Did not know where to go with this book - genuine addictive read what a mind to come up with this. I can't say anything as it will spoil it.
So glad that accountants can have a life after being an accountant - gave me hope.
Also thought there were going there was a good thriller set in lockdown and here it is.
I was given an advance copy by the publishers and netgalley but the review is entirely my own.
Well, this one kept me guessing right until the very end! A top-class thriller from Sarah Bonner—twisty, unsettling, pacey and clever. Lots of dark humour in there too, meaning it manages to be entertaining AND terrifying—no mean feat! It’s the perfect can’t-put-it-down read for fans of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train, whenever you’re in need of some escapism.
Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me early access to this book in the UK. I really enjoyed this psychological thriller, there were multiple twists throughout that kept me on my toes. Once I got into it I couldn’t put it down!
An amazing read by Sarah Bonner. To find this is a debut is surprising. The twists and shockers in this book keep the reader captivated the whole way through. Megan and Leah are twins, close until early adulthood, then events and attitudes separate them.
Megan's husband is Chris is a worryingly controlling man, and plays mind games with Megan throughout the book. This is integral to the plot, as is the covid 19 lockdown. The plot is well developed and the characters motives and actions are well matched and paced within the timeframe.
Faced with travel restrictions, and pandemic living, the dangers and drama of covering up a crime, keep the reader glued to the book.
A great read.
Thanks to #NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book ahead of publication in exchange for an honest review
A great plot with lots of twists but lots of holes for me.
Megan and her identical twin sister Leah are estranged until Megan finds compromising pictures on her husband`s phone, so she meets up with Leah to confront her but ends up murdering her and hides her body in her freezer.
After a while Megan decides to pretend to be Leah so no longer married to her abusive husband.
Lots of holes for me with no mention of Megan`s fingerprints or computer and phone evidence with an abrupt ending.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
While this one is incredibly clever, I feel like I should start with some trigger warnings. Gaslighting, domestic abuse, violence, covid used for plot. You get a first person POV of a psychopath, and the things he says and does are menacing and pretty evil.
The story is almost Machiavellian in its cleverness. Megan confronts her twin sister after finding photos of her on her husband’s phone, but the confrontation soon turns to murder. The only way Megan can get away with killing her twin is by becoming her. Except then lockdown hits and leading two lives becomes a little dangerous. The first half is told from Megan's point of view, and much of the second from her husband's, and throughout we have no idea who will win, while rooting for Megan when all seems a lost cause.
Pacey, compelling, disturbing and sinister.
This is a great book!
Estranged twins, a bad marriage, betrayals and revenge… It’s all there. A dark and twisty story with unreliable narrators making you doubt everything that happens and leaving you desperate to find out what’s going on.
Fast paced and thrilling, I was hooked from the beginning.
Highly recommend!
What a way to start the New Year! You will open the pages of this book and instantly you will be drawn into the dysfunctional story of identical twins Leah and Megan. Also thrown into the mix, is Megan's coercive husband Chris - it's safe to say that these three characters all have "issues"- these are not people you want to live next door to!
I don't want to say too much about the plot as I want everyone to experience it for themselves, but it's safe to say that it has more twists and turns than an Alton Tower's rollercoaster.
Sarah Bonner gets into your head and completely messes with it! The book is split into several parts, and each part is told by a different character - when each character told their version of events I truly believed what they were saying and so my opinion was constantly changing, and just when I thought I had figured out who did what...BOOM! Another twist!
My first book of the New Year, and to be honest, I don't know how any other books are going to compete with it!
I am in a minority here but I just could not get into this book. I did try, but just gave up. Seeing all the great reviews makes me think I will try again at a later date but right now, this book isnt for me. Sorry
I enjoyed this suspenseful thriller. This is a new author for me which I enjoyed and look forward to r eading more from her in the future. This is a well written story that has twists and turns that made the story pop. It made me want to know what was going to happen next. It is a fast paced story that is full of action and hard to put down. The characters are connectable and brought the story to life on each page. This is a story about what happens when Megan finds a picture of her sister, her twin on her husbands phone. She is determined to find out why. A story of secrets and taking over someone elses life. What happens next is up to you to read this book to find out which I highly recommend doing. It is a hard to put down story that entertaining to read and a great book.
This is a book that I had to keep reading well into the night, I just couldn’t put it down. It deals with identical twins, domestic abuse, jealousy and love in a climate that is just starting to get hit with Covid. So well written, and a debut novel at that, it has just the right amount of pace, told from several points of view, which obviously makes you consider and reconsider where you think it’s all going to end. This is a really interesting twist on the usual twins story, one I would recommend everyone to read. A real page turner, can’t wait for the next book.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.
What a brilliant, intense, surprising and so, so clever psychological thriller. This is the kind of novel where you just don't know what is coming next and when it does: wow!
Identical twin sisters, Megan and Leah have always had a complex relationship which resulted in their estrangement. When Megan finds compromising photos of Leah on her husband's phone she wants answers. A confrontation with Leah leads to her murder. To get away with the crime Megan must become two people. Can she get away with it? You'll have to read the book to find out.
This really is an incredible, edge of your seat kind of read. I couldn't put it down.
Thank you to NetGalley and Hodder and Stoughton for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Megan hasn’t seen her identical twin sister, Leah in years. Despite fame and fortune, Leah is always determined to steal or ruin what Megan loves best. So when Megan finds an intimate photo of Leah on her husband’s phone, it’s time for a confrontation that has been coming for years. Only one twin will talk away…
This is a fantastic debut novel. It’s emotive and tense throughout with a very satisfying ending. I enjoyed the multiple narratives, one of which was a chilling insight into the mind of a psychopath. It felt a little strange and jarring to introduce a new character in the last 20% of the book but in the end I was glad of it as it added a whole new layer to the end.
I would certainly recommend this book to any fan of thrillers. It’s guaranteed to entertain you from the first page to the last.
Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to review an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is about as twisty as a book gets ,and I loved it .I really had no clue when the twists came they were all out of the blue for me. Really enjoyed reading it. Kept me happily reading away, and a good bit of escapism. I am sure other readers will enjoy it too.
Oh gosh I’m sorry to give a 1 star. Please do note that I am definitely in the minority and a lot of other people did enjoy this one!!
~ Pick this up if you enjoy/don’t mind ~
🩹Trigger warning: gaslighting and mentions of COVID
🤼 Unlikeable characters

~ What I enjoyed ~
I love the premise, I’m always on the hunt for something crazy so this really piqued my curiosity!
The pace was not bad and I love it when there are small reveals or twists throughout the book.
~ What I didn’t enjoy ~
The first half where Megan tried to lead a double life felt more like a soapy, superficial drama and it was uneventful. There was no suspense or excitement, I never felt like she was at any risk of being exposed or had much trouble taking on a different persona. She really carried on like she didn’t just kill her sister.
After the lockdown happened, the next section of the book was so frustrating to read because it was nothing but gas-lighting, it was quite horrible. Although the twists were actually ok, it was overshadowed because the characters were so unlikeable and I wasn’t enjoying this book at all. Then during the last quarter we were in the POV of some new characters investigating the case, by which point I was just skimming through to get to the end.
I don’t know why this part stood out like a sore thumb to me: “He slapped me hard across the face” but then there was no mention of her shock or the pain, she actually answered him back and continued the conversation like she didn’t get slapped.
Thanks to NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really wanted to love Her Perfect Twin but there was just something holding me back. I’m not sure if it was the way it was written or I found the pace too slow but it just didn’t do it for me. I didn’t particularly like any of the characters and found it even the little twists somewhat predictable. I’m sure others will love it though. Thank you to NetGalley, Hodder and Stoughton and the author for the chance to review.
I absolutely LOVED this book, and how not all twins are alike on the inside. The story of absolutely identical twins Megs and Leah is written in a modern conversational, easy to read style, and as a reader I felt that each character was talking to me. The way the plot is woven around Megan, Leah and Chris, the husband, kept me on the edge of my seat, and I kept on being surprised just when I thought I couldn't be surprised any more! The way each character has a chance to tell the story from their point of view works well with the twin theme and the ending will leave you with your jaw on the ground! Read this book!!!
This is a gripping book, full of twists and retwists, if there is such a thing due to having unreliable narrators, meaning you get to the end and still aren’t sure of whether what you believe is correct. A recommended read.
4.75⭐️ Which I’ve marked up
A very strong debut domestic/psychological thriller.
Meghan has a not so great marriage to Chris and has an estranged relationship with her twin sister Leah. The story is told from the 3 POV plus one other.
It caught my attention early on. I like that it doesn’t start with the premise of a perfect life which is turned on it’s head.
It has a good pace, I liked the storyline. I don’t know how plausible some of the scenarios actually are, but the author sold them to me. It utilises covid and lockdown in the plot.
Some great twists and turns. I really like Meg, and very sympathetic to her situation. I was rooting for her throughout.
I really loved this book, it kept me gripped with a good level of tension throughout. I highly recommend it.
Oh if you love revenge stories you will love this dark and twisted tale. Brilliant. I couldn't our it down and I'm astounded by this debut thriller xx
