I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.
Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.
However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x
Enjoyable piece of pure escapism m exactly what you want to leave reality behind for awhile and just have some chill time and happiness. Lovely story and great characters
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I enjoyed the multicultural aspect to the novel and the fact that the photo on the front of the book reflected this. I didn’t really relate to the characters in the novel. Admittedly Kitty has had a hard life. She now claims to be a feminist but doesn’t show any repentance for stealing expensive meals or gate crashing expensive balls in the name of her foundation. Laurence is equally hard to relate to. Their fake relationship seems hard work as they hate each other so it’s surprising they stay together.
Redeemed by His New York Cinderella is, as the title suggests, a Cinderella-esque story featuring main characters Kitty and Laurence.
Kitty and Laurence meet at dinner when Kitty chargers her meal to Laurence’s room. What follows is a game of cat and mouse when the recognise each other and drama unfolds at the charity event they’re attending.
This has a fake dating trope as the two characters realise that a fake relationship between them could be beneficial to them both in their businesses. Unfortunately I couldn’t really connect to either character so I didn’t feel invested in their story. The connection between them felt quite forced and tenuous in some parts.
This is quite a short read and the fact that the characters knew each other from their younger years put me in mind of another novella - Loving Valentine by Samantha Young.
A modern twist in a multicultural version based story of Cinderella, with hot, steamy sex to spice it up and entertain.
Redeemed by his New York Cinderella is an Enemies to Lovers story - one of the best romance tropes!
I thought this was such a well told and engaging multicultural retelling of Cinderella, with the added bonus of steamy scenes!
I loved Kitty, she was such a headstrong and independent woman. It was great to have such an inspiring character in a romance, that you could forget you were reading a romance!
I am really enjoying the Mills and Boon Modern Series, this is the first book I have by Jadesola James but I will definitely be looking for more!
I read this ARC for an honest review

Classic M&B cinderella romance
Great fairly quick read
Strong romance with a real good feel to it. It bounces between the past and the present - with the ever appreciated epilogue - to show how hard it is for Kitty and Laurence to get together and fall in love. The past is ugly and woven through with how Kitty is trying to save her bit of the world through running a foundation. It is a good tale of good coming from bad and is a romance with a good bit of substance.
It is quite some years since I last read a Mills & Boon/Harlequin Romance. They pretty much follow the same formula (A traditional romance novel where the couple will get their HEA after overcoming the Stumbling Block - and always by page 220) and after you have read one, you can pretty much use that as a template for any of them. Nostalgia must have driven me to request this from NetGallery (thank you NetGallery and Mills & Boon for approving my request) and not one to shirk responsibility, I decided to pick it up for review before publication.
This particular Modern Romance is quick easy reading of the 'fake date' trope, where both characters find themselves in circumstances that can be solved by the world believing they are in a relationship. Despite often liking this trope, the story didn't feel too consistent to me. Kitty's character in particular felt false - boldly stealing a lavish dinner without remorse, whilst proclaiming independence, acting insecure and running a Foundation for the homeless - these conflicting traits just can't feel realistic or consistent in a character.
Apart from the dual PoV's, Harlequin really haven't moved on from the tried and tested formula of old - in the first 5% you can predict exactly what is going to happen - no surprises with this book either folks - I think it's perhaps time to diversify or get better writers.
Kitty the heroine of the story is set as a strong, independent woman who can and has had to look after herself, unfortunately part of this strength involves stealing from others with little remorse or thought which I didn't like, this made it really hard to like her and want her happy ever after. When she meets Laurence there is some redemption but more so from him than her.
The story itself is ok, as long as you can look past the characters at the heart of it.
I enjoyed this Cinderella-style romance. The protagonists both had difficult and emotionally bereft childhoods. Kitty is self-reliant. She created a charitable foundation to help young people forgotten by the welfare system to realise their potential. Laurence is rich but emotionally distant.
Both flawed characters have unlikeable traits, but they have a powerful chemistry that catalyses a sensual romance. It's easy reading, and the main characters develop as individuals and deserve their happy ending.
I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
This was the perfect quick read! Loved the plot and the pace was reasonable. It was steamy and romantic as the perfect romance novel should be!
I read this in one sitting and really enjoyed the sizzling romance. Both characters were quite flawed characters which gave added dimension to the characters and both were damaged by the same thoroughly self centred people. However, at times I felt it hard to like Kitty - some of her self- righteousness seemed a little cloying and she didn’t treat Laurence very well. However, this did not detract from my overall enjoyment.
A rather cutesy romance novel from Mills and Boon. Jadesola did a fantastic with this book, I adored every second of reading it. The characters of Kitty and Laurence were superb. A fantastic book that’ll be sure to please mills and boon fans
I received this ARC from Mills and Boon and NetGalley in return for an honest review.
I didn't find this a warm-hearted Cinderella story at all.
I think this could have been a really engaging story if the heroine had been different. At the start of the story, she is scamming a meal by charging it to a stranger's room in the hotel. It's not just any old meal - it's oysters, Kobe beef, and expensive wine. She is stealing, and she shows not a jot of remorse at any point in the book. Whoever was in the penthouse 'could afford it' is her excuse.
Yet, throughout the book, we're supposed to admire her independent spirit. We have her proclaiming her 'principles' being independent and not taking anything from anyone, and yet she steals? On top of this, she is simply a miserable, mean-spirited shrew and I just couldn't engage.
The hero is not much better, but I could see him changing, and developing. Sorry, I just couldn't get over the heroine as a thief - such an unpleasant character.
The book is well written otherwise, but without a sympathetic heroine, I just couldn't like it.
