Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. This was a good book! My first one by Nicci. The suspense is good, and the author keeps you bouncing back and forth as to who the killer is, what really happened etc. The gall of Jason really made me mad, and I do feel men trying to make their wives or ex-wives look crazy is a little overdone, Highly recommended.

This book had me on edge 😱 It's one of those stories that has you so frustrated with the main character for the way she's acting and putting herself in danger, but a little bit guilty at the same time, because oh my goodness, who do you even trust in this book? I was suspicious of everybody! A totally enjoyable and suspenseful listen with excellent narration from Olivia Vinall.

This is one of those books where I get really frustrated with the main character. She runs around like a member of the Scooby gang, trailing destruction after her wherever she goes. However, on reflection I see she was already a damaged soul and some of her actions that I found unlikely are things that I too have done in a similar situation.
This book is a good read, dark but easy to get into. Suits me well.
Nicki French understands abusive relationships and the escalation and slow decline that occurs within them.
Btw folks, always listen to what your kids are trying to tell you

Another deliciously gripping page-turner from the Nicci French team! There are some holes in the plot and the villain is no big surprise if you read regularly in this genre but the forward momentum of the book doesn't give us a moment in which to stop and dwell on the things that don't quite make sense. Pure pleasure with some creepy moments - the audio narrator is generally good, a little slow in speaking pace and annoyingly adult when doing Poppy's child voice - great commute/travelling reading.
