I've certainly gone out of sequence with these books. I've just read book 26 then realised I had started book 29 although I know I've read book 27, I'll catch up and get straight eventually.
As always I truly enjoyed this gripping read. Great to see Alex and John spending some manly time together. We all know nothing will go to plan for these two and there is going to be thrills and spills along the way.
That is certainly what happened.
Can the world still have people in it after all this time that want to see Cross and Sampson dead. It's a crazy game of jungle cat and mouse.
What a ride this was, I thoroughly enjoyed each and every page of this book. The familiar characters really make you feel like you know them all personally.
Superbly written as always a thrilling read.
I've had a great weekend of Patterson binging and i'm about to start my 3rd Alex Cross book of the weekend.
I normally love James Patterson’s books and the Alex Cross series is one of my favourites but I must confess that I did not enjoy this instalment as much as I have others. I know this may be an unpopular opinion but I just felt it was missing something. It will not however stop me from reading his books and I look forward to the next instalment.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced read copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for this free ecopy of Gear No Evil by James Patterson.
Another fantastic page-turning Akex Cross Thriller! Couldn't put it down and whizzed through it in 2 days!
Glad we're finally getting closer to knowing who M is!!
Often I say a book can be read as standalone but the Cross thriller series is so deep in history and storylines its really impossible to enjoy completely if you haven't got the back story. At book 29 its a hefty investment inf you've never read one to start the series - but an enjoyable one for sure.
Packed full of action from the get go in his usual short chapters and punchy narrative the story hurtles towards its conslucison with the dead bodies stacking up and a good old cat and mouse hunting. JP delivers as he always does with this 5 star read.
‘Fear No Evil’ is James Patterson’s latest action-packed book in the Alex Cross series. When an undercover CIA agent is found dead with a handwritten confession, the trail leads psychologist and detective Dr. Alex Cross to a Mexican cartel which has infiltrated the CIA and border protection.
Meanwhile, Alex’ wife PI Bree Stone is investigating a CEO who has gotten away with sexual assault in Paris, France. While she enjoys dinner at a swanky Parisian restaurant, things unexpectedly take a turn and Bree finds herself in mortal danger.
An old foe reappears and threatens Alex Cross and his family and tortures Alex’ partner Detective John Sampson.
Alex tries to negotiate a ceasefire between the powerful Mexican cartel and a group of skilled vigilantes to avoid further bloodshed. But when the situation escalates, Alex and Sampson find themselves in the middle of rural Montana, exposed to the elements and wildlife.
I particularly liked the main settings of Paris and rural Montana.
There was a bit less of a focus on Cross’ family life, the children and Nana Mama, though I liked that little Ali solves a case by himself.
Fast-paced and in true James Patterson fashion absolutely unputdownable!
Highly recommended. I look forward to reading the next Alex Cross book!
Many thanks to NetGalley, Random House UK, Cornerstone and James Patterson for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
How is this the 29th Alex Cross book?? I have loved each and every one, they honesty just keep getting stronger. I've now been reading JP books for 25 years and Alex Cross is always the one I pick up without hesitation.
Once again Alex Cross is put through the wringer after a CIA Agent is found tortured with her confession left with her body. The body count rises.
Alex and his partner John Sampson are due some much needed leave, a boys action packed break but all is cancelled when the Cartel start a killing spree that doesn't seem to let up. On top of that their old adversary 'M' makes it known he is back on the scene watching them... and their families!
As Alex is once again pulled into a case that doesn't feel like it will ever let up, Alex's wife Bree, now a Private Investigator, is investigating an entrepreneur accused of abusing girls and embezzling funds. The investigation takes her to Paris where things get dark quickly.
I wont give any spoilers but as expected JP gives us a fast action packed ride that never let's up.
The biggest thanks to netgalley and Random House UK for the ARC.
An old enemy of Alex and Sampson, ‘M’ starts to send them texts letting them know he’s watching them.
They’re then pulled onto a case where the body count rises rapidly and it seems a drug cartel and a group of assassins are at war.
Cross and Sampson soon become the targets for both groups and they try and work out if ‘M’ is also after their blood.
They end up in the wilds of Montana and it’s clear both groups want them dead, as they hunt them down. James Patterson did it again! Masterfully written, this novel will reel you in and hold you enthralled as the layers of story are revealed. Highly recommended.
Thanks to NetGalley and The Publisher for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Another enjoyable installment of the Alex Cross series for me. Very action packed with all the twists and turns you'd expect. I enjoyed every minute of it.
As with all the Alex Cross series to date this one will keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat until the end.
As the story progresses and Alex and his family and friends yet again come under fire, can Alex fight the fight to discover who is behind the killings and who is now after him!
With so many books in this series you would have thought it would have lost its way by now but yet again Patterson pulls it out of the bag! Looking forward to the next instalment!!
When agents are found dead with a letter of confession around their neck, Cross and Sampson must cancel their vacation to work on the case!
But Cross's wife Bree is on her own case in France; trying to take down scum without more victims being hurt in the process.
And the kids are all grown up and Ali is following in his father's footsteps; investigating a crime of his own.
All of this is happening while M is still on the loose and messages are appearing; trying to upset them both.
Patterson never disappoints!
I am still early on in the series to now jump to this one, but I can just see how much depth goes into the characters and narrative.
The novel was fast-paced, always something happening and the narrative was complicated enough for the reader to follow but also keep us guessing.
Although I have a lot of catching up to do, Patterson never makes you feel like you've missed out; so you can pick up one of his novels and know it will be a good read.
The latest instalment in the Alex Cross series finds him venturing into the Montana wilderness with hiis best friend John Sampson and battling a brutal Mexican cartel as well thugs working for the mysterious M. An easy, fast paced read.
I was so looking forward to this latest Alex Cross book BUT how disappointing
This was so out of character - lacking in cohesion , too fantastical and implausible .
I know that quite often reality must be suspended and imagination take over but
in this instance it did not feel like a James Patterson book !!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you NetGalley for a copy of this book for an honest review.
It is like rejoining our family. Cross with his family and close friends it is a reunion that we love to revisit regularly. The story is captivating to the very end and we can only hope that the next Cross will come in a short while specially with the ending of the story.
Another book in the Alex Cross series
A brilliant read
Will have you hooked as always
Can’t wait to find out who M is
Thanks NetGalley
Lots of action, suspense, twists and turns. Add in Alex Crosses family and you have another great story. Friendship and family are put to the test but all is well that ends well.
When you've read so many books of a series, like I have with this one, it gets a bit trickier to review every time a new one comes out.
Does it have the usual action packed crime thriller feel we're used to with the later Alex Cross books? Yes.
Does it fit perfectly with the previous instalments in the series? Yes.
Will I read on if another comes out? Of course.
Not much to say other than Bravo Mr Patterson for keeping the magic alive in such a long standing series. I do personally prefer the earlier ones, but the later ones are absolutely cracking reads too.
Wow can’t believe this is the 29th instalment of Alex Cross. Have to admit that he is still going strong and can’t wait for the 30th!!
A CIA agent is found dead, after being tortured and Alex and John Sampson are called in to investigate. There are links to the Mexican cartel and soon more bodies are building up. Can Alex and John find the killers before they end up in trouble themselves.
As always we also have Alex’s family, mainly his wife Bree in this book. Who travels to France to undertake some investigations of her own.
If you’ve read previous Alex Cross books then you will know what to expect and if not you best get started on the previous 28 books !!
Thank you to Random House UK and NetGalley for a digital copy of this book.
Having not read an Alex Cross book in a while this certainly didnt disappoint. The author earlier Alex Cross books were more crime thriller, like along came a spider the start of this great adventure now Alex is more Crime action and this book certainly packed a punched I didnt feel I missed out by missing some of the past books as this flows well and briefly touches on past needs to knows. If anything all it has done is made me want to start at the beginning again and follow Alex story.
I love Alex Cross and always look forward to the release of another fast paced story and this does not disappoint! The addition of Bree working solo adds another element of interest to the book. I did find the ending quite clunky but that could be because I didn't read it in one sitting. I will definitely be following the adventures further. Thank you to Netgalley for the advance copy.
Alex Cross is an excellent, gripping and highly entertaining series and this instalment is up to any expectations I had.
It's gripping, adrenaline-fuelled and action packed but there's also emotions and family.
This is the mix I love and made me read this book in two setting.
I strongly recommend it as I thoroughly enjoyed.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
