One thing I love just as much as books is food! I’ve been lucky enough to visit the @mowglistreetfood restaurant in Birmingham and loved it, so when I saw a sample of their latest cookbook available on @netgalley I was thrilled to be approved.
I decided to try and make the spiced lamb and apricot wraps this week and despite at first thinking ‘oh gosh there are a lot of ingredients’ actually it was nearly all spices I had in my cupboard! I only had to buy the lamb and the pine nuts, the rest I already had.
The recipe was actually very simple. All cooked in one pan, you simple just work through adding what is needed until you leave it to simmer, then heat the roti flat breads when ready to serve.
It went down a treat, and there was enough for leftovers which I brought to work as lunch today. It reheated great and is just as tasty as it was fresh.
I’d definitely be tempted to buy this cook book on publication in November, as this was quick, tasty and so different from some of the same-old recipes I get bored of.
Thanks to @nourishbooks @nishakatona and @netgalley for this free sample of a great cook book.
Fabulous sample of the new 30 minute Mowgli. I am a great fan of the recipes and will definitely be owning a couple. It's full of delicious food for everyday life.
This is only an excerpt but if the rest is like this, I like it. The few recipes that are in here look interesting and delicious. The photographs are breathtakingly beautiful. The visual imagery draws you in and makes you want to cook and eat that food. I am interested in seeing the finished product. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Some delicious sounding recipes from the look of the sampler. I will be trying out the chicken coconut and pineapple curry soon and I love the sound of the lamb and apricot wraps. If this is anything to go by, the full book will be packed full of flavourful recipes which I imagine will be hugely inspiring when trying to think of something to cook for dinner!
I didn't realize this was just a sampler but it definitely did the trick, I will have to purchase this one for my collection after it releases as the recipes and photography were gorgeous. The chicken, coconut and pineapple looks divine and I can't wait to see what else the whole book has in store.
Mowgli is one of my favourite restaurants and the first mowlgi book is one of my favourites - the dal and the paneer are two of my favourite meals, plus we make the cheese on toast regularly and I love the tangled greens!
I actually have this on preorder so was really excited to get a preview. Everything looks so delicious and easy and I love that everything is ready quickly! In the intro Nisha talks about these being recipes she makes at home which i love.
It’s hard to get a gage from 4 recipes but hope to see more vegetarian recipes in the final book
That salmon recipe is amazing!
The others look great too, love that they are all ready under 30 mins. they few I can see you need a full pantry but I would definitely consider buying them. Yum!
My only issue is going on the samples they are not waist line friendly, but I adapted the salmon recipe and it was still great - ie didnt deep fry it!
The recipes in the book look absolutely amazing and I can't wait to try some!
Thank you for the sample, really looking forward to seeing the full book.
As this was a sampler with only 4 recipes it is hard to give a detailed review.
Personally I love cooking Indian food from scratch ... not sure about adding fruit to everything though ..l which I have not come across on my many trips to India.
I received a sampler of “30 Minute Mowgli” and, well, it looks delicious! Mowgli is an institution in Liverpool (which I have yet to go to!) so it was nice to see more of their recipes that prove to be accessible and easier than expected.
I only saw a few recipes as I received a taster but every single one looked delicious and I’m dying to see what else I could cook up.
I’m in the process of moving house so I’ll be looking for things to cook - but this taster is a great way to start!
I requested this before I realised it was a sampler, which is something I haven't seen on Netgalley before. Maybe I'm just new to the site, but I feel it's quite stingy and unfair to only give reviewers a tiny fration of the book - we don't get paid for this, the only perk is free books, so I'd like to get more than 12 pages please.
The other issue with samplers is that I really can't say much about this because it's so brief, honestly. The recipes looked nice enough, but the ones featured didn't appeal to me personally (for petty reasons such as I dislike mango). The photography was lovely. But I can't comment positively or negatively on the book, other than being annoyed at the sampler format.
I was actually really disappointed with the sampler. I LOVE Mowgli (and I'm always boring my friends and family by telling them how amazing it is) but I really didn't feel the sampler reflected the best of the dishes. I guess maybe they were chosen deliberately so as not to give away the best recipes, but it was still a bit of a disappointment.
I'm tightly crossing my fingers that the book will be amazing.
These recipes look INCREDIBLE and I love the concept of the fast cooking (I rarely enjoy spending more than and hour cooking). Whilst I haven't tried to cook any recipes yet, rest assured I will be testing these out over the next few months. This sampler copy is definitely a teaser, because it's really made me wish I had the full copy with all the recipes! The Mango and Coriander Salmon looks particular good.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you, Watkins, and NetGalley for a sampler of 30-minute Mowgli. I am aware of Nisha Katona via TV. So, I jumped at the chance to view this sampler.
The books start with Nisha’s history of growing up and interesting photos from her childhood to her opening of her Mowgli restaurants.
This has three delicious recipes with accessible ingredients and easy to follow guidelines that any level chef can cook. I like how the author includes what you can substitute in the recipe if you have not got the main ingredients to hand and story behind each recipe.
I can’t wait to try these recipes and when the book comes out buy the book to see what other recipes that are included in this book. 5 stars from me.
Only seen the 4-recipe sampler but seem like tasty recipes which are fairly easy/ accessible ingredients. I like the ideas the author includes for adapting. Made the lamb and apricot wraps which were delicious and felt authentic, but watch for the typo on the imperial measurements for the lamb (500g is not 7oz). Will look to buy a copy once in print!
I had a 12 page sampler book from Netgalley, so I don't know how many actual recipes the book contains but there are 6 chapters of recipes on the contents page: Poultry, Meat, Fish, Vegetables & Pulses, Ma, Look Away! and Desserts & Drinks.
There were 4 included in this sampler which are:
Chicken, coconut & pineapple curry
Spiced Lamb & Apricot Wraps
Mango & Corriander Salmon
Coconut & Chia Seed Pots
Each recipe in the sampler had a colour photograph, the recipes were in both imperial and metric measurements and the steps were easy to follow. Each recipe appears to be cooked in under 30 minutes.
I like the look of the first two recipes, they'd certainly be ones I'd try on my family.
I received this book from Netgalley in return for a honest review.
30 Minute Mowgli ( Sampler ) by Nisha Katona
A very small snippet of the book. Recipes look simple to make and sound lovely.
A great sample from this cookbook, I tried the chicken, coconut and pineapple curry and it turned out really well, it was easy enough to make and very tasty. Looking forward to trying out some of the other recipes.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an advanced digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I received this book from the publishers via Netgalley for a review. Good recipes easy to follow and take about thirty minutes to cook.
