Colleen Hoover has once again blown my mind. Reminders of Him is an entrancing novel that includes far more than just a love story. This is a story about grief, family, and forgiveness. Kenna's story is a heavy one and I found my heart breaking right alongside hers. The relationships between the characters are perfectly complicated. I loved that I was constantly at war with my own thoughts while reading. In addition to the heavier content, the romance was absolutely beautiful and I could not get enough. In fact, I devoured this book in one sitting. There is no doubt in my mind that Reminders of Him is going to become another of Colleen's iconic best-sellers. I cannot wait to purchase the physical copy later this month.
I received an ARC for Reminder of Him and let’s just say wow… I’m speechless. I’m not kidding when I say this book was absolutely amazing. I was wondering if this book would have the way vibes as Confess but it beyond exceeded my expectations. My heart was hurting and broken for most of the book and then completely put back together in the end. I loved Kenna and ledger SO much. Ledger was just so perfect and sweet (like most men written by Colleen Hoover) and Kenna..oh my gosh. She deserves the world! I admired her so much and was rooting for her the whole time. This is definitely one of my top fav CoHo books!!!!
I love Coho’s way of making you fall in love with characters, despite their flaws. In this one, I love the letters and how she tells the story of the past and present. The steam was the perfect level, and the romance was cute and super bingeable. I loved the story plot of wanting to meet her daughter! The reason I knocked it down a star is just because for me, it was really hard to get past the drunk driving flaw. Coho did a good job of showing how it was a mistake she made as a kid and her regret, but it was still a bit challenging for me personally to sympathize with.
4.5
Give another round of applause for the one and only....Colleen Hoover!! This one might be my fav by her!! While reading those last few chapters I stopped to take a break and realized that my cheeks and neck were wet and I thought I was sweating....nahh turns out those were tears, uk the silent cry? yes tears were pouring down my cheeks and I didn't even know it, I was so invested in the book!
Also do you know that feeling after a good cry where you are too numb and exhausted to cry more or even think abt anything and you just sit there staring at nothing? Yep that's exactly how I felt after finishing the book. Before starting it have about 10 boxes of tissues prepared just in case:)
Even though I got annoyed with Kenna... Coho has this way, even though u are not a fan of the characters she has this way of making you feel their pain which is honestly amazing.
You get the meaning of the cover and title of the book after ur done and I love it when authors do that!
Also even though this is a romance you get more of family dynamics while reading it and I loved it
Kenna’s pain is reflected through the writing SO WELL. And you can just feel it. Her daughter was so sweet too, I loved all the scenes with her(made me cry, laugh)
Ledger is one of my fav, hes kind, sweet, caring, good with kids....What more can you ask?
Can we talk abt those side characters tho? Roman and Lady Diana? I LOVE THEM!!! I wish we got scenes with them!!
I picked this up while I was sick and I finished it in a day...made me forget that I was sick and it was a welcome break♥️
Anyway I think I said 'Love/loved it' abt a 100 times in this review...but please pick it up!! Comes out on 18/01/2022!!
Thank you to the publishers and netgalley for the e-arc:)
4.5 stars
CoHo said this is the only book that made her cry while writing… and I get it. I cried too (I always cry though).
I think this is my favorite book of hers! And I was surprised because the synopsis didn’t lead me to believe that.
But books that make me emotional are my favorite, and this made me EMOTIONAL. Like I’m not okay.
Also, Ledger is a sexy name. I need to find me a Ledger…
*special thanks to CoHo herself for letting me read this book early!!
5++++++ gorgeous stars!
I was up until 4:15am reading, Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover. Unfortunately I had to put it down and get some sleep because pulling an all-nighter gets harder as I get older.
I just finished this incredibly endearing story and, WOW! I have loved every book Colleen Hoover has written and, with each book she has blown my mind, but this book…My heart. Right from the first few pages, I knew it would be an unforgettable read.
Gorgeous characters and an angst-filled storyline…no one can destroy my heart one minute, and fill it full the next, like Colleen Hoover can. Have tissues handy because if your eyes aren’t leaking while you read this story, you’re dead inside, lol!
Reminders of Him is everything I hope for in a great read.
*I was provided an advance copy in exchange for an honest review*
Thank you @netgalley and @amazonpublishing for access to this highly anticipated CoHo novel! Fortunately, I was able to get early access to read this with my amazing Colleen Hoover book club (shoutout to my CoHorts 😘) This one will be published and available on Tuesday, the 18th!
CoHo could write a book about astrophysics, and it would take me no longer than two sittings to read it. It doesn’t matter what the story is about, her writing is so good that every book is impossible to put down. Reminders of Him drew me in quickly with all of the mystery surrounding the main character, Kenna.
I really enjoyed the entire thing, but the story wasn’t exactly unique. Actually, it had a VERY similar storyline to Kristin Hannah’s Night Road, but not quite as heavy… However, there is one chapter in particular you better have tissues nearby for.
So, I basically knew where it was going from the first few chapters, and it ended how I expected it to. It was a good ending, although not highly realistic in my opinion. But something I really liked were the alternating POV chapters switching between Kenna and Ledger (loved his character SO much).
I seriously enjoy every one of CoHo’s books but I have not been able to consider one a perfect, 5-star read yet. I’m planning to read It Ends With Us next month and hoping it will be the one that does it for me 🤞🏼
sitting here with so many thoughts but also an empty mind and no words. i’m speechless. i laughed, smiled, cried… i ran through every emotion in the emotion handbook while reading this book. i wanted to hit characters, i wanted to hug characters, i wanted play with turtles with characters… i just can’t express how much i loved this book. you’ve done it again colleen. send me your address so i can send you a bill for my therapy.
thank you so much to leo pr and netgalley for this advanced copy in return for an honest review <3
I flew through this book and finished it less than 24 hours. Once again, CoHo has put my heart through the wringer with her beautifully-written novel about love, loss and redemption.
Reminders of Him is more about familial love than romance, which might be why it struck such a deep chord with me. CoHo did a fantastic job in exploring a very complicated conflict and "impossible situation" in which there are no winners or right and wrong.
I felt so much for both sides and cried about 35% in. The entire book was so emotionally powerful and moving, with characters you can't help but love and whose pain you can feel radiating through the pages. Even the supporting characters were wonderful and I wish they had more scenes.
The final line of the second last chapter is pure perfection and I love the epilogue. I also really appreciated the acknowledgements in which CoHo explains the lack of a specific setting for the book, which I thought was incredibly meaningful.
I wish the book was longer, with certain scenes and some of the supporting characters more fleshed out. But other than that, this is a truly amazing book that I enjoyed from start to end.
Everyone needs to read this. I don't care how - Netgalley, preorder, standby at the bookstore on release day, etc. I didn't think I could love anything more than It Ends With Us but this is a close tie and one of her best books ever. Be sure to get some tissues ready!
Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover was a poignant, emotional page turner about forgiveness, hope, and redemption.
The story follows Kenna Rowan who was just released from prison after serving five years for a tragic mistake. Kenna returns to the town where everything went wrong, hoping to reunite with her 4 year old daughter. But the road to her daughter is blocked by many people who haven’t yet forgiven her for the past.
Her only ally is Ledger Ward, a local bar owner and one of the few remaining links to Kenna’s daughter. Ledger has to decide whether befriending Kenna is worth the risk of losing the trust of everyone important to him. As Kenna and Ledger’s friendship starts to spark into a romantic connection, they begin to realize what’s at stake. Kenna must find a way to absolve the mistakes of her past in order to fight for the future she so desperately wants.
I honestly don’t know what to say about this novel, other than it was a true masterpiece. It took me a week to write this review, not because I was searching for the perfect words to describe this novel (although that’s what this novel is, it’s perfect), but because the first 48 hrs after reading I had to delicately balance two ice packs on my eyes to get the swelling to go down from crying. Truly. I have pictures to prove it. I started sobbing around page 20 and continued to sob for the rest of the story. I have never read such a heartbreakingly beautiful story. It was emotional, gut-wrenching but also so full of hope and forgiveness. Colleen has the uncanny ability to destroy your soul, while healing it at the very same time.
A huge thank you to Mrs. Hoover and Montlake for providing me with an Arc to review. I know it’s only January, but this will definitely be my favorite read of the year.
There are stories that you read and there are stories that you feel. Then there are books like Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover, that bleed into your soul. I felt this story with my whole heart and soul. The sadness and regrets bleed off of every emotion-packed page. Reminders of Him is one of those stories that will give you the biggest kick in the feels. Colleen Hoover, what did you do to my heart? It’s been to hell and back. What a tragic and all-consuming, heartbreakingly beautiful story that will split open your heart wide open and make you feel. Reminders of Him is on my Best of 2021/22 Book List! 1/18/22 release.
‘Maybe the best way to cope with the loss of the people we love is to find them in as many places and things as we possibly can. And in the off chance that the people we lose are still somehow able to hear us, maybe we should never stop talking about them.’
*Chefs kiss ..5 stars! * And…right here is the reason why, after nearly 10 years, we will always be excited about a new release from Colleen Hoover. Her love stories come infused with a mixture of humour, sadness, deep-felt emotion, wonderfully relatable characters, and of course the sublime writing of this incredible author. What’s not to love? Colleen Hoover’s books are a reader’s dream, and we will forever devour every word she writes.
‘I feel like the words I’m about to say are the most important words that will ever come from me. I wish I was more prepared.’
Reminders of Him is an achingly emotion fuelled story of love, loss, second chances, and forgiveness told through the eyes of Kenna Rowan, who has recently been released after serving 5 years in prison, and Ledger Ward, the wonderful man so intrinsically tied to her past and present.
‘We’re all just a bunch of sad people doing what we have to do to make it until tomorrow.’
After the death of her boyfriend Scotty, and the completion of her prison sentence, Kenna returns to Scotty’s hometown in the hope of being allowed access to her daughter, who has been cared for in the last 5 years by Scotty’s parents, however, they have no intention of allowing Kenna access to her daughter. It’s a gut-wrenching situation and one that broke our hearts.
‘Grudges are heavy, but for the people hurting the most, I suppose forgiveness is even heavier.’
Not wanting to give away anything about the story, we promise this book will seep into your heart and soul. It’s a story you’ll be reflecting on, and feeling, long after closing the last page. And oh, that last page!! So beautiful, even whilst reading it through a flood of tears. We were left as emotionally drained, as we were emotionally fulfilled.
“Please don’t,” I whisper. “It hurts enough already.”
“I know. I’m sorry.”
The family dynamics were perfectly balanced, and the conflicted feelings between all the characters, especially Ledge, had our stomachs and hearts twisting in emotional turmoil. We understood every single feeling, we felt every single emotion. It was torture – but the good kind, where you know the pain will be worth it in the end.
‘I don’t like that the one person I dislike most in this world reminds me of the person I love the most.’
We don’t know how Colleen Hoover does it. How does she manage to tell story after story and each one feels so unique, so fresh, yet so ‘Colleen’. Reminders of Him is a must-read for all Colleen Hoover fans. And if you’ve never experienced this author’s genuine, heartfelt romances, then you need to get on the ‘Hoover Train’ immediately! Start with this book, and you’ll know exactly what we mean!
Bravo! For this all-encompassing, superbly written, and incredibly moving read! 5 unforgettable stars!
‘.. moments like these remind me that happiness isn’t some permanent thing we’re all trying to achieve in life, it’s merely a thing that shows up every now and then, sometimes in tiny doses that are just substantial enough to us going.’
This story is heartbreaking and emotional. However, after I finished reading it, I wasn’t sure where I would rate it. I didn’t have strong feelings either way about the overall plot or characters. Yes, it’s tragic and definitely brought out some feelings but did the story overly move me? I don’t really think so. But like most CoHo books, it’s easy to just keep turning the pages because I was still interested. I know this review probably sounds contradicting; that’s what I mean about how torn I am on my feelings for it.
I was really fond of the letters Kenna wrote to Scotty and I would’ve loved more of that because it could’ve given us more insight into their relationship and the person he was.
I can see how it will cause a cry-fest for many readers, and I did feel a couple tears sting at the end.
3.75 or 4 ⭐️
Colleen Hoover does it again. I devoured this book in less than 24 hours, completely unable to put it down.
Colleen Hoover is known for her deep, emotional romances, and this book is exactly that! I was absolutely attached to the characters, rooting for Kenna, loving Ledger, and understanding for Scotty's family. This book focuses on grief, and how to move past trauma and open your heart to forgiveness. This book left an imprint on my heart that will be there for a LONG time.

Ok so, yesterday I said I felt meh about this book, but then I finished it and completely changed my mind. The past 50 or so pages absolutely did it for me and my heart is still hurting! This is only my second Colleen Hoover book but I seriously don't l understand how she writes such deep/dark plots, I need to know how much her brain hurts after she finishes writing a book because mine kills after reading them!! I definitely recommend picking this up!
Reminders Of Him
Thank you for sending this arc! I am not normally one to re-read books and so looking forward to the delivery of the hardcover on January 18, 2022 so I can do just that.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
One of the best Colleen Hoover books!!

She did it again folks! 👏 Colleen always writes some of the best emotional, heart wrenching books that tear you to pieces only to put you back together again. This one was heavy and has me crying but it was SO GOOOD. Like all of her books I didn't want to stop!
I loved this so much!!!! It was a beautiful and heartbreaking story of forgiveness!!!! Ledger and Kenna are just so raw and real! The push and pull was angsty, chemistry filled. Especially since they're in a seriously tough situation. My heart broke for them all especially Kenna. But how she handles everything was so admiring. Ledger was put in an impossible situation but I just loved him and the way he looks after Kenna. I couldn't get enough of them!
If you're a fan of Colleen's emotional romances then you definitely need to order this one! Prepare your heart! The happy, sweet moments make the journey worth it! SO GOOD!
All the stars I've given Reminders of Him belong to Kenna and Kenna only😂❤️
So many reviews I read would talk about Ledger and while yes, he is great, kenna deserves all the love today.
Her absolute strength was what made me fall in love with her character, she has been through the worst heartache anyone could possible imagine and yet she still perseveres.
In true CoHo fashion, Reminders of Him was such a heartbreakingly beautiful read.
Kenna's pain was so acutely felt on the page it made reading her journey all the more rewarding, she has become one of my new favourite characters!
Also I just have to mention that Colleen Hoover is the absolute queen of the quotes with the books title in them 😭
(mild spoiler ahead)
However 😬
The second half of the book missed the mark just a little, I felt as if we spent the entire book waiting for a reunion between kenna and her daughter, only to get crumbs of the relationship at the end. All that build up for nothing!
Also there were wonderful side characters who kind of faded into not being mentioned again when they played a part in most of the book, which didn't make a lot of sense to me 😅
But this book kept me reading, and even when I wasn't I thought so much about it!!
I would definitely recommend 💖
A huge thank you to Amazon Publishing for the Arc! Reminders of him releases 18 January 2022💓
Colleen Hoover knocked it out of the park with this one. Characters I loved, a story that sucks you in & becomes your whole world right up to the end. I loved the originality of Kenna's story, & just as usual, her book gave me "all the feels" just as some of her earlier works did. I finished this book within a day-I just couldn't put it down!
Summary:
Kenna is young mother who was sentenced to jail for seven years after pleading guilty for abandoning her boyfriend after car crash.
The story starts after her sentence is over. Kenna goes back to her old town trying to get back with her daughter.
While attempting that she come across ledger a bar owner who turns out to be so much more than a indifferent stranger.
Kenna has no one and nothing, her only wish is to meet her daughter but her tragic past mistake gets in the way of that.
Review:
I will start by saying that I loved this book, mostly because I could relate to some of Kenna’s mental issues.
I thought that I could never cry over a book until I read this masterpiece. The way coho succeeded into shaping such an amazing main character in a such realistic way had me shocked.
I loved how we saw the relationship between ledger and Kenna was developing gradually and I adored how he was so understanding of her situation.
Every single characters actions could be understand and it was extremely hard to name someone as the bad guy as everyone had their own reasons and motives.
This book has definitely a special place in my heart. I have never read anything like it before. It was definitely an emotional rollercoaster and I can confirm that this book is one of the top reads of 2021.
