after spending five years in prison for a tragic mistake, kenna returns to the town where her four year old daughter lives, hoping to reunite with her. however, everyone in her life is determined to shut kenna out. she then meets ledger, the one person who might be able to help her reconnect with her daughter in a town that hasn’t forgiven her.
this was the 14th book I’ve read by colleen hoover. usually when I read one of colleen hoover’s books, I get hooked immediately and am unable to put it down until I finish the book. reminders of him was no different. I could honestly write an essay about how much I loved this book. I loved every single thing about it. it’s in dual pov, the characters are so beautifully developed, and I loved the relationship between kenna and ledger. kenna is one of the strongest female characters I’ve read about. I loved her determination to prove herself and her willingness to do anything to be a part of her daughter’s life.
I also loved finding out the meaning behind the cover and title of the book, it made me tear up. this book was overall so beautiful, I think I highlighted every other sentence on my kindle so I can’t wait to get my hands on a physical copy so I can annotate it.
reminders of him is definitely one of my top 2 favourite books by colleen hoover (along with it ends with us)
thank you to leo pr, amazon publishing , and netgalley for this arc of one of my most anticipated releases of 2022!
this book comes out january 18th, 2022. if you haven’t preordered it yet, I highly recommend it! this book is a MUST read!
I absolutely love Colleen Hoover and all her books! While this was not my favorite of hers (it can't really beat All Your Perfects, sorry!) I really enjoyed it!!
This was my first Colleen Hoover book, and I absolutely LOVED it! I've heard great things about her writing, and she did not disappoint.
Reminders of Him is a deeply moving, family drama/romance, and I found myself sucked in from the very beginning. Hoover does a brilliant job building complex characters and engaging readers by appealing to their emotions. There were times when I didn't like Kenna and Ledger, and times when I loved them both. This book is a tear-jerker, and it's so heartfelt and genuine. I highly recommend!
Holy WOW. I feel like I need a few days to process the emotional turmoil of this… but it was just so well done. CoHo is known for writing incredibly emotional romances and this was no exception. I picked it up and didn’t put it down until I finished, half a box of tissues later. It’s heartbreaking and somehow also heartwarming and UGH I loved Ledger and Kenna so much. I’m really glad I went into this blind - this one felt back to some of CoHo’s original roots. But, I think overall one of her best books to date.
I’ve always loved Colleen’s books because they always make me feel SO MUCH. They’re not your typical romances. Sure, they make me laugh, but theyre not rom-coms. I’ve been reading Colleen’s books for almost 6 years ago and reading them always feels like coming home… even if they always emotionally destroy me before putting me back together.
Reminders of Him has been one of my most anticipated reads for 2022! This contemporary novel explores grief, strained relationships, hope, and second chances. First and foremost, this is a heavy contemporary novel that really dives into grief and trauma. There is a little bit of romance in here, but it’s more of a subplot. Overall, this was extremely well written and definitely a resonating book. I really love the way Colleen not only fleshed out the flawed characters, but we also have a chance to see them grow throughout the novel. The raw emotions and the intimacy she’s able to capture of her characters is truly heart wrenching. I loved the way that the story flowed and the pacing of the romance in here works so well. The only part that didn’t work for me was that I felt that the ending was a bit too tidy, but other than that, it’s definitely a powerful and moving read. I highly recommend picking this up if you’re a Colleen Hoover fan.
I went into this latest book by Colleen Hoover blind. All I knew was that it had brought out all the emotions in other readers. And this read is definitely emotional. How do you get past something deemed as unforgivable?
Kenna is young and when she was five years younger she committed a heinous act. Something she couldn't even process or handle--and one she will never forget. She did her time and now is free. By chance, she meets the one man who could possibly help her meet her daughter. Ledger is her boyfriend's best friend and very involved in her daughter's life.
This is more than a romance. It's an emotional journey for Kenna trying to make a life for herself. She is trying to do better for her daughter--though she might never get a chance to meet her. The added, somewhat forbidden romance, between Ledger and Kenna was not the center of the story, but was beautiful and sweet.
Thank you to Montlake, Leo PR, and NetGalley for an advanced readers copy in exchange for my honest review.
No surprise here👉🏼5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This one is a classic CH story. It reminded me of Ugly Love and November 9, which are my two favorites. It was incredible. You will love. Obviously. She’s 👑.
Colleen Hoover has done it again. Ripped out my heart, stomped on it, and then mended me back up. And of course, given me a serious book hangover. I'll need time to recover before I start on a new book. No spoilers here. No long synopsis. Just get this book pre-ordered and dive right in the moment you recieve it. xo

I give it 2 months and this one will be all over Booksta. Short review: I loved it.
Kind of mind blowing to me that I had never read a novel by Colleen Hoover till the pandemic and now I just finished book 6 of hers.
Read it if you love CoHo (what’s not to love?)
Read it if you love contemporary romance (who doesn’t?!)
Read it if you enjoy novels like Kristin Hannah that bring all the emotions of a real-life love story ..

A tragic mistake cost Kenna Rowan the love of her life, five years of her life, and a daughter she never met or seen.
It’s always hard for me to write about Colleen’s books because they are so emotional that I don’t want to go to deep into detail for fear of ruining the experience for another reader; but I can start by saying, Colleen has done it again. She’s delivered a story with the ups, downs, laughter, tears, and heartbreaking moments. This time she gives us the story of two people who shouldn’t be together because of tragic circumstances but fit together so well. It’s the story of Kenna and Ledger. Kenna who returns to the town where the tragedy she caused took place in hopes of seeing and becoming a part of her daughter, Diem’s life; and Ledger, the best friend of the man whose life she took who has sworn to be there for his best friend’s daughter and protect her from the woman who left her without a father.
Kenna knows it’s a long shot of being let into Diem’s life, but she’s determined to try, and she’s met with the one roadblock she didn’t anticipate, Ledger. Within one day of being in town, she has secured a job, an apartment, and managed to make one of many mistakes. She comes in contact with a man who she’s very much physically attracted to, and who is just as attracted to her. Unfortunately, the stranger turns out to be Ledger Ward, the best friend of Scotty, whom she’d never had the chance to meet. Kenna isn’t completely sure where she stands with Ledger. He makes known his disdain for her, but at the same time he treats her with kindness. He shows concern and compassion for her by giving her details on her daughter, he even gives her a job but then makes it clear that she needs to leave town and makes sure that she doesn’t come into contact with Diem.
For five years Ledger Ward has hated Kenna Rowan for taking his best friend and her name has made his stomach turn, but now the sight of her makes his stomach flip. The more time Ledger spends with Kenna, the more he sees she’s not the monster he once thought she was; and he also starts to understand Diem a little better as he sees parts of the little girl in her mother. Ledger is torn between his attraction to Kenna, his loyalty the Landrys, and his oath to protect Diem. To say he’s uncertain of his feelings for her is an understatement. The Kenna he thought he knew doesn’t exist. The Kenna he knows is a decent person. She makes him want to help her, care for her, and take care of her. Because Kenna refuses to discuss what happened the night of Scotty’s death he can’t help but to wonder what she’s hiding and if her attraction to him is genuine or just her way of getting closer to her daughter.
I need to know. If I’m going to drop to my knees in front of Patrick and Grace when I beg them to give her a chance. I need to fully know the person I’m fighting for.
For us, we get to know Kenna and her experiences through letters that she writes to Scotty on a daily basis, from day one of her prison sentence to present day. It’s here where we get from Colleen the deep emotion that’s brings the heartache, and the heart ache for everyone. Heartache for Kenna for everything she’s experiencing like never even holding her baby. Heartache for Scotty for not surviving, heart ache for the Landrys for the hurt and lost they experienced, and for not understanding that Kenna isn’t the horrible person they think she is, the heartache for Diem never knowing her parents and not even understanding where she came from, how she came to be and what a mother is. Heartache for Ledger for being torn between being happy and betraying people very important to him.
It’s these letters that made me want to go into the book and give her such a shake. It was like “Just show them your letters, and everyone will understand!” Especially when in one letter she describes her final hours with Scotty.
Although you will be in your feelings reading this book, there are some fun and enjoyable moments as well. Especially Kenna’s young neighbor Lucy, aka “Lady Diana”. Then there are those moments with Diem as she asks the questions and does things of a typical four-year-old. There is also the banter between Kenna and Ledger that flows very easily.
When I started my Bookstagram, I was hoping to someday get an ARC of a book, any book. Never, in a million years, did I think I would get to read something from The Queen herself months before it releases. My Bookstagram dreams have come true, so thank you Colleen Hoover, Amazon, and Netgalley.
I’ve never encountered a CoHo book that I didn’t devour quickly, but this is the first that I haven’t finished in one sitting, which isn’t a criticism. This book is just heavier than her others, and I had to sit with it a bit before I could jump back in. It is extremely sad over and over and over again.
Woven into the storyline are letters that Kenna has written to her late boyfriend for the past five years, which became one of my favorite elements of this book; not only do they help offer some emotional release for Kenna, but they also provide some of the storyline for what happened five years ago, an event that drastically changed the lives of many people.
I rarely cry while reading, and this one had me deep in the depths of despair, not to be dramatic or anything. Very good. Very sad. Add to your TBR immediately.
Colleen Hoover doesn't leave a dry eye in Reminders of Him. In another 5 star novel she hits it out of the park once again.
Kenna, tragically loses the love of her life Scotty in a car accident after a reckless night of drink & driving. She will never forgive herself for this, nor will his parents.
Kenna finds it therapeutic to write him letters about her life. She does this often, while in prison and upon release. She makes it her mission to find their daughter Demi. She stumbles across a favorite hangout of hers and Scotty's, but it is no longer a bookstore, but now a bar and is clearly haunted by this as she enters she stumbles across the last person she ever thought she would see again, Scotty's best friend Ledger.
As she tries to rebuild her life and prove she is trustworthy and not the same person she once was, you will find Kenna may get sympathy she never thought she would get again, or will she? Is there more to that night than what happened in court? Told in two different POV between Kenna and Ledger
Kenna just wants to meet Demi, but Scotty's parents just can't forget her negligence that one fateful night 5 years ago.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my advanced readers copy.
I don't know how Colleen Hoover does it. She's able to create these characters and describe their feelings and thoughts to the point where you FEEL the characters emotions. You feel sympathetic, empathetic, you feel the characters pain and want to help them. This book brought out all of those feelings for me. I've found myself in the same position Kenna Rowan (main character in the book) has been in. I've been to prison before, i've been locked in the same cells that Colleen Hoover described in this book. Aside from Colleen being my favorite author, i was very intrigued to see how she would portray someone who's been in the same position I've once found myself in. It's almost like Colleen was in my head when it comes to the thoughts and feelings of being stuck in a prison. How she described the stigma of a woman going to prison versus a man going to prison was so very true. The helplessness and feelings of being alone all while stuck in a cell...i FELT the emotions that Kenna Rowan had in this book. I felt the regret and depression, the numbness that comes along with the prison system and the heartbreak of being alone with your thoughts in the process.
If i could give this book 10 stars i would- because it ABSOLUTELY deserves it. I've read the majority of colleens books, and most of them i'm unable to put down. This one just hit me at my core. Colleen proved that some peoples mistakes, accidental crimes, and actions don't define them for eternity. She proved that love and forgiveness can be given even in the midst of a tragedy. This is by far my FAVORITE book of hers, and i cannot wait to see what she comes up with next.

First of all I wanted to thank Colleen's team for giving me a digital
ARC of this book.
Colleen never disappoints and each book she releases destroys
me even more. But I don't mind.
This book was everything I needed. It was heartbreaking, tragic,
painful but it was also heartwarming and uplifting. I'm sad I can't
read it all over again like it was the first time.
This is definitely on my Top 5 Colleen Books. Thanks @ Colleen for
making me cry again. Also, please pay for my therapy!
Reminders of Him was by far my most anticipated read of 2022. My TBR plans went right out the window once I could finally breath again after finding out I was fortunate enough to receive an advanced copy! In all honesty I never even read the synopsis for ROH. I didn’t need to. Colleen Hoover is one of my favorite authors and I will read anything she writes. ANYTHING! 😍
Absolutely NO spoilers here, CoHo has done it again. I loved it! I loved the unique story, the unforgettable characters, and ALL of the emotions this one packed. Reminders of Him was a beautiful story of grief, heartbreak, and hope! It was engaging, unputdownable and you should absolutely read it!

Huge thanks to Colleen Hoover, NetGalley and Amazon Publishing for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review. I honestly loved it!! My review will be posted on Instagram and Goodreads.
"It was a stark realization that no matter how much you love someone, you can still do despicable things to them."
Oh Colleen Hoover, you ruin me. You completely ruin me, my heart, and my soul. Reminders of Him is Colleen at her best; contemporary romance that HURTS SO GOOD. There's no crazy plot twists, just utter heartbreak, despair, and love. While I was reading this book, I was terrified that it wasn't a HEA because it hurt so much. The way Colleen captured Kenna's grief and pain was beautiful. I felt like Kenna's story was MY story. I felt all the pain she felt, my body physically hurting at times. When I finished this book, I was curled into a ball relieved that it was FINALLY OVER but also sad because it was over.
Reminders of Him is some of Colleen's best work. It's poignant, emotional, and beautiful. I can't wait for this book to be released into the world. I can't believe I was able to get an ARC of this book and I feel so grateful. Huge thank you to Ashley at Amazon Publishing for making my entire year.

My thoughts:
Holy cow I DEVOURED this one. Read it in less than 24 hours. Could not get enough. What a gut-wrenching, heartbreaking story. But also hopeful and exciting at the same time. This book will stay with me for a loooooong time and I’m now obsessed. CoHo can do no wrong. This will be one of my favorites forever. The writing is beautiful and this was the perfect book to make my 100th read of the year! Also… the last sentence of chapter 42 and the epilogue 🥲😭 I’m not okay.

Read if you:
- Want to be a locksmith
- Make up words if you can’t remember the word you’re trying to use
- Need a book boyfriend in your life… hello Ledger 😍
Thank you to @netgalley and @amazonpublishing for my gifted copy of Reminders of Him, by the always amazing Colleen Hoover. This amazing, intense story is out on January 18th, and CoHo fans should definitely have it pre-ordered.
Kenna Rowan has just gotten out of prison after five years, and is starting over. One of her goals is to reunite with her daughter, but that task is much more difficult than she could have ever imagined. There is one person though who isn’t ignoring her or shutting her out, and that’s Ledger Ward, a local bar owner and one of the few links left to Kenna’s daughter. However, their connection and relationship could prove to be quite risky, as they get closer and the stakes for both of them get higher.
Y’all. Colleen Hoover knows how to bring out the emotions! She’s INCREDIBLE at writing such an emotionally charged story. You could feel the tension between Ledger and Kenna develop, along with the intensity of their relationship, coupled with Kenna’s desire to see her sweet daughter. There’s not a ton I can say without risking spoilers, but I truly hope all CoHo fans enjoy the journey within this book as much as I did.
I already want to go back to page one and reread. The book hangover is real and my heart is shattered and filled with so many emotions!!
It’s hard for me to put into words how much I loved this book. I went in blind and knew it would be a five star read for me just after the first chapter. The characters jumped off the page and felt like real people. The writing was raw and honest. The plot is original
and so much more than your typical contemporary romance story.
This is a story of forgetting the past a creating a new future. Its about not just forgiving others but also forgiving yourself. CoHo did such a great job taking her readers on a painful and heartfelt journey that you will not forget. Trust me, there will be lots of tears- sad, happy, angry.
This may be my favorite of hers to date. I highly recommend preordering this one!
Big thanks to the publisher for an advanced copy!!
SO GOOD.
Tugs at your heart strings in all of the most wonderful ways. Loved this one so much.
Thanks NetGalley and Amazon Publishing for my ARC. Expected pub date 1/18/22
