Unfortunately, this was such a slow and unspired read that I just couldn't connect with it in the slightest. And goodness I tried! The characters had no depth and the story didn't hold my interest. I'm sorry. I hate not leaving great reviews but this one just wasn't for me.

I found this book very slow and it wasn’t for me.
I didn’t feel invested in this book. I was very disappointed in it.

I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers and of course the author for gifting me this advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

I was so excited for this book as the synopsis really caught my attention - i thought the book was good but not great as was quite predictable but was still an overall enjoyable read.

Following the lives of Ed and Lily who have been in a rock solid relationship that has taken a turn for the worst and they are hanging on to it by a string. They have 36 hours before they are due to fly out to Iceland for their Christmas Holidays and in that time they need to decide if its going to be make or break for them. The story follows two different timelines outlining how they got to 'here' - 36 hours before their flight. The book shows the importance of good communication, especially in a relationship and how you really need to work with your partner to ensure you can both follow your own individual dreams without holding the other one back or resentment can kick in. There were times when the two of them frustrated me so much with the never ending misunderstandings between them and how if they had just communicated they could have resolved things a lot sooner and without so much upset (but thats real life eh!)

I really enjoyed this book. Based on Ed & Lily’s relationship this book covered both pov’s and changed between the timelines of then and now. This was a lovely easy read - despite wanting to bang their heads together and give them some sense!

Thank you to NetGalley and Publishers for an early eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sofia Due's debut novel is compelling and addictive and an emotional rollercoaster from beginning to end. I absolutely loved the characters and would welcome reading a sequel as there's so much more for them to say and do.
The writing has depth and I couldn't help thinking how welcome Lily would be on the border of Ukraine and Poland at the moment. Serious issues are addressed alongside matters of the heart.
An absolute pleasure to read.

I loved this book. Ed and Lily are beautifully drawn characters with a relationship that the reader can enjoy. The story is about so much more than the cover notes suggest, woven through with an insightful back stories, including into the world of refugees and aid work which I found really interesting. And it has a nice home for Christmas vibe. Highly recommended.

Ed & Lily have a problem. It’s the day before Christmas Eve and the relationship everyone believed was rock solid is in trouble. It’s not just the past getting in the way, it’s the present too.

They’ve got thirty-six hours before they fly to Iceland for a snowy Christmas break. Can they resolve their differences or will their plane leave London without them?

A story about love, loss and chasing your dreams. I was hooked from the first page. The writing is superb and enthralling and overall, I just loved this book.

The book jumps back and forward, between then and now, from the points of view of Ed and Lily. Will they be able to communicate and make their relationship work?

Hello my favourite non-thriller/fantasy book of the year.
This book….
It was such a relatable read. It was a fun read, but so relevant and pulled at the heartstrings,
Anyone who has ever been in a relationship, knowing that it is time to end it, but not actually raising the subject, will be able to relate to this book on so many leaves. .
So many things I read, I could just picture. I remembered things that had happened in my past and evaluated things that happened to me.
The story of Ed and Lily is truly unique, but such a popular theme. I just enjoyed being part of their journeyed seeing how they grew as people. The book was a real page turner. Anyone who has been through a break up, needs to read this book.

Cute story, a light and easy read. Loved Ed and Lily's relationship, but they also really frustrated me - wanted to bang their heads together throughout. A lovely ending, well written.

Ed and lily
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I think alot of people can relate to this book, in one way or another. I enjoyed reading both Ed and lily's perspective. And reading how it all started. Martin on the other hand truly broke my heart!
A great book thats easy to sink straight into.

Love, love, loved this book! 💙

From what I gather this is Sofia's debut novel, what a glittering start for this talented author.

Well written with a fab storyline & two great characters in Ed & Lily, I enjoyed getting to known them, their relationship woes & more of their backstory.

Many thanks to Rachel's Random Resources for my tour spot & gifted copy.

I enjoyed this book however the lack of communication between Ed and Lily was frustrating , you felt like shouting talk to each other ! at times. Parts of the book were all over the place but it kept me reading , just to find out what happened
An interesting read

I loved the pace of this book - it kept me hooked well into the night to the point that I was struggling to keep my eyes open but I was desperate to know what happened next between the characters! A fun little romance with loveable characters and an endearing plot.

More 3.5 stars

Really liked the story, lack of communication in a relationship the main theme. Chapters going back to a different year were fine but ending was messy I thought. One minute in Cardiff, then service station, then Mums, then London, train station, bus station, hotel, airport, probably somewhere else I missed. All in short space of time, I found that little confusing but maybe just me!

A Christmas book always brings a smile to someone’s face even if there are sad bits! Eventually it all works out ok. Well written.
