This was so fun and entertaining! The art style was so weird but it feels like it's part of Cartoon Network, and I love that. The characters were okay, some of them were cliche and annoying, and the plot was pretty basic, but it was still fun and I'm excited to read the next volume.
The first thing that got my attention about this graphic novel was the artwork. I loved the backgrounds but wasn't such a big fan of the way the characters were drawn. Arnold and Piero made me really uncomfortable just by watchin' them.
But something about the artwork I really liked was the fact that when I watched it I instantly got Cartoon Network vibes. This looks a lot like it could be animated tv show and I really like that.
Now, the story.
The story is not bad but there are a lot of details missing and things that make no sense, like why kids who traveled to the future in some few minutes act like it's something that happens every day of their lives? A normal person would be crying or maybe that's just me.
Everything also happens just so fast, like, relax please. This was supposed to be the first book not the whole series. I loved the plot twist at the end tho and it kinda explains why this story was so quick.
Now lemme hate the characters in order cuz' THEY'RE SO ANNOYING!
-Piero: I guess he was supposed to be annoying and the writer kinda wanted to explain his evilness with the thing with his dad but it's not that easy. I'd throw him to the monsters.
-Sara: She wasn't really annoying but she was barely part of the story. I liked the fact she uses cratches.
-Arnold: His only purpose on this was to be the fat cliche character. Not only that, he's also really annoying and his facial expressions make me want to punch him every second of his existence.
-Driss: I think he's supposed to be the nice one but he's barely there and everything he does is obsessing over Luna cuz' she's pretty.
-Mei: Another cliche character. She's smart cuz' she wears glasses.
-Antoíne: He's cool. I like him.
-Luna: She's cool. I like her.
-Every single person who's not from the 2021 group: They're cool. I like them.
Being realistic, I enjoyed it. It has pretty colors, easy reading, an interesting world and a cool lady with a bow. It's nice to read and I'm sure a lot of people will love it more than me cuz' this has a lot of potential. I'm really intrigued of what's happening next :).
Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this <3
This was a very cute little comic.
The gist is, a group of kids accidentally fall into a giant hole in a castle while on a field trip. After encountering strange and dangerous creatures and plants, they are rescued by a man who tells them they accidentally discovered a magical portal that sent them into the future. Now, these kids must find a way to return to their own time, which is as complicated as it sounds.
The story was pretty fun and interesting and all the kids were very likable, even Piero after a while. I can't say it blew my mind. It was a pretty basic little story, but still entertaining. It was well written and the art was pretty, full of colour that will surely appeal to teens and tweens.
It was a good read! Not my favorite, but not unenjoyable. The art style is very unique and reminds of the show Uncle Grandpa. A very dynamic cast of characters and an interesting adventure.
I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. Unfortunately this is a DNF, I couldn't get into it at all.
This was perfect. A group of teens in a castle? Of course I would devour this. I love it when authors create a large cast of characters that come together in novels or graphic novels doesn’t really matter. So honestly, this really was perfect for me I had lots of fun. I hope that soon enough I’m able to pick up a lot more from this author because I really did love this!
I loved the art and colour schemes within this graphic novel, but sadly the story fell flat for me. I struggled to connect with any of the characters, and the storyline feels like one I've read a million times over. This was a disappointing read for me.
Lost in the Future is the first book of the new adventure graphic series "The Storm". Four friends and one foe accidentally fall down a tunnel on a student field trip to an ancient castle. They come out on a new planet or at a different time, they don't know! It's like a new planet with wild and strange monsters. Also, according to the people of this place is the future, but it's like the past! All this doesn't matter because they try to stick together and survive to get back home.
A fun read with different characters and adventures. I look forward to the next!
Thanks to Netgalley, I have given an honest review of Lost in the Future (1. The Storm) by Script by Damián & art by Alex Fuentes.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
This story follows five children as they are thrown into a world unknown to them and have to learn to trust each other in order to make their way back home.
What first drew me to this book was the art style. I really liked the strong character designs which looked perfect for an animated show. The art is general was very nice and it gave a good sense of atmosphere.
However this content is aimed at middle grade readers and at times this led to it being a bit simplistic in terms of character development. I felt the story was meant to be read as part of a series and could have been set up better to stand on its own.
Overall I was not the target audience but this was a fun read that maybe could have done with a bit more plot or a bit more character from the other four children.
Content warnings; bullying, abelism (as a form of bullying), child abuse (in a flashback)
I want to thank the author for giving me an Advanced copy of the book via Netgalley in exchange of my honest review.
This comic is about some kids on a fieldtrip in an old castle, but something odd happens when they fall into the ruins of the castle and end up in the future.
I really liked the book, the plot and everything that happened on it was so interesting and so unique.
The book is also a fast reading that's why I finished it on a day,but something I didn't like it's the lack of intelligence in some of the characters, I know, they're kids but I feel that sometimes even a kid wouldn't do what some of them did.
Overall this is really fun and joyful, I enjoyed it, and it is not that bad.
I would like the next one, but right now I give this one a 4/5.
I recommend this to literally anyone who's looking for a short and good story.
From the "books for children should be utterly, utterly childish" side of things comes this fantasy adventure, where a few members of the school trip to a Crusader fort conspire to exit it into a completely different time zone. They are of course the disliked, who have clumped together – the one with crutches, the fat one, and a couple of others so paper-thin I barely registered their presence – and the most loathsome bully of theirs. So that's going to make for pleasant-to-read dialogue, eh?! It's little wonder a character from this is borrowed at the end to suggest we read more about these people in future volumes, because the idea would never have crossed my mind – this really was gaudy, nonsensical trash, featuring nobody worth giving the time of day to. You just know it's going to be a Quantum Leap-styled "what about now, are we back yet? No? What about now, are we back yet?" bore-a-thon. One and a half stars.
This was a fun read! I enjoyed how the characters changed throughout the story. Interested to see where they end up next!

Lost in the Future by Damian and Alex Fuentes is an action-adventure graphic novel that will appeal to fans of Cartoon Network's Adventure Time and The Amazing Adventures of Gumball. Seriously, when I saw the artwork in this graphic novel, I thought of those cartoon shows immediately. If you or someone you know is a fan of cartoons, then I highly recommend that you get them this graphic novel. The story involves a crew of students on a field trip when they get accidentally transported to an apocalyptic future when nature has taken over the earth. The students have to team up as they face dangers like monsters.
Overall, Lost in the Future is a great graphic novel to get for a fan of Cartoon Network's recent cartoons. One highlight of this book is the artwork, which seriously looks like it should be animated and put on TV. I did take off 1 star because I felt that the story was aimed at younger readers than me. That's not the book's fault. I'm just explaining why it wasn't a 5-star read for me personally. I took off another star, because I wasn't really engaged in the story, which might have had something to do with the intended audience for this book, which is probably younger. If you're intrigued by the synopsis, or if you're looking for a gift to get for someone who loves cartoons, then you can check out this book, which is available now!
