✨A Match Made in Venice by Leonie Mack✨

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Star Rating: ☆☆☆☆.5
🗓Release Date: November 9th, 2021

I absolutely loved this story! Mack gave us amazing descriptions of Venice which helped to transport me across the world into their fantasy. Swoon worthy honestly. The last quarter of the book had my heart soaring taken away with romance, that forever kind of love. Didi was a great MC whammy not have believed in romance from the start but found herself swept up.

A perfect feel good read for lovers of travel, romance, and all things in between.

👏Thank you NetGalley for providing me an ARC in exchange for my honest review

OMG What a cute read! Mack's A Match Made in Venice is a sweet contemporary romance that's sure to make you swoon. One of my favorite things personally was her world building ability to describe Venice and really transport the reader there with Didi and Peiro. While fairly predictable and slow to start, once the book got going I really enjoyed watching the characters interact as they grew with each other. I will say I was confused that it wasn't a holiday read given the cover, but it was still a great winter read.

“There's a simple honour in making something by hand. Human hands like to be busy. When the hands can't be busy, then eyes like to be."
- Piero Zanetti,

Thank you Netgalley for the eARC in echange for an honest review.

If you love travelling I love to recommend this book it was set in Venice and I am luckly to find and learn more about Murano Venice, Italy.

Didi was not a fan of romance, but her boss made her fly to Venice to look for Piero Zanetti a famous glass maker for their display at depatment store in London. Their first meeting was unpleasant and Piero turned down the proposal of Didi saying that he doesn't accept commission but she is the person who doesn't give up with achievable goals. She continue to go to Piero until the day of her flight to her surprise Piero go to her saying that if he could help her in London and invites him at Christmas eve.

A Match Made in Venice just never came together for me. I ended up skimming a lot of the story since the characters never really grabbed me and there was no real tension to the story.

Thank you, NetGalley for the ARC of the book.

This book was so sweet and so perfect for the holiday season. The setup of the book was really fun and I could already tell Didi and Piero were gonna be a lot of fun.

I loved getting pieces of culture in Venice and the fun little festivals they have around that time of year, it was fun and light. There was some angst and It did rip my heart a bit, because it definitely smacks you in the face.

There is a bit of spice because who doesn’t want some spice in their holiday romance? I know I do.

I think if you’re looking for a perfect holiday romance book for this season you should pick it up and give it a read.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. The cover instantly pulled me in. Honestly though, this one wasn’t for me. I’m not a fan of third person writing, especially in romance books. I found the characters not being my cup of tea and found it hard to finish. Just because it wasn’t for me, definitely doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give it a try!

I want to thank Net Galley and Boldwood Books for the arc of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. I have to say, I was really excited to get this book to read. The cover looked darling and I love all things Italian. We have a long awaited trip to Venice planned for next fall. The book, unfortunately, did not live up to my expectations. It was formulaic and a little dull. The main characters were unlikeable. The situations were unbelievable and silly. The descriptions of Venice were good, but that was about it for me. Sorry, but it was just not my style.
Deirdre is a no nonsense Englishwoman who goes to Venice to meet with a famous glassblower for a work project. She wants to plan a major Christmas display for a London department store . Piero is the glassblower, who has turned his back on his work after a bad romance. Dierdre has a mother who has a checkered romantic history and a sister who has had physical problems after an accident. These characters are not given a lot of depth or explanations, even as they continue to turn up in the narrative.Piero also has a family is just sketched in. The story focuses on the do they or don't they romance of Deirdre and Piero. It is a travelogue with a little romance. If you are looking for a fluffy type of story , this may be what you want to read.

Thank you to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC.

I love a holiday romance and I have always wanted to visit the streets of Venice so I was very excited to jump into this read.

I liked the setting of the story and as a person with endless artistic hobbies, I enjoyed some of the big elements of the story.

Unfortunately I found the pacing of the story a little off. I just thought the beginning was rushed and some plot points were introduced awkwardly.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this book. I've read a lot of romances where the heroine meets a mysterious foreign stranger and falls in love, but this book was nothing like I was expecting in a really good way!

Didi and Piero had a believable relationship, and it wasn't enhanced by the setting in Italy, if anything, it was hindered by it, because both characters are not romantic by nature. Two cynics both with very different reasons for their lack of emotion toward romance, and both with very interesting back stories to be revealed.

All that, and a look into the art of glass blowing, was enough to keep me entertained, and to ensure that I rarely put the book down. I highly enjoyed it!

This was a lovely book to read. It was sweet and easy and I just relaxed into it. I loved the descriptions of Venice and could picture the canals and the narrow alleyways in my mind’s eye. I will certainly be looking out for more books by this author in the future. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC. The cover is amazing. It involves Christmas and Italy, what could go wrong? Me not liking it apparently. I just could not get into this book. I tried, I tried so hard. I found Didi slightly annoying, and the mood swing Piero had, drove me crazy. The way Didi's mom treated her, made me want to go inside the book and slap her silly. This just wasn't the book for me. I mean no disrespect to the author, I just didn't like it.

A Match Made in Venice is as adorable as its cover. I don’t always like to use that word in a romance because sometimes it implies maybe there isn’t depth to the story. Yes, it’s a cute read but this romance also has heart-lots of it. You will love Didi and Piero, and without spoiling anything just know what unfolds is a beautiful love story amidst the backdrop of Venice and Murano. This book will give you all the feel good vibes of the season. It’s a romantic read with such a beautiful ending, a story that just makes you smile when you close the book. Perfect holiday read, perfect anytime read.

Thank you Leonie Mack and Rachels Random Resources for gifting me a digital copy of A match made in Venice in exchange for an honest review.
In a match made in Venice we follow Didi on a mission to find the very talented (and attractive) Piero Zanetti a glass artist whose work was in huge demand for her companies shop window.
I have really enjoyed reading a match made in Venice; I loved seeing the growth of both Didi and Piero as people throughout the book. It made me want to visit Venice and Murano so badly. Leonie Mack made me fall in love with a place I have never been and that is a gift. I can’t wait to explore other books by Leonie Mack to see where in the world I can visit next.

While I loved the setting of this book, it just was not one that gripped me. Leonie Mack has a fantastic descriptive technique; her writing brought me right back to my time in Venice, and the romance of the city. She captured the tormented artist in Piero so well. I loved the growth of the characters. I just found the premise to be a bit off. I don't understand Didi's hesitancy for romance for so long in the book. I also found some of the book was very descriptive and then some jumped ahead of what felt like important events. It just did not hold my attention. And when it did, I felt the pace was off and I often had to reread paragraphs to see if I missed something.

This is a 2/5 star book for me.

I will post my review on Amazon on publishing day.

My review will be on my Instagram @MzCookzBookz on Friday 11/5/21.

A special thanks to Boldwood books and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed this advance reader copy of this book all thoughts and opinions are my own.
When Didi York is sent to Venice for work she’s determined to stay level headed and not fall in love with all the romance.
Piero Zanetti is handsome and a great artist. After having his heart broken he’s lost his muse to create. But Didi is needs him to be working on the glass centerpiece that they had commissioned him to create. The longer Didi is there working with Piero the more she’s falling in love with the city and Piero exactly what she didn’t want. But will Piero be able to change her mind?

This was such a warm and fun book, I truly felt like I was in Venice and I have never been to Italy. Piero and Didi had such cute moments between them, they really grew and got to know each other as real friends before they became anything more than that. I think it was really fascinating to read about glass makers and the tradition.

This had the potential to be an incredible book but something about the too detailed explanations of Venice and the glass making process- I would have liked to have a little more focused on the couple and them teaching each other about their lives instead of watching from the outside. Sometimes the writing felt a little impersonal and even through that I still felt deliriously happy at the end with their cute little scenes and how they showed each other they were ready for love.

I skimmed through this book, I found it so boring and flat right from the beginning. Nothing drew me in, the characters had no chemistry and there just wasn’t enough going on, it wasn’t exciting at all. I absolutely love Venice and it holds a special place in my heart- but that still couldn’t save this book. Thanks to NetGalley and the free preview in exchange for an honest review.

Leonie has written another gorgeous love letter to Italy. She’s fast becoming a favourite of mine with her warm, relatable heroines, beautiful settings and brooding romantic heroes. I cannot wait to return to Venice for Norah’s story.

This was a really cute and funny romantic story about finding love in the strangest of places!!! It was an easy read with the main characters Piero and Deirdre meeting to discuss a.project that Deirdre's boss wanted Piero to do but he plays hard to get and so they end up spending more time together! I won't tell you the rest! I'll spoil it for you!!!
