This was a fantastic read from Sue Watson. This book is a psychological thriller, but also a whole lot more. There is the central mystery of ‘whodoneit’, but the book is also so relatable and fun to read. My favorite character was Georgie, who I felt was just like listening to a best friend tell her story when her point of view came up. The book was almost interactive in that I felt that I was part of the group figuring out the mystery.
The central aspect running through this book is "how well do you really know someone"? Even someone you have known forever. Sam knew Lauren since the first day of nursing school and yet, she had some surprises in store for him. Not to give too much away, but I would give this book 4 stars and recommend it to anyone who loves a good domestic thriller with a side of crazy!
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookoutre for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Georgie’s son, Sam was marrying his childhood sweetheart, Lauren. Georgie, a single parent, following the breakup of her stormy marriage. and Lauren’s parents, Tim and Helen were so happy. They were all together…one happy family.
Lauren and Sam were opposites. Lauren, a doctor was happy, wild and full of life, while Sam, who had a degree in Environmental Studies was employed by a National Park and was more reserved and conservative in his actions. Different lifestyles merging together.
Sam worked long hours and Lauren resented this, living in a cottage in the Moors away from civilization and felt isolated and scared.
But weeks later, Lauren is dead lying at the bottom of a staircase. An accidental fall? Suicide? Murder? Police cars fill the driveway of their countryside home. Sam is questioned by the police and Georgie senses he is hiding something so decides to investigate. She goes to Sam and Lauren’s house to have a look around and discovers that her daughter in law was hiding a dangerous secret.
The evidence gathered by the police reveal Lauren was deliberately pushed…and Sam soon becomes the prime suspect. And when he's arrested for her murder, Georgie, vows to clear his name.
Will Georgie be able to clear her son’s name? Sam loved Lauren. Who would have killed Lauren and Why?
This is an excellent fast-paced addictive psychological thriller/domestic drama that will keep you guessing, lots of suspects, secrets and twists along the way make this an addictive read. Twists and turns and volatile unexpected ending that I did not see coming. Highly recommended!

REVIEW/MY THOUGHTS:
I have not read any other books by this author, and have not seen anything about this one on Bookstagram; however, when I saw it on NetGalley, I thought the synopsis sounded so intriguing.
I really enjoyed this fast-paced psychological thriller! It kept me on my toes from start to finish, which I always appreciate in my thriller reads. I loved that there were multiple twists!
Although I flew through this book and recommend it, the reason for my 4 stars vs. 5 is simply because I figured out/suspected the killer from pretty early on. I prefer thrillers that leave me COMPLETELY shocked… however, I still recommend this book and really enjoyed it, because since the author included multiple twists throughout, I was still thinking “or wait… actually, did ___ do it?!” I loved that about this book! I truly think me figuring it out was maybe just because thrillers are my genre-of-choice, and I've read a lot of them. There were so many unreliable (and unlikeable, really) characters in this novel, that it really could have been any of them!
If you enjoy psychological thrillers and are looking for your next, quick read, I recommend this one!
Thank you so much NetGalley for the digital access to my copy!!

Thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book for an honest review.
This book isn't bad...it's just a little all over the place! The main character, Georgie, suspects everyone at some point and the ending is weird!

Lauren is getting married to Sam, only after a short time she is found dead. So many secrets to be revealed and in the end, I did not expect to find out that the killer is so close.
Well written, nice characters
Thank you Netgalley for this book.

Wow, what a rollercoaster this domestic thriller was! I started with the ebook and finished with the audio narration and thoroughly enjoyed both versions. I was so absorbed into this story that I realized I wasn't even paying attention to what I was doing in real life! The characters in this are just so fascinating. The author does an excellent job of confusing you on who could be guilty that by the end I was completely shocked. I felt for each of the parents and really didn't know who to believe up until the end. I can't imagine how tough this situation would be in real life and I thought Sue Watson did a great job of showing how difficult it would be to navigate between two families. It was definitely a bit unbelievable at the end but I still really enjoyed it. I can't wait to read more from Sue Watson. Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have always enjoyed Sue’s books and this one was no different. I had high hopes from the synopsis as the story seemed like it was my kind of book.
Sam and Lauren, after meeting in school are starting their married life together when Lauren is found dead at the bottom of the stairs
Georgie, Sam’s mother is convinced her son had nothing to do with Lauren’s death but as secrets are revealed and lies are exposed, you are kept guessing until the very end.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review

Big thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review

Have always loved Sues books and this one certainly didnt disappoint. Gripping from the very beginning, fast paced with twists and turns, and an ending i didnt predict.
Sam and Lauren are childhood sweethearts and have just celebrated their marriage. However a few short weeks later, lauren is found dead at the bottom of her stairs. Whilst this initially looks to be an accidental fall, it is suddenly turned into a murder investigation. Sam is arrested and his mother Georgie, fully believes him to be innocent. She battles to get justice and eventually he is released but the question remains as to who killed Lauren.
We are constantly given further titbits into friendships and relationships, some of them very long standing, with secrets revealed.
Highly recommend this fast paced read.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the arc of "The New Wife" by Sue Watson.
I discovered the author through Netgalley one year ago by reading her book "First Date" and it was one of my best reads that year.
Sue's stories are captivating, full of lifelike characters and lots of dialogue which I love.
The New Wife tells the story of Georgie and her grown son Sam.
She has raised him as a single parent after a troubled relationship with Sam's father ended early in his childhood.
Despite the lack of a loving partner Georgie feels she gained a family from the moment her son befriends and later marries his childhood sweetheart Lauren.
Georgie feels blessed to have such a close bond with Lauren's parents Tim and Helen and she loves seeing her son and daughter in law starting their lives together.
That is until that one phone call of her son telling her Lauren is dead....and the suspicious circumstances surrounding her death cause the big happy family to look at one another in a very different light...
Although I was invested in the story I didn't particularly like any of the characters.
I found that Georgie was far too dependable on Helen and Tim and gullible when things started to unravel..
The start of the book was quite slow but halfway through it picked up more speed. There was a nice little twist in the end as well.. Enjoyed it.

This was a great read - kept me up reading into the night. Lots of twists and turns to keep my attention. Definitely recommend this book!

Oh so good! A definitely page turner. This one kept me reading late into the night. Twists and turns galore. Definitely kept my attention..

Thank you to @netgalley and @bookouture for an ARC of The New Wife in exchange for my honest review. The book started off a little slow but gradually I was very interested in what was going on. It was a very tense read building to something and there were many twists. I had a few theories about what was going on and it really kept me guessing until closer to the end of the book. This is my first book by Sue Watson but I look forward to reading more by this author.
“We don’t always see the people we love, or the damage they do.”
“Over the years we’d shared so much, how could I have missed this? But we can never really know what goes on behind closed doors, and inside family relationships.”

Sam and Lauren are childhood sweethearts and their families are delighted when the couple tie the knot. But their happiness is shortlived as Lauren dies weeks after the wedding and secrets begin to unravel...
The New Wife is a psychological thriller set around an intriguing domestic situation. A terrible accident or a chilling murder? A bereaved husband or a guilty man?
The book is written from Sam's mother Georgie's first person perspective. I loved the way she fiercely stands by her son and feels devastated by her friends' rejection. Georgie felt really realsitic and I genuinely liked her tenacity and loyalty.
Meanwhile we see the other characters through Georgie's eyes. She thinks she knows her friends and family so well but gradually discovers that her knowledge of them is flawed and skewed. This drives the plot along as we share Georgie's journey of realisation.
I had loads of suspicions as there are so many twists. Everyone seems to be hiding something and Georgie doesn't know who to trust. There are even a couple of occasions when she starts to doubt Sam's innocence as he admits to secrets as well. The perfect life she had clung to is in tatters with her daughter in law dead, son suspected and her best friends' marriage crumbling.
The New Wife is a fascinating read as the plot unfolds and the characters develop.

I really enjoyed this fast paced novel. It was a little repetitive, but kept me guessing almost to the end. I've not read anything by this author before, but will in the future.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a free ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily.
This is the first book I have read by this author. I found the characters were well-drawn although not particularly likeable. There are a few twists in the story but none held any surprises for me, I thought it was rather predictable. The suspense was built but I felt the book was very slow moving. It's not the best psychological thriller I have read, although it's not the worst.
