Is this one of the hardest books I’ve ever had to review? Quite possibly. Sure, this love story is impossible. But writing a review for this love story? The ultimate test. There’s so much I want to say, but so much I can’t type out without ruining the entire premise.

In Impossible, Bee and Nick virtually meet after an explosive email is misdirected into Bee’s inbox and she offers a warm and witty response. From that point, the two begin a lengthy thread of humorous stories and charming quips. Their connection is instant, almost too good to be true. Well, not almost. It is.

Impossible is bold and engaging from the first page. I adore the comical charm of Lotz’s writing which feeds directly into her characters. Both Bee and Nick are easy to love, quick-witted, and their electronic interchanges are one of my favourite aspects of this book. Their romance is the kind a reader longs to root for, it’s light-hearted and fun, while showing potential for something wonderful. So it’s all the more heart-breaking when we learn what’s impossible and why.

I love the twist Lotz has chosen for this narrative, especially given that it’s a romance. There’s a nice balance between the love story, the emotional baggage of the characters, and the impossible. The writing had me laughing out loud, while I was desperate to see how this tale would end. On some occasions, I felt like the tension or excitement dipped, especially around the middle. And while Bee and Nick’s back-and-forth is entertaining, it can be repetitive. Nonetheless, this book has a unique and imaginative storyline, plenty of personality, and a twist that’s not just complex – it’s impossible.

This is a book that stays with you - the little déja vu moments that pop up, the weird feelings when something is new but familiar. It’s twisty and lovely and begging to be made into a film. I love the concept and all the sliding door moments, so original and such a good read.

What an amazing book. I loved everything about it - the characters, the dialogue, and the story. Brilliantly written, it captivated me from the first page and I could not put it down. To be honest, I enjoyed it so much that when I reached the end I was annoyed I'd read it so quickly.

Will be recommending to everyone I know and buying a copy for the keeper shelf as soon as it's published. It really was that good.

A misdirected email from Nick to Bea results in ongoing email communication and a planned meeting. This is an enjoyable romance novel with a difference ! It's difficult to review without giving away the plot or highly original twist so I would just recommend a read !
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC

I finished this book a few days ago, I needed a few days to gather my thoughts and I just can’t stop thinking about it. Blew me away!

This book was so enjoyable! A great story with an amazing twist. The characters were well-written and I really got invested in them. I was gripped and read it in one afternoon.

This is absolutely phenomenal - a love story started by a misdirected email from Nick to Bee starts a wonderful connection between the two of them, with in-jokes and secret understandings that make the two of them feel like they're destined for one another. After a few false starts, they go to meet in London -but what happens next is unlike anything I've read before. Inspired, wonderful, joyful and funny, I couldnt wait to find out what happened next
Some of the reviews give the main plot twist away which I dont want to do. But do yourself a favour and read it.

This has to be one of my top books of 2021. I requested an ARC based on seeing someone read it on twitter so I had very little idea of what the book was actually about and I'm so glad I did that!!

Firstly, there's a twist that happens about 1/4 of the way through that I definitely had no clue about, and being completely blown away by that was one of the best things about the book. I see on some book sites that within the description of the book they've included what the twist is and I have to say that's a huge spoiler for me. While it's a love story between 2 incredibly flawed and perfect for each other people (and I love those stories) if I had known before reading what the twist was I doubt I would have picked up the book. I would have written it off as being one of these books thats trying too hard to be original and is therefore incredibly disingenuous. Honestly that couldn't be further from the truth for Impossible.

Its a completely unpredictable and emotional rollercoaster of a book that charts the relationship between Bee and Nick. I found myself laughing and crying in equal measure and I finished the book in super quick time. When I wasn't reading it I was thinking about it, and when I was reading it I was praying it wouldn't finish. It's fresh, unpredictable and so well written. The characters are full of depth and vibrancy and I challenge anyone not to love it!

Thanks to Sarah Lotz, Harper Collins and Netgalley for the ARC.

Impossible? Incredible, more like! (warning: gushing review coming up!)

I absolutely LOVED this book. It’s like nothing I’ve read before and it was just a joy to read.

The story starts with a mis-directed email from Nick to a client who has treated him badly. Except it accidentally lands in Bee’s inbox and she decides to reply. As their emails pass to and fro, a spark is started! But then things take an unexpected turn…

I won’t say any more about the storyline from this point because it truly is unexpected and was delightfully impossible to predict what was going to happen next and what would happen to Nick and Bee.

As the story unfolds – told through a combination of first person accounts from Nick and Bee and the emails sent between them – there is a bit of everything. From sadness to hilarity, romance to intrigue, loss and a whole lot of ‘what if?s’.

I just didn’t know until the very end what was going to happen. And it was so perfect that I re-read the last part a second time!

This was such a stand out book and one that I imagine I will read again and again and buy people as presents!

This book... If you've ever had a stress dream about needing to get somewhere/contact someone but everything conspires to make it impossible (transport fails, phones don't connect etc etc) then immersing yourself in the pages of Impossible heightens that a hundred fold. Impossibly clever. Impossibly original. Impossibly good. Not hard to see why everyone is talking about it.

Such a hard book to review because I find it is still stuck in my brain/heart!
I loved the premise of the book whereby communication between 2 timelines/realities occurs via email and the clever detail of how those world diverge at certain points in each characters lives.
The love story was beautifully played out, modern insofar as internet dating is the new normal and yet still evocative of old style romances (meeting under a station clock is timeless!).
An absolutely amazing read!

Impossible starts with a misdirected email and from there an unlikely relationship forms. Huge plot twist happens fairly quickly which lays out that this novel isn't quite like any other. I did find the story quite difficult to get into, and at one point was considering giving up as it was getting hard to follow - though this could have had something to do with the formatting on my Kindle. I enjoyed the writing style and ultimately was glad that I stuck to it, If you're looking for something out of the ordinary you should give this a try!

I found this very enjoyable - I've not read any of Sarah Lotz's previous books though I know this one is a different genre to her previous works. I found the two viewpoints of Bee and Nick to be very distinct and humorous, and could easily understand how they would quickly become close over nothing but emails, and became invested in their developing relationship. I very much enjoyed the speculative twist to this contemporary love story - my only qualm would be that I found the ending to be a bit rushed in comparison to the pace of the rest of the book. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes romcoms - especially those with a sci-fi edge!

Really clever and different. I was absolutely hooked all the way through and didn’t want to put it down.

Utterly brilliant! I could not put this down and was so gripped by what starts out as just a normal love story but soon you realise it is impossible…

One of the best books I have read in a long time! It blurs the lines between romance and Sci-fi so well and I would love to see it on the small/big screen one day.

Review to come closer to publication but it is fantastic!

Such a cracking read.
It completely engrossed me for three days. The writing knocked my socks off and the story blew my mind, so it’s easy to see why so many authors are saying it’s a book they wish they’d written. Funny, romantic, heartbreaking at times and nail-biting too, it’s a proper “Oh my god, how will they ever get together?!?’ read. I loved it.

Impossible is a really good read, but is hard to review without giving any spoilers!
Both Bee and Nick are very likeable characters and I was really hoping that they would get together and live happily ever after.
Sarah Lotz has created a brilliant and very original book and I really enjoyed it. I would recommend not reading any reviews for risk of reading spoilers, and just buy and read the book.
Thanks to NetGalley for a Kindle copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A fascinating idea, of parallel worlds and crossovers between them. Complicated, and sometimes confusing, I absolutely loved it.

A very unusual love story, which kept me guessing right to the end. Which made me cry! No spoilers…!

Well this was absolutely amazing! What a fabulous concept for a story. It was both heartwarming and heartbreaking in equal measures! Not necessarily the normal type of book I would go for but I’m so pleased I did, I’d thoroughly recommend it to anyone!

Well, that was a bit of a roller coaster of a read, wasn't it?
Bee receives an email, unintended for her, and what is revealed through the course of her and the sender, Nick, is pretty impossible to believe.
I don't want to add any spoilers, but this really is an 'Impossible love story, and it sure takes you through the ringers!
I enjoyed reading it.
