Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for giving me free access to the advanced copy of this book to read.
Unfortunately I had file issues on this and it archived before I realised, will be purchasing a copy though as I love the sounds of this
This one was just really fun and cute to read. I am already a huge fan of manga and this was a delight to read.
I feel like I am too old for this and just found the story cringy but I'm sure teens and a lot of other shojo/romance readers would really enjoy it.
I felt like it was a very quick meeting & a bit cringy (says out loud what a beautiful face!) but
also very typical for shojo from what I've read. I also found it very typical that the love interest is rude and is going to start working at her dads diner causing forced proximity/friendships.
Her dad trying to set her up with him too made me a little uncomfortable, he literally admitted that he hired him so that she could date him...
I liked seeing her stand up for him against the weird fangirls but the change in his attitude and fake dating that came from the situation was a little unnecessary to me. The characters are so awkward and not in a fun way for me, and it did not seem to improve by the end.
One thing that makes me intrigued in this and not give it a one star was the mystery surrounding the boy and that he seems to have had a lot of negative experiences surrounding girls and is very cautious of everything around women. Also the fact he lives alone... why?
I don't see myself reading more volumes of this though.
I absolutely adored this book.
I lived the storyline; it was so cute!
I can't wait to read more volumes!
A very sweet series start.
Vol 1 of You're My Cutie is very comfortable to read. The characters and situation are entertaining and each character is sweet in their own way. However, the story is not - so far - as surgery as the title might lead someone to expect. Rather, the cuteness is incidental instead of a purposefully cutesy character display and somehow that seems to hit harder than a more obvious type.
Of course, as a reader you know, or assume at least, that the to main characters will end up together but their personalities and situations give you pause enough to hook you into wanting to watch their journey. Will they really become a couple? Will they even be able to be as come and stay friends? The awkward moments come in with perfect timing to keep up a shred of doubt running through.
Thank you to Netgalley and Kodansha for the opportunity to read and review this manga. I'll be honest, the first chapter of this manga at first gave me a bad impression of how this series was to go especially since the dude was being so mean. However, it did get redeemed for me by the end of the manga because of the artstyle and better character interactions. Overall, I am curious to see how this series continues so because of these points, I have to give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
"You're My Cutie" is a high school romance placed in a family restaurant. Madoka loves puppy boys who are kind, gentle and most of all, cute. With this volume, I discover that I like stories with characters that show this puppy dog energy but that are also goofy and very cute. I really want to keep reading this manga because the slow-burn is exquisite.
This was cute. Nothing that we haven't read before in shojo, but I still found myself flipping pages. This ended with a scene that left me wanting more and I already have the next volume on hold at my library.
This was unexpectedly sweet! I wouldn't say it was a particularly deep study of the effects of constant low-grade sexual harassment on a teenage boy, but it's fairly decent -- there's no victim-blaming or implication that "as a man" he shouldn't be bothered or should be able to stop it from happening, and the heroine is thoughtful about trying to make him feel comfortable once she realizes what's happening. I'm actually really curious to find out what happens next.
Cute characters, cute romance, but you've read this before. As a romance lover, I would give it 1-2 more volumes before deciding whether to keep or drop!
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book! The title and this beautiful cover drew me in and i was excited to read this book! I will be recommending this book to others for readers advisory.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
It was a cute and simple shojo manga with really nothing special to make it different from the others. The story is about a teenage girl named Madoka who is obsessed with shojo manga with young cute and innocent male characters who fall for their Sempai. She doesn't know that she might be living the same situation in a very near future.
It wan't really an exceptional read but it was very fun to read.
It's cute, much like the title implies. It was enjoyable but let's face it, you already know if this is for you or not. So read away.
I truly loved "You're My Cutie" though it was a very cheesy plot line with a slightly self-centered man and a dense girl, this trope was well written and portrayed. Once I started reading I had to finish it, as I found myself cheering for the two to get together. The art style really brought out the innocent vibe of the story and was beautiful. I would recommend this book for people who loved Hikaru and Kaoru in OHHC.
Cute manga about a romance between two teens. I liked the meet cute with this one and the overall artwork and themes present.
Thank you so much to the publishing company, Kodansha Comics and Netgalley for providing me with a copy!!!
I cannot resist a cute and swoon worthy read…and this definitely gave me my fix.
I am happy to add this to my favourite manga pile. And I cannot wait for the second one! The ending has me ready for the next instalment. I definitely recommend it if you love shoujo romance with charming characters and great character development.
It was a cute story, I enjoyed it! It's the kind of book you want to read wrapped in your blanket with a cup of tea: sweet. I might actually read book 2 when it comes out!
I was honestly bored while reading this book. The art is absolutely amazing but the plot was lacking creativity, I'm still holding hope that within the next volumes the plot thickens.
I really enjoyed the art style of this one! It fit the cute, fun theme and the book itself is a quick and fun read. I loved the chemistry between the characters and how the male MC subverts expectations around his personality. I just found the story a bit one-dimensional. I thought the side characters were not fully explored and our MCs could have had more development and depth. However both of these aspects could improve in future volumes!
