I adored this comic!! I immediately went and bought volume 2, and I really can't think of a higher recommendation than that, haha. Shikura-kun is very attractive and "cool" looking, and is used to girls being kind of gross and stalker-y, so from the jump he's rather rude to Madoka when he thinks she's putting the moves on him. But cool guys are not Madoka's type at all and she quickly puts him in his place - only to find out that behind this cool facade is the sort of clueless puppy-dog type boy that is actually her type. Oh no!

Their chemistry is just SO great. I love the moments he acts very gruff and turns away, but she can see his ears are blushing. AHHH, so cute! I also really love the times where Madoka has to squash down the little heart bubbles that try to form when he doesn't something especially clueless, like wandering away and getting lost like some Kindergarten kid. The fierce way they both try to protect each other, even when neither of them really likes the other much, is just so pure-hearted. I am in absolute love with the both of them and can't wait to see what develops in volume 2!

This was such a freaking cute manga! Madoka and Shikura were just so precious and he's like such a cinnamon roll! I love how Madoka's parents were the ones fully shipping this relationship. I really liked Madoka though, because she was pretty considerate of Shikura's feelings and trust issues about girls only getting close to him cause he was cute but not caring about his boundaries. The cliffhanger of this volume threw me for a loop because I was NOT expecting that AT ALL. And now I must read all volumes in this manga. Go read it. It's so cute. I was awwww-ing and giggling for majority of the volume.

6/5 Stars

It's a pretty nice story about a girl whose type is younger cute boys and how she meets a younger boy who is the complete opposite.
The plot starts of with the reader getting to know both characters and their personalities. Madoka (our FL) is a girl that works part times at her parents diner. There she meets the ML who also starts working there. He is pretty rude and distant at their first meeting. Which explains itself later in the way how the girls at his school treat him. We follow them getting closer and Madoka discovering more about him.
In summary, the story is a typical cute shoujo romance with the premise of an older FL and a younger ML (whose personality is different from his appereance).
Its the first story of the mangaka and has beautiful art with a good first volume.

Ep 2 of my reading slump series. THANKS TO MY READING SLUMP I was able to read this LIKE THIS IS SUCH A CUTE, FLUFFY AND QUICK manga !!!!

I didn't expect that plot route to be played but it was good. I liked how the manga showed that men can also be harassed and is not always welcome or need to be grateful for excessive attention and to be stalked. Like this was such a good rep for that scenario.

Overall, the characters are just cute, love the plot,

This was such a cute manga and one that I found myself needing right now!! I love having a scatter brained Male as I tend to find it's normally the main female character!

Honestly this was just so adorable, I loved the artwork and watching as the characters grow through this volume! Will definitely be reading the rest of this as it comes out!

This super cute manga is about a girl who is in love with with idea of cute younger guys falling for the older girl. Then her dad's diner gets a new part timer, who seems like the kind of guy she likes, until he shows his cold and aloof personality.

I honestly wish that the next volume of this manga was already out because I adore our main characters! We've only been given the tiniest glimpse into their backgrounds and personalities so I'm eager to learn more about them.

Their relationship has only just started to form, so there's a lot of potential for the next volume.

This manga had a nice balance of sweet and funny and I just know its only going to get better from here on out.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

You're My Cutie, Volume 1, by Nakaba Harufuji is a manga style graphic novel. Madoka is obsessed with shojo manga—specifically manga that features younger, innocent guys who fall for their Sempai. So she should be thrilled when a gorgeous kohai comes to work at her father's restaurant. Except that he is rude and standoffish and wants nothing to do with her. But when she protects him from some extra-pushy fans, he finds that maybe he's found someone letting his walls down for.

You're My Cutie is a fun and entertaining read. There was not a great deal of character development, although there are hints about more detail coming in future volumes. There was not much outside of Modaka's thoughts and ideas to the story, leaving readers with a fairly one dimensional look at just about everyone and everything around her. There are brief moments with her family and friends, hints that they could play a bigger role in the story, but it never happens. I liked the artwork, and thought the story as a whole was cute with some potential for more growth and depth in the future.

You're My Cutie is a quick, fun read with potential.

Here we have a basic romance that focuses on the idea of "cute boys" and what makes someone "cute" in another's eyes. The main character ends up working with a guy she had a nasty run-in with when he assumes she is hitting on him. She makes it very clear to him that he's not her type, but over the course of the manga, learns there is more to him that matches her type than she first realized. Him on the other hand, is so used to girls aggressively hitting on him, that he's relieved to find a girl who is not a threat. But does that change now that she does in fact like him? Interesting concept, but follows a lot of the same ol' troupes romance manga have these days. Pick it up if you're itching for romance material, but don't expect to be blown away.

Thank you Netgalley for providing me with the eARC.

Finally decided to pick this one up and am very much delighted by it. Requested this in the first place because:
1) I love shojo Manga
2) The female character, Madoka is also shojo obsessed. Like...... that's me (⁙˘꒫˘⁙)

Reckoned by the similarities, you can expect the partiality towards Madoka. I love how the manga starts with her gushing about the shojo she read; recognizing the essence of the said genre.

Howbeit, I wasn't a big fan of the male protagonist in the beginning. He made a bad first impression with the jerk appearance. Still and all, his character arc is amazing throughout which we later discover where his indifferences comes from. The matter that was set forth by the mangaka was distinctive compared to other shojo manga I've read before.

This also brings me to point out that this was my first time reading an older woman/young man couple which usually isn't in my best interest but this one was well elucidated and fit the tone. Couldn't wait to see what's in store for Volume 2 since the manga ends in a cliffhanger.

You're My Cutie by Nakaba Harufuji
Translated by Molly Karinen

You're My Cutie is a sweet, feel-good shojo manga, where the main character Madoka has an amusing obsession with cute younger guys. Here enters Shikura-kun, who seems to be the kind of guy that Madoka obsesses over. However, he turns out to be quite aloof, and he avoids women such as Madoka like the plague. Will Shikura-kun ever warm up to Madoka?

The story strikes the perfect balance between sweet and funny. Moreover, it was quite refreshing to have a love interest that was not the image of cool perfection, but that is instead a bit of a klutzy tsundere.

I devoured the first volume in less than an hour, and I already purchased the second one to read over the weekend. I found myself laughing out loud like a lunatic quite a few times, and I look forward to reading more of the series.

Madoka is a teenage girl who loves cute kohai, boy students who are younger than her. She idolizes kohai who are well behaved, kind and respectful. She works part time at her parent's restaurant by herself, aside from her parents, after school hours. That is until one day after school when she bumps into a cute boy. It turns out that the boy is a kohai that her father hired to also work part time. At first the boy is rude and standoffish with Madoka, but things start to change as they get to know each other!

The artwork in this manga is super cute! The story is told very well through the pictures and dialogue. Some of the facial expressions are very comical, as it is intended to be. I definitely recommend this to lovers of shojo manga.

I think it is going to be difficult to not fall for these two. I kind of cannot wait for book 2.

For Libraries: Right now, this appears to only be available as an eBook. Fingers crossed it gets a printing sometime soon for our physical graphic novel shelves.

You're My Cutie is a very true-to-the-genre shoujo romance manga and if that's what you're looking for, you'll love it.
We have the main character who likes cute guys and the "definitely not love interest" cute guy that starts working with her. Will they start slowly building a friendship? Definitely. Will they fall in love? I mean...
I really liked the characters - they are very human and believable, and cute (surprise!). The art style is also traditional, nice and clean. I'm also really curious about the next volume, as this one ends on a very nice cliff-hanger.
If you're looking for a cure shoujo manga, go for this one!

Doing a shoujo manga read definitely showed me that despite my dislike for young adult stories on novels, manga are of a different story. Perhaps it is because I have a certain expectation and knows how different manga textures are in terms of character building and story-telling.

The manga started really well; introducing us to the characters personalities and the possible trajectory of the story. The story falls into a relatively common trope for shoujo manga but it did not take the individuality of You’re My Cutie out of the story.

For the visuals, I really enjoyed the art style. I wouldn’t say that this is the type of art I normally lean on to. However, it is definitely one of my preferred style of drawing. The paneling followed a simple and traditional approach. It didn’t complicate things and that gave me the impression and singularity of the book. That fluff and cute storyline was really captured by not only the art but also the way the story was presented by means of its panels. Additionally, I find the background shading to be very cute. They weren’t too noisy and unobtrusive of the story, but they were obviously there. The attack on sound effects were really adorable as well and shaved off some of the serious notes of the story.

The characters were fantastic. The main character falls off on the bland category. Not in a bad way, but more on just a categorical perspective in line with the second main character. The love interest was multi-layered. Similar to the main character, you’ll have a strong sense of urgency with wanting to know more about him. So it’s not really difficult to relate to the main character and I think that’s what makes the story great.

Overall, I really like this book. The story was a good blend of cute young romance, fascinating characters, and a lovely work of art.

Overall: A gap-moe manga that is kinda cute and the dynamics of the characters that made puts a smile on your face

I honestly love a gap-moe characters. These are characters that looks indifferent but acts totally different from what they expect their personality to be. The dynamics between these two characters are super cute and I like that their relationship is progressing at a slow burn rate.

Short Summary
Madoka loves cute and innocent characters. Her ultimate dream guy is a cute guy, who is younger than her and needs protection and love and care. When her family diner hires Shikura, a part timer, they set off first with the wrong footing. Shikura who is good looking had been harassed all his life by girls who likes him, thus he thought Madoka to be the same. When Madoka defended him from fangirls, their relationship turned to be a better one. A cute story of a guy who trusts no one and a girl who keeps seeing layers of him that he didn't show anyone else.

My Thoughts
This was a cute and short read that will make you smile and laugh. Personally, the gap-moe character trope is one that was always being written, but one thing that I liked about this manga is how the mangaka wrote about the hardships of the guy having no privacy or whatsoever. In some ways, portrayals of guys being harassed is not something that has been put out in many mangas, and I like that the mangaka brought forward this issue. The fan girls that Shikura had was so extreme that it made him distrusts anyone around him. It inconvenienced him in such a way and in some ways I felt sorry for him. Shikura reminds me of Seo Jun from True Beauty :") The way he acts all cool and indifferent but its just this one huge puppy is just cute :")

I like how Madoka is in this manga. She's strong and knows what she wants and she doesn't let anyone treat her like a pushover. She's attentive to her surroundings, and takes good care of the people around her. The way she's careful on how to treat Shikura so that he wouldn't be uncomfortable makes her character very endearing.

Their relationship might start off on a bitter note but I somehow like how Shikura opens up to Madoka slowly because he's comfortable around her. The cliffhanger for the ending of this volume made me :") a bit, but I hope that both of them will be able to find happiness.

Recommended if you need a light and easy read :)

Thank you NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for the opportunity to read and view this.

T his sweet shoujo manga and is a very adorkable read.

The manga follows cafe worker Madoka who loves shoujo manga that features young innocent looking guys. When her father hires a new younger guy to help at the family restaurant, her meeting with Shikura does not go well.

As the story develops, we see that Shikura is not as he appears, and a friendship of sorts forms between the two, with their interactions being very cute and adorable, as neither one is sure how to properly act in front of each other.

Looking forward to the next volume!

I picked up the book for its title and definitely didnt expect it to be so cute! Shikura is the male lead in this story and is untrustworthy of girls due to past experiences, seeing his interactions with a normal girl like Modoka was honestly so innocently adorable! If you like cute, comedy, Romance manga I think you'll definitely like You're my Cutie!
