It's a cute story about a shy, popular boy who tries to confess to his classmate.
The story is written in the perspective of the guy, which is unique for most shojo stories.
Through this we are able to see his thoughts and feelings.
Overall, the first volume showed a fluffy and cute high-school shojo story in the perspective of the boy.

Thank you to Netgalley and Kondansha for approving this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a light and fluffy read filled with plenty of awkward moments. Definitely a great book for a palate refresher between heavier and longer novels. This one was also super quick to read.
Although, Natsuaki came across quite childish. I also found the amount of times he mentioned anything Nashida said or did as being 'cute' was starting to get a little annoying.
great first volume, the design is good and the subjet is interesting. I cant' wait to see what going to have in the second voume.
Thank you NetGalley for the eArc
"Doing His Best to Confess" By: Satoru is a cute high-school based romance with main characters Natsuaki-kun and Nashida-San. It took me less than an hour to read this Manga it was adorable!! I enjoyed the two characters dynamic and will definitely pick up the next volume. The art style was also very pretty.
Okay, seriously?
Is there anything that guy doesn't fine "cute" about the guy?
The amount of times he said cute for every damn thing in this simple one volume was insane.
This definitely could have been way better with the same characters and settings.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Okay, this was so stinking cute and fluffy! When I read the blurb I wasn’t expecting too much from it because it sounded like your basic everyday shojo, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this! This manga follows our male protagonist Natsuaki. On the surface he’s the handsome and aloof high schooler everyone adores from a distance. But in reality, he’s actually super shy and lost in his own world. One day though Natsuaki falls head over heels for his odd ball classmate Nashida, but will he be able to build up the courage to confess his feelings to her? Will he ever find the right moment? Read on to find out!
Natsuaki was just the sweetest little cinnamon roll, I absolutely loved him.. His secret pining for Nashida was so freaking cute I couldn’t stand it.. I mean come on, I just want someone to look at me and think that the way I stuff my face with food is adorable. While this didn’t invoke any super unique or groundbreaking tropes/plot lines, this was so cute and I definitely plan on picking up more volumes I’m the future (especially with that cliffhanger!). I found myself smiling like a fool the entire time I was reading this, and I think you will too.
Doing His Best to Confess is such a cute and adorable read. I managed to finish this manga in less than an hour.
The drawing of this manga is so beautiful. The story is nice too. What I love most about this manga would be how Natsuaki-kun overcome his fear in order to save the person he cares about, Nashida-san. ((Although she doesn't really need a saving 🤭))
Perfect for anyone who is in need of some cute, humorous and easy read. I'm so looking forward for more of Nastuaki-kun and Nashida-san content as this manga ended with a cliffhanger.
I willingly request this arc from Netgalley so the review is solely based on my honest opinion.
Thank you to NetGalley & Kodansha for this e-arc
I must say I LOVE THIS MANGA, it is so wholesome and heartwarming. This is the first time I read manga from a guy perspective and I love it. Natsuaki-kun really love Nashida-san and every time he stares at her really caught me off my guard. HOW CAN NASHIDA BE SO DENSE AND NATSUAKI WITH HIS POKER FACE?! I am absolutely in love with this manga, I am relieved I manage to get to read it. I am not regretting this. Totally in love!
This was a very straightforward manga and set up the base story really effectively within the first few pages. Natsuaki is well-liked by his classmates because he looks dreamy but what most of them don’t really realize is that he is actually just an airhead. So when the girls would squeal over how sophisticated he looks while staring out the window in his cute little vest Natsuaki is wondering about the silliest things. He isn’t the best at reading people or signaling them what he wants so it is lost on pretty much everyone that the reason he keeps staring at one his classmates is because he thinks she is cute. They haven’t talked a lot but Natsuaki is set on asking out Nashida. As he tries and fails to confess his feelings the two end up spending more time together and bond which just makes Natsuaki fall for her even more.
I liked that the manga was quick to set things up and used the storytelling very effectively. It’s almost instalove but I liked how innocent and sweet Natsuaki’s attraction to Nashida was. It was also refreshing to read a shoujo manga from the guy’s perspective and to have a male lead that is actually treating their love interest with kindness and respect.
It was a nice and super cute read. I liked the fact that it's reversed (the guy liking the girl), it's a nice change. The artwork is stunning, and the end makes me want to read book 2 asap!!
Maybe the only thing that bothered me is that, yes it's cute and fluffy, but maybe too much? I probably expected more instead of the MC always being like "OMG I love her, how do I confess?", and it made me wonder if the "cuteness" of the FMC was all that attracted him
More than anything, the manga projected an extremely funny and adorable atmosphere with a strong emphasis on being a completely comical read.
What makes this manga enjoyably funny is how dense all the characters are. I cannot even comprehend how weirdly stupid they are. It wouldn’t be right to equate such airheaded personality for their age—taking into consideration how all of them are an absolute birdbrain. It didn’t feel peculiar at all how their personalities are. Consequentially, I believe that it gave a strong character for the book itself.
I wasn’t the strongest fan of the art style. It has a weird combination of your circular fluffy shoujo manga drawing with sharp contrast on other aspects that didn’t personally sit right with me. The easier way to say it is that it was a considerable combination of a classic shoujo and yaoi style with sharp features that is laced with a mixture of a more modern airy drawing style.
Overall, I had a good laugh with this manga and I think that it served its purpose in the Com aspect of RomCom. It was a wee bit weak for me in the Rom area but I have an inkling that it will propel itself on the subsequent volumes to come.
Doing His Best to Confess is a very fun, sit-com type of romance manga., in which the main character is (spoiler alert!) doing his best to confess.
This is the funniest, light-hearted manga I've read in a while. It's ridiculously cute, especially if you're into awkward and/or dense people romance. It's a light read, well suited for fast reading, or sneaking in a chapter or two in your break. I'm definitely reading the next volumes.
I'd recommend this manga for anyone who likes fun and cute shoujo mangas, or is generally looking for something wholesome.

Special thanks to Netgallley and Kodansha for providing the e-ARC in exchange of honest review.
Firstly, as always I'd say about the art style, and I love this one! I think the art style is suitable with the vibe and the genre which brings so much fluffiness when I look at it. There's also a lot of chibi version of the characters alongside the story and it makes the experience more enjoyable.
What makes the story interesting is the male lead, Natsuaki looks really handsome and aloof but he actually has sweet feelings for one of his classmates. As he always looks cool and doesn't interact with everyone, it is hard to tell what he's actually thinking about. Even when he tries to express himself, his face doesn't show exactly what he's feeling. I find this personality of his is really adorable. For real, I found myself saying how cute he is, over and over. The way he gets shy every time the girl he likes acted cute unconsciously makes my heart blooms! Both of them are so innocent, I love it!
The chapters are short and it is in different situation for each chapter which makes this an easy, super light read. Even though the story is about Natsuaki trying to confess his feelings repeatedly, it doesn't feel repetitive because there's always something to look forward to. We also see other sides of Natsuaki, not only the usual day-dreaming/pensive guy.
Overall, I'm definitely rooting for the male lead to be with his loved one! The ending is such a perfect cliffhanger and now I'm waiting for more!! Definitely a suitable manga for cute and fluffy shojo manga lovers!
THIS WAS SO CUTE! We follow a guy who has a crush for a girl and he downs have heavy facial expressions so no one knows because he has this “cool guy” face most of the time so this whole volume he’s trying to find the right way to confess his feelings for this girl and it’s so cute. I’m excited for Volume 2!!!!!!
I wasn't too invested in this story. It felt like every cliche romance manga, but more cheesy. That's all I really have to say about this read.
First of all, I would like to thank Netgalley and Kodansha for providing me an e-ARC of the book.

Overall: A very light, cute and coming-of-age manga that will put a smile on your face
This manga was just a delight to read if you're feeling stressed or just wanted to have a light read. Its VERY cute, its heartwarming and it reminds you of an innocent love that gives you butterflies.
Short Summary
Natsuaki is this so called prince in his school. He's good looking, he always looks aloof and cool. However its far from his real personality. He's aloof because he's shy and always lost in his thoughts. He has a cool face due to his really passive personality. He somehow has a crush on his classmate, Nashida, a cute girl who's as oblivious as him. Its the journey of a an innocent guy who wants to confess his love towards the girl he likes and it will give you butterflies.
My Thoughts
I honestly like it when a shoujo manga is told from the perspective of the guy. If its from the perspective of the girl, it will be another very cliche manga. However, since it was told from the perspective of the guy, it makes this manga super cute that leaves you smiling the whole time you're reading it.
The gap in the personality of Natsuaki, of his cool exterior with his really aloof and shy personality makes the storyline more cute. His efforts to confess was subtle but leaves you just smiling over how innocent he is. He's always finding everything that the girl does cute and did things that is out of his comfort zone to make friends with her. Its both endearing and makes me really root for him. I like that he's just this really awkward guy who just wants to confess his feelings to the girl he likes.
Overall
This is an innocent-cute story that will make you smile and just laugh at some if his antiques. The drawing style is super cute and the plot progress is a slowburn but a wholesome one. Can't wait to read Vol 2 to see wether his love did work out or not <3
It's like 11pm and I've just finish to read this manga.
It's really so cute!
Natsuaki is the most popular and handsome guy of his class. He's in love with his classmate Nashida but he's shy and don't know how to confess.
I think that the characters are really cute!
The drawings remember me about some manga that I read when I was more young and I really liked them!
Natsuaki is the most popular of his class but he doesn't seem to realize it, I like his clumsiness.
He did a lot of researches to understand how to confess but at the end it will do it in a natural way (can I say "kawaaaaiii?" ).
I would like to hug Nashida 'cause she's so cute!
In the end: I really liked this manga and I recommend it!
This manga was very heart warming! Natsuaki is trying to find a way to confess to a girl he likes and the innocent ways that he keeps trying is so innocently cute! This is a great feel good, comedy, romance manga! The FL being oblivious to all the situations only made the manga better! I love that the male lead is also oblivious to all of the other girls swooning over him! It hilarious and I love the whole innocence of the plot! Definitely reccomend this manga to anyone who likes a good laid back read!
Cute cute cute!
Oh the classic story of the popular guy falling for the weird girl. He's suddenly confused and shy. And he definitely doesn't know how to confess his feelings to her. It was also very interesting to see the story from his point of view.
Their interactions are so pure and adorable. Reading cozy, lighthearted manga is my new favorite thing.
By the way, the artwork was to die for! So If you are looking for some romance cuteness, I highly recommend this manga.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for an eARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Super adorable story. Loved how even though his face is fairly expressionless he still gushes about everything that has to do with her. The male lead is slightly clueless when it comes to confessing and misses some opportunities to confess. It's extremely sweet to see how much he likes everything about her and how genuinely happy he is just to be around her. With that cliffhanger ending I'm going to be waiting for the next volume to come out.
