This isn't a good you read cover to cover, but it is great to use as a conversation starter at a small party. I've brought the questions out twice now with a group of friends and also a group of students.
I like that there are so many questions, most are silly, but some can be quite thoughtful (or at least the way a person answers them can be). It means you have lots of options to choose from and means the book can be used multiple times, even with the small group of people. This book is fun as an ice-breaker or even a filler activity.
Would You Rather is exactly as it sounds. It’s full of over 3000 ‘Would You Rather’ questions that are broken up into groups specifying what type of questions they are.The author also includes a brief history of the game and it’s rules at the beginning of the book in case you are unfamiliar with the game.
This book was fun and definitely entertaining. I did all the questions myself and played it with my brother. We had a good time laughing and being surprised at each others answers. I highly recommend this book if you’re a fan of the Would You Rather game or if your just looking for something to pass the time.
Thank you, NetGalley and Arcturus Publishing for an arc of this book in return for an honest review.
Lots of fun, this was a great book to use whilst playing WYR and really made for some interesting conversations. I find this book wouldn’t stand the rest of time though and would need to be updated to stay relevant
Would you rather read 100 news books that each say basically the same thing, or have one classic book that stays relevant? If, like me, you are in the latter camp, this book is not for you.
It isn’t bad. I just don’t see the purpose of it. I use this game in my classroom as oral language practice for my ELL students, and to get the more hesitant native speakers participating in discussions. I already have a few different “WYR“ books on my bookshelf, but I was hoping this would have some new, clever, creative, or interesting topics. Unfortunately, the only thing that marks this book as being a contemporary addition of the “same old, same old “ are the cultural references. However, most of them would be unfamiliar to my non-American students (and even Americans under and over certain ages), and almost none of them will be relevant within a couple years.
I really like the cover, so I was interested to take a look, but it’s a pass for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC in exchange for my honest opinions.
Love this book and a big thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy!
My family had great fun with the questions, they are really thought provoking and give a dark insight into our real selves! Well, if we answer honestly that is...
There is a good range of questions in the book, not all are not for everyone, but, you know, if it's not relevant or appropriate for your audience, just move on.
Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy. Some of the questions are a little inappropriate or not understandable for younger children. I recommend putting an age range recommendation instead of saying “for all ages.” I will definitely recommend this to our school library and upper elementary classroom teachers.
'The objective of Would You Rather is to ask intriguing questions, have fun answers, and share a laugh. '
Would You Rather...? The Hilarious Game for All Ages definitely accomplishes that! I laughed so hard when asking these silly questions to my husband. My favorite section was You're Only Human...Or Are You?
*Disclaimer: Does contain a (few) questions about drinking or getting drunk.
My kids absolutely loved this book! It is great for a brain break or just conversation starters. It was fun for all ages!
We loved this book! My family would randomly ask “let’s read the Would You Rather Book” it was a great over dinner game! Well not all the questions are over dinner appropriate but there’s so many questions you can pick and choose. Plus this will be fun for years to see how peoples answers change over time!
A great game book certainly for all ages and any group can play. Leave it on the table when having people over for a fun night of games, game night, a dinner party or a Tupperware party, Christmas party or a family get together. A fantastic way to open up conversations or new connections. You can choose out of 17 categories, some are funny, some are a little far fetched, love, sports and games, a deep and meaningful even for anyone who loves the yuck questions. This book of Would You Rather questions are meant to be hyperthetical to see what yourself would choose and why; answer while others are listening and thinking about their own choice to the question. Let the questions go as long as you can go or use a timer. Certainly a great book to keep handy on the coffee table for a nice and cosy rainy or stormy night or day.

Reading other reviews of this book, I must really be an outlier. While others wrote glowing reviews, I could not help but feel that this book was a real waste of time. Very silly questions, not thought provoking at all. More like questions you would expect an elementary student to ask. I guess that I am not the target audience for this book. I don't want to jeopardize any chance of success for the author by leaving a bad review on any of my normal review sites, so I will just leave this here and call it good. Sorry!
What a fun book, I took it to a dinner party and played it with my friends. We had a laugh and learned some strange facts about each other.
Stumped for conversation starters on a first date, social gathering with people of all ages or a simple hang-out wit friends? This book will come to rescue. It has >3000 questions divided into 17 categories ranging from the silly to the astute.
You can pick and choose your questions depending of the age levels within the group and their interest.
Check it out and never run out of things to say! You will end the day (or night) knowing a little bit more about each other.
Fun book for car trips or parties. Some interesting choices. Would make a great gift. Thanks for the chance to read it
This is a fantastic collection of Would You Rather questions! These kind of questions make great journaling or discussion prompts for my middle school students, but could work for many age ranges. My kids really got a kick out of a particular question about licking armpits. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who loves playing Would You Rather, or who would just like a good laugh.
This is a great collection of WYR questions, and will be a fun addition to my classroom library. My kids will enjoy these as our question of the day.
I really enjoyed this as a game for the family or equally for use as a debate in class with teaching groups!
As a Mum to two daughters, I have played more than my fair share of Would you Rather. and at times coming up with new and original questions can be really tough. Look no more - this book is jam packed fall of questions that make a really fun and entertaining game that the whole family can play together. Some of the questions are a bit random, but depending on who's playing you can easily skip and pick out the most age appropriate ones.. A great conversation starter for dinner parties, ice breakers and after dinner entertainment. Love it!
I think this a great book, not just for hilarious party games but I think it would be great book for interview questions, conversation starters and those really irritating "Work roundtable" things where you have to say an interesting fact about yourself.
It's got plenty of room for extra thought and interpretation and none of the questions were too personal or inappropriate. I enjoyed looking through and having conversations with my husband.
Absolutely love this book. My 16 year old son and I have laughed so much over the last few nights going through some of the 3000 questions. Some of them are really bizarre and it makes you question which option you would choose and why. It's then been a talking point for why we chose a particular option over the other.
This would be a fantastic game to play with all the family (avoiding the over 18's questions, obviously) as even young children would have fun picking "this or that" and discussing why.
It's great having the ebook version as I can bookmark some of our favourite sections and its so easy to just pick up my iPad and delve in.
Really pleased to have the opportunity to discover this book and I know we will be using it on a regular basis.
Thank you to netgalley, the publisher and the author for an ARC.
5 stars for pure entertainment value.
