Fun book with lots of great conversation questions. i love playing this type of game with friends and family. Great time with teenage granddaughter!
This is a really fun book to use as a conversation starter with a group of friends or with your children. Some of the questions are a little crazy but I loved how unique they all were. Overall the book is very thought provoking and I really enjoyed reading over them and having very random conversations with my friends and family.
As much as I read, I'm amazed I've never encountered this game. I am, however, glad I now have! I think this would make for really fascinating conversation among friends. There are enough scenarios in this book keep play for months, I'm sure! This would make a great gift for someone who enjoys games of this nature. Fun read!
Would you rather...? is quite an interesting read. Meant to be played as a game, it is sure to be a fun way to break the ice with people and can be used in all environments (work functions, parties, with friends and/or family, or even by yourself). It also gives you something fun to do when you're in a holding pattern waiting for something or someone.
The wide variety of questions and categories make this appropriate for all ages, and guarantees that you'll get to know the people around you (and yourself) better!! This would make a great gift. Kudos to Julian Flanders for coming up with a book that can be fun for everyone.
My thanks to NetGalley and Arcturus Publishing for permitting me to read an e-copy of this book. All opinions stated in this review are my own and are freely given.
What a fun book! There are rules in the front on how to use this as a basis for a game, but I thought the questions are so thought-provoking and conversation-starting that it is just a brilliant thing to have around to fill any spare moments you have with children.
Really like the idea of asking questions that don't have a right or wring answer but make children consider their answer and justify their opinion.
Definitely a book I'd like to have to hand at all times during my working day (in a school) and at home with my own children.
Fun book for the whole family to play and really cool to uae on your kindle whenever you have free time to just pull it out and play and learn about people
We've all played this casually, right? Usually with really gross or sexual questions. It's a great way to fill in a bit of time and get to know people. But isn't it tough thinking of new questions all the time, questions that will actually give a bit of insight?
Not any more. With more than 3000 questions divided across 17 categories, you'll never run out of funny, silly, astute questions to ask. Some might have to be modified slightly, for instance any that ask about school if there are grown ups playing, but there's a huge variety here. I was trying to work some of them out as I read, and while some were easy or obvious, some are real conundrums!
Although the blurb promises screen free fun, I'm going to cheat slightly by keeping a copy of this ebook downloaded on my phone at all times. My friends and I will never be bored waiting in queues again. And apart from that, some of these are excellent writing prompts! Next time I'm blocked, a random prompt and some free writing might see me clear.
This is a great read, perfect for anyone from kids right up to oldies. Fantastic fun.
An amazing amount of Would You Rather questions. Ideal for times when you can't think of any more questions to ask. Some are disgusting but you can bypass these. You can pick questions at random or work your way through the book in order. I'm sure my daughter is going to love working her way through these. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book.
This book is ideal for the forthcoming festive season giving inspiration for a family game, particularly amongst the adults. Needless to say I've not read every single word of this book but can see the potential and give us inspiration for a fun activity over Christmas. I know my son-in-law will definitely be up for it and will buy for him as a little extra. It is a wonderful collection of ideas for this game as often one just can't think of actual questions if suddenly put on the spot for a game so with the myriad of ideas in the book there is plenty to go with.
This book is brilliant. The questions are really stimulating to the mind and gets you thinking really quick. Also it is set up for more than one format of questions -- It's a smart and funny way to get you to interact with other people in your life and I for one plan on requesting this book from my library before it publishes. This is such a good book of questions. I was really impressed!
Thank you to Netgalley and publishers for the complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review.
This was a surprising delight. I used this book for a date night with the hubs and it was fun. Some of the questions really make you think! I am glad i picked this up!
Our family are game players, most board games, but this is going to change things a bit this holiday season. There are questions there that will make for some interesting answers and may even uncover a few things some of us don’t know about each other. I can’t wait to play this with the whole family!
So much better than I expected and some really unique questions in there! Fun way to spend time with family!
This is a relatively well-done collection of would you rather questions and scenarios. There are some unique questions for consideration, but some are rather generic. The collection is touted as being for all ages, but it’s not entirely family-friendly. I found some questions to be rather disgusting, to be honest. As it was, this provided a bit of entertainment. Just be prepared to screen questions as you go.
There's definitely plenty of fodder here to start some good conversations! There are game instructions at the beginning that make it sound like this is geared toward middle-grade kids, but the questions are definitely not all appropriate or relevant for that age group (this is stated in the introduction). Nothing is obscene or vulgar, but there are questions about drinking, one's lover, etc.
We tried this out with a 12-year-old. It was easy enough to skip over what wasn't relevant and there will still hundreds of questions. Some sparked laughs, some were real thinkers, and some inspired some good discussions. With older kids this would be great to download on your phone to have conversation starters on hand for car rides, waits at restaurants, etc.
A note for US readers: there were bits of UK/Commonwealth English ("trainers" for sneakers, and the like) that might need clarification for younger readers.
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
Pros: As I type this review, I just finished reading questions from this book to my family while we are on a road trip. It was a great way to start conversations and learn things about each other. I can see this book being a good source of ice breakers. I appreciate that there are prompts appropriate for all groups of people.
Cons: The questions got a bit repetitive, but with there being so many questions, that’s really not a big deal.
Thank you to NetGalley and Arcturus Publishing for the opportunity to read this book!
Fun game! Fun to find out not only other peoples answers but your own!! Think this would be fun on camping trips, sleepovers and family get together.
My thanks to NetGalley and Arcturus for a copy of “ Would You Rather ,,,?” For an honest review.
This is such a good idea for a book .I’ve only skimmed through at the moment because “ I’d rather “ when playing this game , have not thought out too much how I would answer !
I think this could lead to some thought provoking and funny conversations .
Ideal for those quiet moments over the festive period.
This book is such fun and perfect as a stocking filler for Christmas as it would be perfect round the table for all ages!
Ideal for breaking the ice in situations with new people also, I am going to pick up a paperback copy as well as a kindle copy so I always have it to handle.
Plenty of scenarios/would you rathers to never get bored discussing? Lots of laughs to be had and discussions to be started.
