I really enjoyed this book by Sam Blake. Full of twists and thrills. Lies, deception, double crossing making a great crime read. Didn't really warm to the characters but enjoyed the plot.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for an Arc in exchange for an honest opinion

Remember my name by Sam Blake.
If she'd turned off her phone, instead of listening in, perhaps no one would have died...
When Cressida Howard catches her entrepreneur husband playing away from home, she hires security expert Brioni O'Brien to get the evidence she needs for a speedy and financially rewarding divorce.
I did enjoy this book. Lots of action. I liked the cover. Great story and characters. 4*.

A real tale of deception, lies, double dealings and crossings, all following various stories and sub plots that are linked and come together in the end
Now I wasn’t keen on any of the characters,I think thats intentional but the dislike caused me to read more as wanted them dealt with/caught etc and be aware the main character Cressida is very angry, with her hubby mainly but with life in general as well, she is not one for holding back her judgements on folk
It is a book full of surprises and unexpected events and keeps you guessing throughout, there are a couple of good twists and the ending I had guessed but literally just the page before, can’t say why but it made me shake my head at one of the characters duplicity!
Well written and full of drama,it will keep you on you’re toes and like me want to look at the authors other books

I was attracted to this book as soon as I realised it was set in Ireland. I love all things Irish so this was a promising aspect for me immediately.

This is a book which is filled with twists and turns. A psychological thriller at its finest. I have been completely gripped by this addictive page Turner.

This is well-written and unlike anything I’ve read previously. I have been able to sense the tension as I’ve read this. Cressida is convinced her husband is being unfaithful. She has hired help to ensure that she gets a decent payout in the divorce.

This I have found realistic with the times we live in. The plot has been a little slow initially but as soon as it picked up and you had the knowledge you needed this has been a fab read. Blake uses points of view from different characters in this book- I always enjoy this element as it allows you to really get a feel for each of them.

Alongside Cressida wanting evidence of the infidelity, we have someone who is keen to destroy husband Laurence. Which has really added tension and intrigue to this for me. I have been unable to work out where this one was going and have found this an interesting read.

This book did not hit the spot for me., though it’s well enough written. The story of Cressida Howard and her cheating husband Laurence, and their seventeen year old daughter Emily Jane started off promisingly. But then the cyber security expert Brioni O’Brien enters the narrative, quite by chance, it seems, then the story takes a creepy and sinister turn. It also becomes too implausible for me, as events become ever more unbelievable.
The characters are all thoroughly dislikable, I could not summon any empathy for any of them. Not even Emily Jane, who had her own side hustle going on. It was so hard to relate to them.
It’s the oft- repeated theme of the ‘strong women versus despicable cheating men’ once more, I personally am tired of this worn topic in novels. I would appreciate some originality in a storyline.
My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance copy of this book.

Cressida Howard is married to Laurence Howard, the founder and CEO of the Howard Group Hotels and Ferryman – a high-tech lifestyle platform that has become the go to for everyone, whether they wanted to buy flowers or book a flight. The Amazon for lifestyle! After Cressida inadvertently overhears something at the tale end of a phone call to her ruthless, workaholic husband, she is finally certain that her husband is playing away from home, but this time she may actually be able to get the proof that she will need to be able to fight him in a divorce. Ferryman is worth millions and Cressida knows her husband well enough to know that Laurence Howard is the type of man to fight her for every penny. Before he can lawyer up and cover his tracks, Cressida enlists the help of tech whizz and cyber security expert, Brioni O’Brien to do some discreet digging to find out exactly what’s going on and hopefully get some undeniable proof of an affair or affairs as it may be.

Brioni and Cressida’s deep dive into the more secretive parts of Laurence’s personal life and empire ends up uncovering more than infidelity. As a web of blackmail and debit are slowly uncovered, Laurence is starting to lose count of the enemies that are piling up, so when an attack on his business and an attack on the women in his life coincide, there are too many suspects for Laurence to know where the attacks are coming from. Someone is out to destroy Laurence and the empire he has built, no matter what the cost. And if Brioni and Cressida don’t put the puzzle pieces together and act fast enough, Cressida and her daughter may well end up as collateral damage.

“One man taught a lesson is one more for the sister hood”

Brioni O’Brien
The story is set in Dublin, Ireland and is told from the POV of Cressida, Brioni and Cressida’s seventeen year old daughter, Emily-Jane. The female characters’ in this book are aplenty and they are strong women, supporting other strong women… Mostly! Sam Blakes’s writing is superb and although there are multiple POV’S and a lot of twists throughout this book, she lays the ground work and as you progress through the story, what seemed like meaningless information at the beginning, comes back around and fit nicely to make the puzzle pieces fit together to form a twisted picture. In my view, Sam Blake seems to be joining ranks with the likes of Chandler Baker with her feminist themes of strong women taking control of their lives and following their own trajectory. I highly recommend Remember My Name, I wasn’t able to read the book as quickly as I would have liked – being busy with Christmas prep. But each time I managed to pick my kindle back up, I fell right back into the story and lost myself again for as long as I was able to.

Wow-what a book!

You rarely find a book that ticks all of the boxes of things that excite you; this is arguably one of the best thrillers out there.

It has murder, tech; it's fast-paced and references current affairs to make it relatable.

A thoroughly enjoyable read with twists and turns throughout - difficult to put down, and well worthy of 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher Atlantic Books for an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Really compelling characters, and a good plot.
This is an interesting story set in Dublin about an over ambitious man that hatches a plot that doesn’t quite go to plan. His wife Cressida suspects him of having an affair and when she hires someone to investigate she finds out more than she bargains for.

I really enjoyed the Irish setting and I enjoyed some of the plot more than others (some of the foreshadowing re gifts received were oh my gosh moments). Unfortunately the ending fell a little flat for me, but good writing and I’d pick up another book from this author.

‘When Cressida Howard catches her entrepreneur husband playing away from home, she hires security expert Brioni O’Brien to get the evidence she needs for a speedy and financially rewarding divorce. But what Brioni uncovers goes beyond simple infidelity. Because Laurence Howard is also in bed with some very dangerous people. Bribery and blackmail are the least of his worries as someone comes after the women in his life – someone who is out to destroy Laurence and his empire, whatever the cost. And Cressida and her teenage daughter could soon be collateral damage, if she and Brioni don’t act fast.’
I really enjoyed reading this book. It is full of so many twists, turns and surprises – which is everything I love when reading a book. This is one of them books where you are told a lot of what may seem at the time as unnecessary information at the start, but as you progress it all makes sense and you realise it was all needed.
The story is told through the perspectives of Cressida, Brioni and Cressida’s daughter Emily Jane. I have very mixed feeling towards multi point of view stories, as sometimes I find it hard to concentrate on the different point of views, and sometimes I like one narrator and not another. Luckily for me, I really liked all the narrators and I found it very easy to follow.
If you are looking for an interesting thriller with many twists and turns to read this holiday season or maybe even a gift for a loved one, then this would be the perfect book!

When Cressida overhears a female voice in the background when her husband phones to say he'll be late home, it makes her wonder if he's having an affair. So she hired Brioni, a friend's sister to get her evidence for a divorce. At first this seems straight forward until events take a sinister turn when one employee collapses at work and another dies.
Can Cressida and Brioni work out the culprit before the assassin strikes again?

Cressida and Laurence , on the surface seem to have it all , but Cressida is convinced Laurence is having an affair. She calls on Brioni to find out what she can by hacking in to Laurence's emails and financial affairs . Doing this Brioni finds out some disturbing information about business deals that Laurence is doing behind his partners' backs. She also finds out that he has employed Nina a computer expert to find out anything about his partners' vices and secrets , this she has done to help a company Laurence wants to join with despite his teenage daughter's dislike of the company . This all comes to a head when Dirk Ackroyd CEO of the company Speakeasy comes to visit Laurence at his home. Murder and mayhem throughout with many unexpected twists along the way.

If you haven’t read Sam’s thrillers before now, add them to your to read pile. Fans of the author will be thrilled to see Brioni O’Brien back in action – she was in Sam’s previous novel’s High Pressure, which came out in September 2021. This time, Brioni isn’t a student, but a security expert, a woman skilled in getting evidence of wrongdoing for her clients’ benefits. On this occasion, the privileged Cressida Howard wants to ensure she’ll get a speedy divorce from her entrepreneur husband thanks to his infidelity. However, what Brioni discovers is a lot more than playing away – let’s just say that Laurence was getting in to bed with some dark, dangerous people, people who wouldn’t think twice about getting rid of Cressida and her daughter if necessary. It was great to see Brioni back and she is definitely a great literary role model, going against the grain in many ways to succeed.
