Woman of my own heart! I have saved so many cards, letters, feathers, leaves, etc... I am a crafter and try to incorporate ephemera, but there is just so much! I am somewhat familiar with the idea od collage, but havn't ever pursued it artistically. This book might just be what I need to get started! Loads of ideas and how-tos. Step-by-step on tools, colors, and techniques. Incorporating stencils and rubber stamps.... Great book! I look forward to purchasing it!
Stunning collage samples
Inspirational and fun
Collage is real art! You can find it in magazines and art galleries.
Unfortunately, will only encourage me to keep every scrap of pretty and interesting paper & junk for my collage work.
A very good one especially for those who are looking at making collages.
Well explained and beautiful pictures and idea's.

This is a really inspiring book. It gives ideas, techniques as inspiration. I have gathered many pieces of ephemera over the years but have been anxious about starting projects. This book has given me the confidence to make a start
The art of collage has never come naturally to me. However, after reading this book, I instantly wanted to grab some paper, scissors and glue to create a collage of my own.
"Collage Your Life" covers all the basics: tools, techniques, colour theory, composition, balance, values, etc. I loved how it provided prompts to help get you started, as well as profiles of collage artists.
The aesthetic of the book was beautiful and I learned so much from it. More importantly, it inspired me to make my own creations. Loved it.
What a great book! The basics are nicely presented and quite brief, which is great because the value of this book is in its prompts and the introduction to some really amazing and not very well known (at least by me!) collage artists.
Can’t wait to buy a physical copy when it comes out
Collage Your Life is exactly the type of book I seek out, and I am so glad I got to take a look at this! I can't wait to buy a physical copy of it to have as a ready inspiration for creating my artwork. I love the colorful images and informative text! The tone is very positive and moves you to think creatively and just get making without fear of doing it wrong. There is a lot of helpful information on the basics of collage including substrate ideas and other fun collage materials. Adhesives are introduced and explained, as well as basic design and color theory. I really thought that the book presents the information in a fun, approachable way that inspires action through its abundant ideas! I love collage and have done a lot of it, but I still found more ideas to try and so much inspiration.

Most of us have made collages. We've used child safety scissors to cut pictures from old fashion magazines and made a sticky mess pasting them onto construction paper. And, really, it's still that much fun; but if you read this book, you won't have to worry about the sticky mess part. "Collage Your Life" covers the materials you'll need (construction paper probably isn't the base layer you want to rely on), techniques & design basics to give your work depth and perspective, the merits of various adhesives, and provides prompts to get your imagination moving beyond those kindergarten collages. One section demonstrates how to make your own book (junk journal, smash book, etc.) to house your collages. "Collage Your Life" shows how you can use collage as a method for visual journaling. Bonuses include how to make your own rubber stamps and stencils. Definitely inspiring and a great way to use craft supplies and materials you probably already have on hand. Several collage artists are highlighted in the book providing further inspiration.
This book really draws you in. For the colour and art alone it is worth a read. It is very bright and imaginative and gave me so many ideas of things to try. The brilliant thing about creating collages is anyone can do it and you don’t need much to begin. This book goes over how to get started, different techniques to use and most helpfully some prompts to set you off and find your style with. I think this book is pretty versatile for both complete beginners and people wishing to expand into different art forms or try something a bit different.
Thank you very much to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Prompts on prompts on prompts. I would have enjoyed a few more technique tutorials as those were very helpful and descriptive.
Beautiful images throughout, through probably lofty aspirations for the beginner.
Collage Your Life is a beautiful and inspiring craft book aimed at all stages and ages to encourage people to create vibrant collage pictures and projects. It is an inexpensive method of crafting that is open to everyone. There is information on materials, methods and a good selection of projects to have a go at. The instructions are straightforward, and lots of ideas and prompts are given to get your creative juices flowing. The pictures are beautiful and inspiring and light up the book.. It is a great starter book for anyone wanting to have a go at the craft.
This book is organized very well but is definitely very wordy. The images and collages shown in the book are beautiful.
Just as you can write in a journal to document your life or clarify your thoughts and feelings, you can collage to record or reflect on your life. That's what this book sets out to help you do and, to me, the author did a fabulous job.
I like the thought-provoking prompts. There is a wide variety to help you get started - one of the most difficult things to do sometimes. Lots of examples and inspirational stories from various artists help a lot as well.
Collaging would make a great activity to do with a child or a small group of people. One of the best things is that you can use material you can find around your house.
I love the bonus at the back of the book that shows you how to make your own books!
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a beautiful book!
Mowinski shares basics for creating a collage including supplies, preferred glue, and other tips. There are beautiful pictures outlining how to make a collage along with prompts for different themed collages.
It's a good book for those looking for different mediums and ideas to be creative with.
I recieved an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. A great creative book about making collages. Geared towards adults but kids might also like and gather ideas from.
A vibrant and wonderful instructional book for collaging! This book gives a straightforward, but detailed overview from needed materials, methods, and a huge variety of creative projects. I loved the variety of prompts. The collage images and projects are gorgeous and unique. This is a perfect place to start if you want to learn about collages or are looking for inspiration!
