I was really excited to dive into When She Disappeared. The idea of a small-town mystery, a missing person, and buried secrets sounded so intense and right up my alley. But honestly, it didn’t grab me the way I thought it would.

The beginning was pretty good, it sets up this eerie, small-town vibe where everyone has secrets, and you can feel the tension building. There are definitely some twists that caught me off guard, which was fun, but as the story went on, I started to lose interest.

The pacing felt really slow in parts, and I didn’t feel super connected to the characters. They started out interesting, but they never really developed enough for me to care about what happened to them. The mystery itself wasn’t bad, but it didn’t feel super original—it kind of followed the same pattern as a lot of other thrillers I’ve read.

I also thought some of the dialogue and character interactions felt kind of awkward, like they didn’t flow naturally. There were moments that were supposed to be really emotional or shocking, but they just didn’t hit me the way I think they were supposed to.

Overall, When She Disappeared had some good moments, and the premise was cool, but it didn’t totally live up to my expectations. I think it might be a better fit for someone who’s newer to mysteries or likes a slower-paced story. For me, it was just okay.

Teaming up with her old friend Austin, Margo dives into investigative reporting to uncover the truth. The story is filled with twists and misdirection, leading to an unexpected conclusion.

Margo returns to Lake Moss after 15 years away to look after her father who has just had surgery. She left after the death of her mother and the disappearance of her friend Jessie. As she returns a body is unearthed in the lake by school kids.

Well, this was a little town where everyone had secrets and nobodys alibi seemed believeable from the night of Jessie's disappearance. Margo was persuaded to help her old friend Austin and the film crew with the interviews and it felt like her being there rubbed people's backs up the wrong way. It was quite unnerving when she was being followed.

I didn't expect the twist at all and was shocked by it. Although once known, things that had previously happened or been said clicked into place. A little disappointed in the ending as it felt abrupt.

This is a slow burn thriller. I felt like the pacing was a bit off in this. The ending was a surprise. I felt the book lacked excitement and didn’t have enough twists and turns

Jessie went missing as a senior pupil but the towns people believed she had just left home because of a fall out with her boyfriend. Years later, as students were jumping into the local pond, Jessie's body is found.

Margot was Jessie's best friend at school and happens to return to her childhood home on the morning that Jessie's body is found. She finds her old diaries and the story flips between present day and those last few days before Jessie disappeared but she starts to doubt whether to trust her memory and the people around them at the time.

A story of friendships, trust and jealousy. A good read

There was a lot going on in this book. I really liked the premise of it, but I was confused the entire book as to who was a reliable narrator/witness and who wasn’t. I enjoyed the read, but it wasn’t super exciting or thrilling. I received a free copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

This book was intriguing. I liked the plot, I would suggest it to those who love reading a good thriller.

This was a thrilling read that keeps the reader entertained until the end. And what an end it was! Recommended.

When she disappeared was a tense experience a an atmospheric book with a gripping plot! Having read only thriller/suspense books I was able to guess some parts but a few still took me by surprise. I thought the main character was great! I loved how the author didn't strive for perfection from her but then neither went the other way and made her out to be unrealistically flawed. Margo is an average, next door girl, pretty much content with being a wallflower. I was very interested in knowing how her story panned out and offcourse wanted to see her solve the Jessie Germaine case which kept me turning those pages. Towards the end of the book, the plot got more compelling for me! I really liked all characters in the book but especially Margo. The storyline felt familiar but because of the unique characters, this was a good experience. I would recommend reading this book!

After catching up with Austin, her old school friend, Margo is thrown into the world of investigative reporting. Can they discover who murdered her old school friend?

There is a lot of little red herrings scattered through out the book, with the ending being a kind of surprise. It was also left quite open ended, if you aren’t a fan of books with ambiguous endings then I would probably give this a miss!

A fast-paced, gripping read with a great twist. We follow Margo as she returns after 15 years away from her home town, to a place full of secrets and mysterious characters. It's a great setup with story that goes in many different directions before it's all neatly wrapped up in a satisfying way. Recommended. .

Gripping intriguing and addictive. I love this book. This has been one I have devoured in just one sitting

Wow what a story, very powerful and gripping. This book for me was a real page turner, i wa gripped right to the end and coudlnt put it down. I ended up dreaming the story and what coudl have happened before i read the next bit. Lots of twists and turns and a total shock at the ending.

Dark thriller that had you hooked from the off. The book was very well written. Great plot. Very exciting. Fast paced to get your heart racing. Loved this book

The plot line of this book is phenomenal, the execution of it…not so much. For starters, the main character Margo, is immensely unlikeable. At times you want to throttle the woman. She’s insecure, melodramatic, and quite possibly psychotic. Though, the character of Jessie doesn’t fair much better. By the end of the book you almost understand why she was murdered.

This one was a lovely read. I really enjoyed reading this one. I just love this kind of books.
