A compelling new book from the author of Something Like Happy. Ohh the storyline was fascinating, deep, intense, thrilling, and shocking!

This is my first book by Sasha Greene and I wasn't quite sure what to expect, I enjoyed the story and this authors writing style. The characters are well developed and the plot flows well. I will definitely give this author another try in the future.

A fantastic second novel from @sashagreeneauthor

Having read 'Trust' and Sasha's first novel 'Something Like Happy', I just love how she tackles really difficult issues in such a thoughtful and sensitive way. This is one way to ensure these topics are spoken about more openly.

Trust focuses on Jenny, who has just lost her job and is heading to the Scottish Highlands for some time away from London. It is soon established that she lost her job for speaking up against unwanted advances from her boss, the after effects of this assault impacting her hugely, understandably.

Jenny meets Nadeem, an ex army medic and their relationship develops. Their love story draws you in immediately, their openness and honesty with each other upfront is quite startling and let's the reader in on their personal pain. At the half way point of the novel there is a key plot point, which I had seen coming however there were plenty of unexpected reactions to the situations in the second half of the novel.

The focus on PTSD is managed very sensitively. The emotional and physical reactions from flashbacks and triggers are really well described and I think it was important to have the contrast between someone dealing with their war experience versus someone dealing with an experience in their normal office work life. PTSD is often associated to war but people suffer with it from a variety of different experiences, it is a very personal struggle.

I found myself thinking 'what would I do here?' in Jenny's situation. Her strength and resilience shine through and I think the ending will be viewed differently by readers, again a very personal decision.

Highly recommend this and look forward to more from Sasha Greene.

A quick read that I mostly enjoyed. The only thing I didn't like was some of the scenes with Nadeem following Jenny's disclosures (no spoilers!!)
