Great read for elementary level students to help understand cat behavior and how to interact with them to build a good rapport. Fun facts are peppered throughout the text with helpful illustrations sporadically included. Short bios about historical or culturally famous cats are also included as interesting trivia. Advice for those looking to adopt or foster a cat are also included in a separate chapter. An overall great resource for a budding cat aficionado!
I received a free digital ARC from Quirk Books via NetGalley. This is a cute non-fiction guide to cats and cat ownership for ages 7-12. The text is easy to follow and broken down by section well. A brief history. The illustrations are nice and not childish. The interactive portion at the back of the book makes for a better book to own than borrow from the library. It includes quizzes and a notes section for recording types of cats you’ve encountered.
This charming and informative book about pet ownership is perfect for young and old readers alike. The illustrations were interspersed throughout the non-fiction book, lending visuals to help readers comprehend new ideas. The author stressed several times that cats have particular needs and we should respect their wishes and make adaptations to accomodate their needs. This will be especially helpful to those new to owning cats.
The author also dispelled several myths about cats and pointed out the facts in a clear and easy to understand way. There were even some fun sections about coming up with a name for a cat or figuring out what kind of cat you may like.
I didn't follow the Twitter account that this book was based on, but you needn't have been a follower to enjoy and benefit from this book. This would make an excellent gift to any new pet owner, and will be well-loved by all ages.
I am a woman in my (early!) 40s who has read dog knows how many books about/featuring cats, and even I learned something from this book: Lincoln was a cat person! But there's so much more in this book, making it perfect for the young cat fan in your life (or the young at heart who really likes cats). Thanks to NetGalley for providing a digital ARC!
This is the perfect book for any child to read. especially if the family are thinking of having a new family member. A cat!
Lots of useful information. How to approach a cat. How to pick it up. What signals it gives off. Cats from his. The book also tells us how to look after your new moggie. There is even a section for cat spotting. I am mum to Bagheera(Baggy) the Scottish Fold.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to see an arc
Pet That Cat! is a handbook for young readers about all the essential information you'll need to know about cats from adopting, picking out your new furry companion, learning cat behaviour and how to befriend any kind of cat. The illustrations are adorable and it's very informative for anyone who wants to know more about cats.
There is a quiz, a checklist and log for the types of cats one may encounter in the world. A very cute and informative handbook for cat lovers.
I would definitely recommend this one for young readers (and adults too!) who are thinking about having a cat as a pet. Thank you to NetGalley for the digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.
