Ah poor Lottie. It was heart breaking at times to imagine the pain she was in as she processed her grief and I could well imagine how much harder it must be to lose someone after a short time- as if you can’t justify your pain compared to others who loved them for longer. It was a great premise for a novel and a lovely story overall. I really enjoyed reading about the relationship Lottie had with her sisters too, such a tight knit team and in my opinion that was the most important relationship of the tale- far more so than any romantic love. This was an easy read, so much so that I finished it in less than 24 hours- tears and smiles are always a recipe for a good book!
You meet, you click, you fall head over heels and then he dies. All in a short time span. You grieve, you get angry, you hurt and try to cope.
Supported by your sisters, one older, one younger you feel the love but also feel inadequate, you aren't married, no children, no high flying career. Where do you fit?
A very moving story about love, loss, family dynamics and making sense of pain.
It is a poignant story but still uplifting despite the heartbreak.
I really enjoy Claire's novels and this is no exception.
A sweet story without being too trite, a good romance without being too samey either.
A super cute, albeit predictable chick lit novel. The character of Lottie is adorable. Nothing ground-breaking despite the topic of death being quite prominent, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
This was a good book, there were bits I found difficult to read but that was just because I wasn't in the mood for sadness so completely not the fault of the book. Would recommend.
This is really subjective and not the author's fault at all but I just don't like her voice. I had the same problem with Married at First Swipe, strong concept but the way it was told, particularly the dialogue, just set my teeth on edge. Had to DNF it.
Oh this is just magnificent!!!! What a beautiful read! I loved everything about this book and can’t wait to read more by this author
I blitzed through this book over the weekend as I just could not get enough. Light and witty I enjoyed every second. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Not my usual genre of read but I thoroughly enjoyed it even though it was sad in parts.
It was a well written book with good characters and it held my interest from the beginning until the end.
I can definitely recommend this book and thank you to Simon & Schuster for allowing me to read it.
Having enjoyed this authors other books I was looking forward to this and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Once I had started reading it I couldn’t put it down and it is a book which will stay with me for a long time as felt like a life affirming read and highlights that life is to short and you never know what js round the corner so live it like your last. The one covered a lot of sensitive topics and sought to highlight them in a relatable way and looked at the friendships between sisters, grief, heart conditions and infertility and how life can take you by surprise. This book has definitely created a lasting impression with me and I can’t wait to read the next book from this author.
I have to say these romance books are fast becoming my guilty pleasure. I've been trying to expand my reading genres beyond mystery/thrillers and am glad I've done so.
I really enjoyed this novel. I won't write out the plot again, the synopsis for the book explains it well enough and is true to the story of the book.
However there are a number of issues explored in this book especially the bond between the sisters which I thought was great and so true to life.
Books like this live or die with the main character and Lottie is definitely the kind of person you will fall in love with. Although not faultless, she is such a real person and a very realistic portrayal of someone who has experienced grief and dealing with the fallout.
I would recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys this genre and thanks to Netgalley and Simon & Schuster UK for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advance copy in return for an honest review.
Lottie thinks she finally found the “one” in Leo but when a tragedy happens we follow Lottie as she tries to come to terms with everything.
I really enjoyed this book, it’s a book about family, love, loss, and jealousy of other people's lives, thinking they are perfect when in fact they aren’t. I personally thought the ending was very beautifully written.
100% would recommend everyone to read this book when it’s published next year.
I loved this story. The main character is so likeable she will seem like your best friend by the final chapter. When Lottie meets Leo in the ultimate meet cute on her lunch break it seems she has finally got her happy ending. Life is rarely that simple and tragedy is heading her way when her happy ending is cut very short . Picking herself up again Lottie has to examine her short relationship with Leo and all other aspects of her life, including what she sees as everyone else's happy life. This book was such an enjoyable, funny but deep read that made me want to get to know all the characters, especially Lottie. I recommend for anyone who has dealt with grief, loss or who had to let go of a dream. Totally brilliant
It was readable but I struggled with the sadness of the book and the main character who I really just didn’t get on board with. She just felt too young
