Nicholas Ballantyne is living a peaceful life in Glenmire, a retreat in the Himalayas, with his mind at peace after the intrigue and bloodshed serving with the British East India Company.
Peace is a precarious thing with ever warring Martial Marathas and the Rohilla Afghans and it’s not long before Nicholas is reluctantly back in the thick of the action.
With danger from everywhere Ballantyne wonders if the Company can survive. Not only are there problems with the Company, there is the ever dangerous Hyder Ali and his son the Tiger of Mysore, backed by the ruthless French, who would like nothing more than ridding themselves of the British forever.
Can Nicholas survive and hopefully get back to his life of peace and quiet?
A fantastic sequel to Fortune’s Soldier. Authentically written with a brilliant atmosphere throughout and the main character is just fantastic.
A great piece of historical fiction which I very much recommend.
The long-anticipated sequel to Fortune's Soldier, from the author of the Empire of the Moghul series. To have a book that is well written as well as entertaining is a delight. Reading is about escaping your world and entering another one. The word building was phenomenal in this book.
