This was a fascinating thriller about a murder where any of the possible suspects had already been ruled out as the perpetrator due to alibis or forensic evidence. Told in two time frames, that of the day of the murder and around six months later where several of the people involved are still frustrated that the murder is still unsolved. The victim, Jane, was on honeymoon at the family’s resort and very unhappy that her new husbands ex wife and fiancé were also holidaying there along with a married police couple and four other couples. For me not many of the characters were likeable but they were fascinating which made them good to read about, the mystery was frustrating to try to solve and the pace was steady but consistent. This definitely kept me wondering and the events when revealed were unbelievable. 9/10
i wasn't aware this was part of her crime series, i don't mind those books but i much prefer her stand alone novels, i was disappointed to discover this was part of the series.

Sophie Hannah is a genius.
Sophie Hannah proved it again and again that she's a genius. First haven't they grown and now this, brilliant.
Story is about six couples on a resort but one woman received a note that her life is in danger from the couple nearest to her table but each table is at an equal distance. Who's the killer?
Will Simon and his wife, Charlie be able to solve the case? Or this time Simon will defeat in front of the killer?
It was an awesome book. I couldn't be able to put it down.
Thanks to NetGalley and Hodder Straughten for giving me an advance copy.
Quirky characters, a murder, intrigue, strong plotline and Simon Waterhouse and Charlie Zailer - all makes for a totally compelling read.
The twisty thought processes of Sophie Hannah strike again in this brain bending mystery featuring Simon and Charlie, a holiday and an Impossible murder.
Of course it is entirely possible but it will bug you as to the solution right up until it is revealed...so addictive, beautifully written and full of red herrings.
The suspect group dynamic is truly excellent, this author is the queen of the quirky, oddly compelling character and this time there's a whole lot of them, all caught up in a case that even Simon struggles to solve.
I loved it. I always do. I did actually guess the killer correctly but honestly it wasn't through intelligent unravelling of the clues the author offers but a pure stab in the dark that happened to hit home. But hey. I'll take it!
Very much recommended. Wildly entertaining.
Sophie hannah has one twisted mind. She always sets scenes that any of us could find ourselves in and then twists our sense of morals and standards to try and convince us of another alternative. Imagine if someone did slip you a note at a restaurant warning you of the couple at the next table. I mean, I do like to nosy at other diners but this would take people watching to a whole new level!
The perfect crime, does it exist? Well Sophie Hannah takes you on quite a journey to find out!
Intense, Immersive, Magnificent….
The perfect impossible crime? Is there such a thing? The evidence, most certainly, appears to point to that - but is everything quite as it seems? This is a fabulously entertaining read, from the talented Sophie Hannah, that this reader has been anticipating for some time and it lives up to every single expectation and way more besides. With a perfectly drawn setting, a cast of wholly credible but diverse characters and a well flowing, often remarkably intense narrative, it grabs from the first page and doesn’t let go until the very last despite the clever and unexpected denouement. It’s a wholly immersive read which never once lets its’ grip fade, the reader coming away exhausted in the very best possible way. Magnificent.
