I read this book really quickly, it was well written with an emotive storyline and well dveeloped characters that I loved. I laughed, I cried and I couldn't put it down. I really enjoyed it.

This is the first fictional book I’ve read about Lyme disease. I found Joy’s account particularly interesting because it is set in the UK so shows contrasts between the British and American healthcare system.
It’s hard to write a book about chronic illness without being repetitive - reading about symptoms is boring right?! This writer kept the flow going, we know a diagnosis is coming and can have hope for a happy ending. I didn’t need the alternative perspectives of her Aunt and friend but still, I was pulled in.
As a Lyme victim, I can attest to the veracity of the symptoms and the treatments, they’re brutal. I hope the author is fully recovered and I hope this book helped in that process. Thank you NetGalley for this copy, opinion my own.

I read this in one sitting as it’s a subject close to my heart.
I really felt for joy and could feel her pain as my own. When she makes the statement I’m not afraid of dying I’m afraid of living like this, it’s just like hearing myself say the words. I’ve not been diagnosed with Lymes (although had the test via my gp in the uk) which was negative but often feel my symptoms which came on suddenly in 2015 fit very well with this awful infection.
I was diagnosed with CF and fibromyalgia and basically left to get on with it for. Number of years. This book brings to light the suffering endured by chronic Lyme infections and this is not just physically but mentally and other invisible conditions. I really wish there was more awareness of this in the UK and better testing facilities with accurate diagnosis.
Well done Joy my heart goes out to you girl. Keep going take each day as it comes rest when your body says rest. God bless!
