Whilst I ramble incoherently here, I have to add that I’m really unsure how a written review will do this book justice. Please just trust me when I say – THIS IS A MUST READ.

A good thriller with a good twist till the end and kept me guessing a really good summer read.

The plot was interesting and the characters were okay, and the story was well written but I felt it was missing something I still enjoyed it very much and look forward to the author's next book.

This is a book that kept me on my toes the whole way through. I could not put it down and just had to get to the last chapter to see how it all wrapped up!

Fantastically paced throughout with plenty of curveballs thrown in to try and throw you off scent. Whilst somewhat predictable that didn't take away the enjoyment of the read which I managed to devour in one sitting.

DS Amelie Davis struggles with her own trauma when confronted with the new case of a teenage girl brutally murdered. Amelie has serious trusts issues and only relies on one person.. her husband... but can he really be trusted? Is he truly the man she thought he was or is he the killer she is hunting?

I'm a big fan of A.J Park and will now be waiting in anticipation for the next book to land.

Definitely one I'll be recommending on.

Huge thanks to netgalley and Orion Publishing Group for the ARC.

For me this was just an ok read. There are a lot of this type of thriller on the market- detective investigating a series of rapes and murders of teenage girls. The twist is that she begins to suspect her own husband after several phone calls from a mystery caller warning her that Edward is not all he seems.
Detective Amelie is a particularly damaged character, still suffering after being abused by her father although still managing to perform the role of police detective. Her marriage to Edward seems to be perfect but all is not as it seems and his absence from home on the nights of the murders she is investigating soon become very suspicious.
Although the premise for the book was interesting, leading me to request this review copy, I didn’t find that the plot really grabbed me and for some reason I didn’t particularly warm to Amelie. How was she able to have so much time off work in the middle of a major investigation and why on earth would she make such strange decisions once she begins to suspect Edward?
I finished the book but I did not find it a particularly compelling thriller. However other readers have thoroughly enjoyed it and as always all opinions are subjective.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my arc.

This is a murder mystery book which usually I don't like but the blurb sounded really good so I gave it a go and actually liked this novel it kept me in suspense and I didn't guess what was happening straight away which made me like this so I will look into the author and her past work.

When a teenage girl is found brutally murdered, DS Amelie Davis struggles to keep her own trauma from clouding the investigation. After suffering years of abuse at the hands of her father, Amelie has only ever trusted one man - her husband Edward. But should she? I love a good thriller. Something to get the mind working, heart racing and having you on the edge of your seat. Great writing, great characters and a great storyline.

I enjoyed this fast paced read but I found it difficult to believe. How can Amelie disappear from work so often during the hunt for a serial killer? That aside, I liked the characterisation, the unpredictability and the interesting plot. I did figure out the killer early on but it did not affect my enjoyment of this decent read. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

This is the first time I have read A.J. Park and I will certainly be looking out for future books.

A great thriller, quite dark in places, a real page turner. The only confusing thing was how Amelie, the main character, seemed to be able to go AWOL from the investigation to do her own thing...but luckily this did not distract me too much.

My thanks to NetGalley and Orion Publishing Group for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced copy in return for giving an honest review.

There were promising moments in this book which made me stick with it although I didn't think it was particularly well written, and the characters were very flat, but from about two thirds in it spiralled off down a ridiculous path. It made no sense to me how the main character was behaving. Then the final confrontation turned into panto villain territory, which was bad enough, but then we had the explanation of everything that had gone on - it was just stupid. I really hated this book.

This book had me stumped. Sitting smug and thinking I had it all thought out, the author put me in my place. Finally we have a thriller that will keep you your toes. I truly enjoyed myself and will be recommending it to anyone I see for the next few months.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Who can you really trust? Those closest to you? Perhaps not….Dark, disturbing and nerve jangling domestic suspense with a cast of well crafted, credible characters and a tense, edgy and often distressing storyline. So you think you knew your husband? Read on and expect the unexpected.

Thank you to NetGalley for the loan of this book.
This is the first book I’ve read by A J Park and it certainly won’t be the last. I finished it in 2 days, due to the interesting characters and plot.
A detective is hunting a serial killer, who targets young, beautiful girls. The storyline is a familiar one but the twist is the culprit is someone very close to home, literally!
I loved the twists and turns in this book, it kept me captivated and I didn’t want to put it down. The last chapter was ingenious.
I’d thoroughly recommend this book and will definitely be buying more by this author. Fabulous

Dark, unflinching and disturbing, A J Park’s chilling new thriller, Don’t Speak is sure to leave readers on the edge of their seats barely able to catch their breaths.

The murder of a teenage girl brings with it a plethora of heart-twisting memories which DS Amelie Davis has tried very hard to suppress. Having spent years suffering unspeakable abuse at the hands of her ruthless father, Amelie’s latest case has forced all those old ghosts she has spent years trying to vanquish to come back to life anew. Amelie has always had a hard time trusting people – especially men – but she thought that her husband Edward was one of the good guys. Edward is the only man Amelie has ever trusted, but just how well does she know the man whom she would vouch for without a single moment’s hesitation?

Amelie’s case is keeping her very busy and she must find the dangerous predator responsible for this young girl’s murder before another body is found. Amelie isn’t anywhere close to making an arrest, but could the killer have been underneath her nose all this time? She had always believed that Edward wouldn’t hurt a fly – so why did she receive a phone call in the middle of the night from an unknown number telling her that her husband could be somehow involved in this heinous crime?

Amelie doesn’t know which way to turn. Was the phone call a tasteless prank? A cruel hoax? Somebody trying to throw her off the scent? Or could the caller have been on to something? Something that could have serious consequences not just for Amelie’s career, but also her safety? With her life in jeopardy, Amelie must get to the truth, but is she ready for what she is about to uncover about her husband?

A J Park’s Don’t Speak had me jumping out of my skin on almost every page. A superbly-plotted thriller with twists and turns guaranteed to leave readers with their jaws on the floor, Don’t Speak is a creepy chiller about devastating betrayals, dangerous deception and toxic relationships that will have readers wondering just how well they know the people they trust most in this world.

This book definitely kept me on my toes and I needed to find out how it ends. There's a great flow to the story, dialogues and the characters are introduced in a way I really enjoyed. An absolute page turner. Everytime I thought I had it figured out AJ Parks threw me a curveball and I doubted my suspicion. A massive well done to AJ Parks.

I'm really split with this book. I was a bit disappointed that I had the killer sussed so early into the story but also was really impressed by how well the author developed the investigation.

I was constantly shouting at Amelie wanting her to see the clues but that just lead to how well the book was written.

It seemed to take me a while to read the book but I think thats because in a way I didn't want it to end.

I'm really excited to read more by this author, I want to see what else they have in store for readers.

I went into this expecting another passable, readable domestic noir. I thought the main character seemed a bit clichéd and took that as an indication of how the whole book would play out however, I couldnt have been more wrong! I loved the over all premise and the combination between a proper gritty thriller and a really good domestic noir. They are my favourite genres so to have them overlapping so seamlessly was just a dream. This book just grabbed me and dragged along for the ride, with so many twists and turns I didn't know which was up! And I loved every second of it. There are a couple of bits that may have seemed off or not entirely believable but hey, it is a fiction story and sometimes life is stranger than fiction so who's to judge the direction the chose to take the characters in really! With the dark nights and the manic crazy time of year, this will be such a balm to just shut yourself away with and devour in one sitting. It completely gets under your skin and gets you so involved that you'll find yourself putting off even going for bathroom breaks if it means exiting this story!!
