The synergy of a fantastic concept and an incredible art style makes Cells at Work a fun read.
Akane Shimizu and Tetsuji Kanie manage to humanize our bodies and all actors in them and create a conflict that leaves us rooting for the protagonists.
I enjoyed this read and would recommend it to people who loved the Disney movie 'Osmosis Jones', as the concepts are similar!

Thank you, NetGalley, for the opportunity to read this manga.

This is an installment in the Cells at Work manga series. I’ve tried one other manga in the series and wasn’t the biggest fan, but I enjoyed this one more!

I’m not sure how much I actually followed the science behind the manga, but it was a fun story. This manga focused on different types of white blood cells and their role in the body. There are four main white blood cells who are training a newer recruit, and I enjoyed following him along with his adventures as he started to understand how things worked - and I especially liked this because my first time reading a full installment in the series!

rating: 3.5/5

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read this Manga. I enjoyed the story and the art in this piece; it blends a fun story with educational concepts. We have a growing Manga collection at our school and will likely be adding this to our collection.

Another edition in Cells at Work! Franchise, but this one wasn't as engaging and enjoyable as Cells at Work! Neo Bacteria!. I did not understand the difference between neutrophil and T-cell. Phagocytosis (feeding) scenes really put me off. I don't get the joke, I presume. Storyline was so-so and art style did not excite me.

Many thanks to Kodansha Comics and NetGalley for providing ARC of the manga for the reviewers.

In interesting science manga starring Band Cell as he learns and trains to be a mature white blood cell. The reader picks up a bit of knowledge about human cells as they enjoy the adventures of Band Celll and the Four-Cell Segmented Neutrophils facing off with bacteria, viruses, and other opponents. This title is part of the Cells at Work! series.

I found Cells at Work! White Brigade to be another great addition to the Cells at Work! Universe. Can't Wait for more.

The while Cells at Work series does a great job of being educational and fun. This series told from the perspective of the white blood cells, and their function and relationships with other cells throughout the body. Great for any middle schooler or even adults into STEM who want some levity and laughs with their knowledge!

Cells at Work! White Brigade Vol. 1 is part of a larger series, Cells at Work! This is the second of the series I have read, and it is such a charming way of teaching people more about their bodies. Thanks to Tetsuji Kanie and all of the others who have participated in its creation.

The white blood cells are the unsung heroes of our bodies. Or rather, they were unsung. But now Cells at Work! White Brigade Vol. 1 is here to lay down the praise these hard-working blood cells deserve.

Dive into a volume that covers all sorts of details surrounding neutrophils and their daily tasks! These charming fellows aren't afraid to lay down their life for the sake of the group.

Okay, so I'll admit it: I was utterly charmed by Cells at Work! White Brigade Vol. 1. The neutrophils are, dare I say it, adorable! There is something very endearing about this crew, thanks in part to the addition of a new recruit learning the ropes.

While this crew has a lot of hard work, you can still tell that they have a lot of fun. I think that is the reason why I ended up enjoying this particular volume so much (I enjoyed it so much more than Neo Bacteria! - sorry, not sorry).

I haven't read the rest of the series available yet, so I can't comment on how it compares to the larger whole. What I can say is that Cells at Work! White Brigade Vol. 1 was a ton of (informative) fun.

This is just too cute. I really like how educational this was and also very funny as we learn how our body works from the white blood cells perspective. They really made the story so funny with their antics and weird sense of humor as we navigates their daily life in trying to protect the body from harm. So much happened and also we learn a lot from them. I found the group really heartwarming as they welcomed the new member by teaching him things and its really fun to read.

Thank you for this ARC and I really appreciate it! As a stem major myself and a book lover, this manga really did a great job in tying the two things I love the most. It is very hard to find educational book with the concept of science that makes it enjoyable but I really love this one and it has a special place in my heart. I highly recommend this manga if you love science with a mix of art!

First and foremost, I'd like to express my gratitude to Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for providing me with an e-ARC of this manga.
As a STEM major, I really enjoy reading this manga. This manga was jam-packed with information on blood cells, and the illustrations accompanying it were quite well-done, allowing the reader to enjoy reading it while also learning something new.

I’ve enjoyed the other Cells at Work manga series, with Code Black Bette most interesting and intense with its story. I love how the series can balance out educational content while also being fun with its plot.

The problem with the series is that it’s incredibly samey. It gets very repetitive and very stale quickly, and while the others were able to hold my attention with their plot, this one was a bit lifeless. It’s forgettable compared to its predecessor, and I doubt it will be one that will hold people’s attention.

Cells at Work! White Brigade Volume One. Written and illustrated by Tetsuji Kanie and the Original Concept by Akane Shimizu, have you always wondered about who keeps your body safe? Why it’s those fine, upstanding white blood cells from the White Brigade! In this story, we follow these fellows on their journey to eliminate everything that makes you sick!

We follow a Band Cell that joins the “White Brigade” and through his eyes, we get to see what happens on a usual day for the White Blood Cell. What we get is intense bacteria-fighting, eating, etc. But it’s not all action, there are humorous moments such as the game of tag (it’s crazy, but it’s good for training! Ask 1146!)

As mentioned previously, 1146 and several other bacteria, viruses, and cells also make a guest appearance in this series as Ban learns the ropes of how a white blood cell protects the body. It has a great blend of humor and biology and gives mini-lessons as the chapter goes on. Speaking of the chapters, they share a similarity to the Original Material where it isn’t written to be chaptered storytelling, where most of the stories are stand-alone. Overall, this is one story I would recommend for Cells at Work! Fans, a good bonding story, good humor, and gives fans something to look forward to in each chapter.

I thought this was a good idea because the manga tries to be entertaining as well as educational but it wasn’t always easy to follow.

It tells the story of our white blood cells and how they defend our bodies. The story follows a squad of
white blood cells as they train a young band cell. There are lots of battles with bacteria and viruses which are depicted as monsters and we get to see how these cells interact with each other. It is interesting because the cells are depicted as people but it is a bit confusing because they all look like the same person. The manga artwork is good and the story is interesting but not a series I would follow.

This has been my favorite expansion of the Cells at Work! universe thus far. This hilarious yet heartwarming manga follows the white brigade, white blood cells who help protect the body, as they train a new recruit and teach him to fight invading bacteria and infections. The four white blood cells are the same as the original series, so fans are sure to love the exploration into their personalities and bonds with each other, as well as cameos from characters like dendrite cell and the killer t cells. I would recommend this to any lover of the original Cells at Work! and the white blood cells.

I received an eARC through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review! Thank you to Kondasha Comics and Netgalley!

I watched the Cells at Work! anime about two years ago and I absolutely loved it so I was so excited to have the opportunity to read the White Brigade Volume 1 manga! This manga had my absolute favorite things from the anime: information, humor, and getting to know our fiesty characters even more! I absolutely loved the white cell banter in this manga and I found myself giggling as I read. Their friendship is so strong and I love that we get some insight into their bond! I can't wait to read the next volume when it comes out :) Would highly recommend it if you loved the Cells at work! anime and/or manga

Art style: 5/5
Storyline: 5/5
Knowledge: 5/5
Comedy: 5/5

Special thanks to NetGalley and Kodansha for providing the e-ARC in exchange of an honest review.

Let me sum up what you will get when you read this manga:
- knowledge on cells
- gorgeous art style
- a good laugh
- in love with the superior white cells
- really fun time
These are exactly what I got from the story. I really love it, especially because I have watch the anime and already meet with a few white cells there hahahaha. Honestly, I really love how the author puts some comedy elements through the action of the cells. They are super funny with different characteristics; one being too dramatic etc. It is a really great way in delivering the knowledge through illustration and humor, which I am pretty sure will be remembered by a lot of people. The story is so smooth, with each chapters having its own storyline and before I know it, I have reached the end of this volume. I demand for more!!

P/s: White cell 2048 is a tsundere hahaha acting cool but is actually cute! 1146 is also really adorable in the bonus story!
