I attempted to get into this story, and The Paris Apartment did not grip me the way Lucy Foley’s previous titles did. I found the characters hard to get to know, and found myself indifferent to the mystery, so DNF’d.

I have to confess that this is not one of Foley's strongest pieces of work. I found all characters unlikable, the story really far fetched and the whole thing very disconnected. I managed to read the entire thing but I felt like it took an effort to do so. Lucy Foley is usually a great writer who gives you novels that keep you up all night as you just can't stop reading them... this was not one of those novels I am afraid.

Lucy Foley consistently writes great books which leave you wantihng more - this is no exception! highly recommended.

A gripping murder mystery thriller, The Paris Apartment is classic Lucy Foley. The pacing was really well done and it had me intrigued from the very beginning. I loved the setting and had a really good time with this book. I would recommend.

The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley.
I’m not too sure how I feel about this book. Even now when writing this review I feel conflicted. I love a good thriller, I want something that keeps me on the edge of my seat, keeping me in suspense and leaving me wondering who done it with each page that goes by.
Unfortunately I didn’t get that with The Paris Apartment; yet it had so much potential! I found that for the majority of the book that very little happened, it all amounted to the reveal a few pages at the end, a fast wrap up that left me feeling like, oh, is that it? I had my suspicions early on in respect of the suspects which were proved correct. I guess upon reflection this didn’t help. I like to be surprised when it comes to this genre of book.
I did however love the setting in the old Paris apartment, I can just picture the architecture. I also liked how we got the perspective of each person living there. I thought this was a great idea but that it could have been developed more.
Nevertheless, I carried on reading. It helped pass the time away of an evening.
I would like to thank Harper Fiction and Tandem Collective for the paperback copy in return for an honest review.

I have mixed feelings about this book. Whilst I really did think it was suspenseful and full of mystery, there was something lacking for me from this book. It potentially could have been overhyped by the time that I came round to reading the book. The storyline was original and I thought it was definitely a page turner, but it wasn’t a book that I was rushing to read. I would recommend as it is a highly popular book and may have been my mood at the time. Apologies I could not leave a more positive review

Jess is in need of escape and a fresh start so she leaves Brighton and travels to Paris to stay with her estranged, half brother, Ben. When she arrives, Ben it not there, his absence looks suspicious. Jess asks the tenants of the apartment block if they know Ben and do they know where he might be. She is sure that they all know something but they are not telling.
It's a bit of a convoluted story but I enjoyed the twists and turns.

The Paris Apartment is a dark and gripping mystery that pulls you into the shadowy world behind the glamorous façade of Paris. When Jess arrives at her brother Ben's upscale apartment, she quickly realizes something is amiss—Ben has mysteriously disappeared. As she interacts with the building's residents, each with their own secrets, Jess uncovers a tangled web of lies that gradually reveals the truth about what happened to her brother.
The short, sharp chapters add to the tension, making it impossible to put the book down as you eagerly turn the pages. The atmosphere is thick with unease, and the gradual unveiling of each character’s backstory keeps you guessing until the end.
While the setting of the Parisian apartment feels more closed-off than the vibrant city outside, this claustrophobic feel enhances the story's intensity. The book excels in creating a strong sense of place, capturing both the glamour and the grit of Paris.
Overall, The Paris Apartment is an enjoyable and suspenseful read with a strong sense of atmosphere, layered characters, and an unexpected conclusion. It may be a bit predictable at times, but the journey is well worth it.

Thank you to Harper Collins and NetGalley for the complimentary copy of Lucy Foley's The Paris Apartment.
The book did start off well, but about a tenth in, I found it a bit muddled. It didn't seem to make sense, the characters were unlikeable and I couldn't relate to them at all. I love Paris and had hoped for a lot more, but it was somewhat disappointing.
I have heard that other books by Lucy Foley are great, and will be willing to read another book before I completely write off the author.

I received this after the book had been published in stores making an advance review null
I enjoyed other Foley titles but the first few chapters were a struggle and so I did not continue.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author.
I’d heard lots of mixed reviews so was interested to see what my thoughts would be.
As a thriller, it was just ok to me. The twists weren't quite twisty enough for me, I’d guessed where a number of the plot lines were going which always leaves me a bit disappointed when reading a thriller.
There also seemed to be quite a lot of characters which I found quite confusing for, I would say, the first half of the book!
Will I read books from this author again? Possibly, but they won’t be at the top of my TBR I don’t think.
3.5 stars

The inhabitants of a large house, all with secrets and tied together in a way no-one can quite work out.
But when one of them goes missing and his sister is on his trail lots of secrets spill out.
Told in a slightly haphazard manner and a little tedious at times, this is still a decent read

This was a slow burner from memory - I do however remember the novel and setting a year later so has to have had an impact.
I like Lucy Foley although good reads not amazing.

I have previously enjoyed Lucy Foley’s other work, but The Paris Apartment was a step up in mystery, thrill and tension.
From the beginning I was hooked, the twists and turns were impossible to predict and the action left me breathless with fear in places. A perfect thriller with a fantastically twisty ending.

This was a trip…! Slow pace for a while, gradually feeding you little snippets here and there. Be prepared to only have the lightbulb moment about 75% of the way in, but it’s a real ohhhhhhh…! moment. Intricately woven storyline, which offsets the fact that I didn’t really find any of the characters very likeable (which I think is expected here!). Would recommend though.
I received a free ARC copy of this via NetGalley and the publishers in return for an unbiased review. Apologies for the long delay in providing this!

A fast-moving plot, with key parts of the plot revealed in a really clever way. You know what you're getting with a Lucy Foley book, and it definitely scratched a thriller itch.

Only got 25% into this book & had to give up, confusing flitting from one character to the next.
Not for me

The story telling was very good, I enjoyed the build up but unfortunately the twist was a little too late and somewhat underwhelming by the time you get round to it (in the last 10% of the book). I really enjoy this authors writing but unfortunately I wouldn't rate this more than 3 stars.

I absolutely loved The Hunting Party, which was the first of Lucy Foley's novels I read. I was initially attracted to it due its setting in the Scottish Highlands, near where I live. I also enjoyed her next novel, The Guest List.
Unfortunately, The Paris Apartment was not at good as the others for me and I wonder if Lucy Foley has had such success with her previous novels that she has sat back a bit with this one.
I still think most people would enjoy this, as I did, however it just wasn't as good as her previous two.

I have heard so much about this book, I am sorry I didn't manage to read it at the time, but now that I finally did, I am glad I have waited.
I read it whilst listening to the audio and I think if I didn't have the audio, I would have DNFed it.
Unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations. It sounded really promising and yes, there was that twist at the end, but it didn't make me go "wooooo".
I felt like it was prolonged too much and this didn't help.
I did like the multiple POVs as it was very good to see everyone's reaction at the end, so you could understand better who was involved. But that's about it, I'm afraid.
Said so, I will give another go to the author, as the other books might be better.
