This was an easy five stars. Lucy Foley just gets better and better. So twisty and turny and although a little slow once the initial drama had taken place in the opening pages the characters are so messed up you want to stay to see how much more mess there can be. The mid point twist was a shocker and I was already hooked by then. Can’t wait to read more by the author.

This has been on my TBR for quite a while and I’m so happy I finally picked it up. It was slow at the beginning but quickly picked up. I liked the twists and turns of this one. Lucy Foley kept me guessing. I liked the eerie apartment setting and felt like I was a fly on the wall. Our lead character Jess was quite easy to like and I also liked Nick. Pretty good ending, parts I managed to work out but some I didn’t. All in all a great read.

Thank you to HarperCollins UK for this advance copy.

Jess flees a difficult situation at home to stay with her journalist brother Ben in his flat in Paris but when she arrives Ben is missing. Faced with a wall of silence from the majority of the residents Jess sets out to find put what happened to her brother. What has Ben got himself into? Separated as children when Ben was adopted by a wealthy family and Jess was left in care, Jess must ask herself how much she really knows about her brother.

The Paris Apartment is another pacy thriller from Lucy Foley. It definitely keeps you guessing and has a well-crafted plot.

I normally really enjoy this authors books but found this one a little bizarre! It started off ok but then just got so unbelievable that I just couldn’t relate to it. I was going to give up but stuck with it but the ending just had me rolling my eyes as it was such a ridiculous ending

Lucy Foley's Paris is different to my romantic experience as a tourist. Foley showcases the seedy side to Paris
This is well-written fast-paced thriller featuring some fabulous characters.

Ben is living in a Paris apartment and gets a call from his half sister Jess who has just lost her Job out in London and needs a place to stay. Jess arrives in Paris to find Ben missing. Jess investigates what Ben (a reporter) was working on and stumbles on a story that contains the key to finding Ben

A tense, edge of your seat thriller. Not quite the locked door mystery I was expecting, it was atmospheric and gripping throughout, with decent characters and plenty of surprises! Whilst I found this a little cliched at times, overall, it was highly enjoyable.

Thank you Harpercollins and NetGalley for the ARC of this book.

I have read Lucy's other books - The Hunting Party and the Guest List - so was expecting good things and this didn't disappoint.

It is full of twists and turns and in places quite surprising. The writing was so good I felt a few times like I was in Paris.

A great read, and I would recommend.

Umm this was ok but a little lacklustre and slow. A lot of it was a bit obvious but it had a good twist at the end and that’s why I’m giving it 4 stars. #TheParisApartment #NetGalley

This is the 2nd book I have read by Lucy Foley and it was just as good as the Guest List. A gripping read full of lots of suspense.

After seeing all the hype surrounding The Guest List (which I'm still yet to read), I was excited to get my hands on The Paris Apartment - the locked room mystery also strongly appealed to me.

When Jess arrives in Paris to stay with her brother, she's frustrated to find him not at home. Managing to gain access to his apartment block (and his room after some handy lock-picking), she quickly realises that something isn't quite right. Ben's wallet and keys are still there, he hasn't left a note and he's not answering his phone. At a loss on where to look for him, Jess starts by asking the neighbours when they last saw him. But as her investigation deepens, she soon realises that Ben's neighbours are not telling the whole truth.

I had some conflicting views on this one. I enjoyed the fast pace and all of the twists caught me off-guard (without me having to suspend too much disbelief) which is always a good sign. The main theme that the plot is based around was interesting and shocking, giving the readers an insight into the Paris underbelly that I have no doubt still exists today.

My main issue was that the majority of characters were completely unlikeable and I didn't care what happened to them. Jess, in particular, was super annoying and made some really poor decisions (who travels to a foreign country with hardly any phone data and doesn't download offline maps?? The same girl who just happens to be able to pick any lock? Questionable). I found Mimi's storyline hard to believe which is probably due to the fact there were so many narrators that we didn't get to dive deeper into Mimi's past. There was a romantic element that felt really forced/unnecessary and left me rolling my eyes - I also felt like it added nothing to the story. There was also some obvious withholding of information (something that is a pet peeve of mine, especially when the narrators are in first person - it feels too constructed).

That's not to say I won't read the author's other books - I take thrillers with a pinch of salt as I always have super high expectations. Still a solid 3 - 3.5 stars.

Thanks to Netgalley and Publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Plot:
As Jess drops in at her brother Ben's place at the last minute, she finds Ben to be missing. Staying at the posh residency among high class unknown people she tries to find her missing brother. Trusting no one, she goes to extreme lengths in investigating why and where Ben suddenly disappeared to and what's the story behind all these uptight people.
Thoughts;
As always Lucy Foley did well with the plot, the environment and the characters. I loved the multiple pov that built up the storyline slowly connecting the dots. But, the dialogues and storyline dragged and deviated a little too much. The pacing did not help in reading this continuously. I stopped reading twice before as I couldn't get involved in the story and finally finished it now. The ending was good giving apt closure for all the characters but the writing was not as good as 'The Guest List'. The mystery was good but there was hardly any thriller element. Overall this was a good read that could've been much much better.

Absolutely loved the atmosphere of this book and that it was set in an affluent Paris neighbourhood in a great apartment building that was really sought after.
The secrets, the connections, the building itself - it was brilliant.
Loved the multiple POVs too, all the characters were just the right amount of shady to make it interesting.
Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for my copy!

This was a book I tried reading multiple times but I always ended up dnfing no matter what my mood. The characters or the premise just couldn’t capture my interest. I am going with a rating of 1/5 stars which is mostly indicative of the dnf status rather than my opinion of the book.

With plenty of twists to keep you guessing, Lucy Foley's The Paris Apartment is full of pace and mysteries. You're sure to read it with your heart in your mouth, while wishing the ballsy main character would do the sensible thing and run!

I loved the creepy claustrophobic apartment setting for this story. It immediately intrigued me how all of the very different residents knew each other and what it was they had in common.

I enjoyed reading the book from several points of view. I could really imagine the apartment building as I read about each resident.
Jess was a great central character and I was willing her to find out the truth about the mystery of the disappearance of her brother Ben.

The secrets about each of the residents slowly unfold as the reader finds out the truth.
There were several twists I didn’t predict in the story although I did guess some of the ending. There was still a surprise!

Overall this was a tense psychological thriller that I thoroughly enjoyed. I will definitely be going back to read Lucy Foley's previous two books.

I tried to read this book about three times and each time I just couldn’t continue. Nothing wrong with it, just didn’t grip me and with so many others to read, chose a different book instead.

Jess is fleeing a terrible boss in a bad job and heads to Paris to stay with her brother, Ben. But despite a voice message saying he’s waiting for her, he’s not there when she arrives. And after days of not turning up, Jess turns to the other occupants in her brothers building for answers. But they’re shady, becoming defensive when she mentions his name, and she knows they’re hiding something. But she must watch herself as it becomes more and more dangerous for her to dig for answers…

What I liked:
✅ Multiple points of views
✅ Likeable main character Jess
✅ The mystery element and the general plot, I was intrigued and kept guessing and think it was well written and executed

What wasn’t so great:
⭕️ Sometimes I thought the dialogue and writing style was a bit off, nothing massive but it did bring me out of the story slightly
⭕️ I think there was something not quite tied up which I would have liked to know

Overall though, I enjoyed this a lot and I recommend the narration of it if you’re into audiobooks (particularly Jess’a narrator, she made her really likeable and relatable and easy to listen to)

Another disquieting read from Lucy Foley. Pacey and well-written, we follow Jess as she comes to stay in Paris with her brother, Ben. But Ben has mysteriously disappeared and so Jess is left alone in a country where she doesn’t speak the language and doesn’t know who to trust.
