What a varied group of people that live at this one apartment building in Paris. They at first glance have nothing in common with each other than an address, and from their opening chapter a general feeling that Benjamin Daniels was the catalyst for everything.

It seems Ben wasn't overly well thought of by the rest of his neighbours, and when his half sister Jess turns up unexpectedly and finds him missing, she can't help but start asking questions.

Which instantly starts to make us as readers feel she is going to uncover something - and wow what a lot of secrets, and connections and deceit there is to be unravelled.

It kept me guessing throughout, I was never completely sure what to believe, and it had just the right level of creepiness to hook me.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent with these characters, even if there were very few characters in this that I would ever want in my own life!

Thank you to Harper Collins and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Ok, I realise this isn't going to win the Booker anytime soon, but it is a huge amount of fun. I love Lucy Foley. She produces genuinely paces, clever books that continue to keep me guessing.

I am usually a big Lucy Foley fan and loved her books Hunting Party and Guest List but this book failed to hook me in and I did not feel particularly invested in the narrative or characters. It failed to sustain my interest and I expected a lot more from this.

A great and absorbing read. You actually feel like you are in Paris. A thrilling tale, would highly recommend.

I enjoyed this book, particularly a different setting to the usual. I think the author did a great job of setting the scene and making the reader feel as though they were in Paris. A very good, absorbing mystery. I suspected all the characters at one point or another but didn’t guess how it would turn out. Would recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the advance copy.

I listened to The Paris Apartment on audio this time and I was so delighted I did instead of reading the paper copy. It is a story set in beautiful Paris and I guess listening to the different narrators with their French accents gave me an amazing feel for the story and immediately immersed me into the centre of it.
It was a compelling read, dark in places and all the while reading it you can feel a creepiness in your bones that seems to seep from the walls of the apartment block where the story is based.
If I am honest with you all, I don’t think I liked any of author Lucy Foley’s characters. They all had something to hide which did create immense drama.
Jess the young woman who arrived to the apartment block to find her brother Ben had disappeared is the only character I particularly warmed to. She is strong and resourceful and I think I would like to have her in my corner fighting for me if needed.
The plot and story were exceptionally well written and I have come to expect this from this author. She writes with experience, with confidence and has the ability to reel you in quite quickly. She almost drip feeds you the story which of course adds to the suspense and drama.
I think you will enjoy this one.

Twists aplenty. Lucy Foley knows how to weave a thrilling tale. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

I loved the somewhat cosy, not quite locked room, but with very few characters in one building, it has that feel. The reader gets to know the characters really well, what makes them tick and their histories.
Although the main characters are not particular likable, the plot keeps you wanting to keep reading to see how horrible these people are and what they'll do next.

This is the first Lucy Foley book I have read and it won’t be the last. I liked the way the book raced along and the fact the chapters weren’t to long and unnecessarily wordy. The characters were brilliantly written and it was a gripping story, it was great that it wasn’t a story that I guessed the ending before I got there. Great read, would really recommend.

This was good, but not up to the same level her other books are.

Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.

I'm sorry, but this book was difficult to read as it was so disjointed, not written particularly clearly and the whole whodunnit paragraphs really began to grate. I hope that this ARC was a bit more polished before publication as it read almost as if it was pre-edit.

As with any Lucy Foley book, this is a solid thriller with a good twist (unsurprisingly).
It was another well paced, multiple PoV that Lucy Foley is oh so good at. The short chapters added to the claustrophobic and tense feeling of the story.
The mix of well-written, dysfunctional characters made the story more compelling.

A thoroughly enjoyable thriller, as expected.

For me, just the title of this book is filled with mystery and intrigue of what lies behind the gates. Whilst I did find tit to be a slightly slow read to begin with, it did gather pace and overall, made for a gripping read. The different POV chapters created an air of mystery as each character was revealed, together with their secrets. I'd recommend this title.

Many thanks to Harper Collins UK and NetGalley for the review copy.

Jess is running away from her problems in England, and decides to stay with her brother Ben in Paris. She turns up at the address given but has to find another way into the flat as he isn't answering his phone. When she gets into the flat, Ben is nowhere to be found but his keys, wallet and phone are all still there so Jess is convinced something is wrong.

She stays in the flat determined to find out what has happened to her brother. She slowly meets the other residents who all seem evasive and suspicious and the creepy concierge who always seems to be lurking in the shadows.

The more time she spends at the flat, the more she is convinced one of the residents is responsible for harming her brother - or worse.

The story is quite slow burning and a little disappointing - it could have been much more.

I was looking forward to reading this but it felt like a slow burner to start with. I found the book full of typos though, it could do with being put through a spell checker before going to print next.

I am a big fan of Lucy Foley’s previous novels and think that she has a real talent of navigating multiple perspectives and storylines before the big reveal, where the full truth is handed to the reader. It is a style and trope that I really enjoy but with ‘The Paris Apartment’ I found the flow a little off almost like the tension was pulled tight all the way through the story.
I loved the beginning which follows Jess, arriving in Paris on a dark night, clearly running away from her troubles in England. She is meant to be staying with her half brother but Ben is nowhere to be found. In turn we meet all of his secretive and eclectic neighbors as she tries to find answers. Foley is great at crafting her range of characters in all of her novels and I felt like the vivid setting added a lot to this darker, domestic thriller.
The pacing was well done and the short chapters added to the claustrophobic emotions Jess is experiencing as she attempts to find out what happened to Ben. Personally I would have preferred some slower, less tightly wound sections in between just for balance and flow. Another great read by Foley and as always I cannot wait for the next!

Another stunning book from Lucy Foley, having loved The Hunting Party and The Guest List I knew I was in for a treat.

I loved how the story is told using different characters in the apartment and the slow reveal of the secrets it held!

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest, independent review.

Ready for a fresh start, Jess travels to Paris to see her half-brother, Ben. But when she shows up at his apartment building, he's not there.

The longer Ben is missing, Jess starts to unravel more questions and more secrets. It turns out that everyone in the building can be a suspect, and all are keeping secrets.

This was a great mystery, with tension, anticipation and questions arising from the start. The plot was twisty and absorbing, and the atmospheric setting, the Parisian apartment building, holds as many secrets as its residents.

I enjoyed the mix of characters; they are a dysfunctional bunch! Each character is well described, and the mystery around each one builds throughout the book, right until the very end when it is slowly unravelled.

It is a multiple POV novel, so we really get inside each character's head. It is obvious from the get-go they are all holding secrets surrounding Ben. It is a bit of a slow burner at times, but the atmospheric setting and mystery keeps you drawn in.

An entertaining, mysterious novel with lots of great twists; definitely recommend it!

I enjoyed 'The Paris Apartment' and was glad to have guessed the final twist correctly as that was the ending I was hoping for! There were plenty of surprises I hadn't seen coming though, and it made for a gripping read. An intriguing assortment of characters and a great setting.

I was so excited to read this book and it did not disappoint!
