I thought this book was utterly depressing and miserable. I’m not even sure why I finished it. The storyline was just miserable and the main characters were ridiculous in how they had lied and continued to lie to each other.

The synopsis and cover of this book pulled me in and I thought I might be embarking on a a One Day in December type romance.

Unfortunately, I didn’t find this book very romantic. I try to avoid books like this, mainly due to my own experience of losing loved ones. I just find books dealing with impending death too upsetting to read.

The two main characters Fran and Will were well written. Will seemed a decent person, whereas Fran was awful. She came across quite selfish and the storyline about her ‘secrets’ made me quite mad. How can you be angry with someone for 25 years when you are holding enormous secrets that affect them?

Despite me not enjoying this book, I do believe it takes real skill and talent to create a piece of work which invokes a strong character reaction (love or loathe) from readers. It indicates excellent writing by the author.

Fran and Wills story is filled with so many raw emotions. It is a true love story that does not follow an easy path. In the end love prevails and gives you hope for true love and the power of soul mates. This books makes you smile, laugh and cry.

Most of this book made no sense to me. Fran was a doormat type who held in two huge life changing secrets from the man she supposedly loved then held a grudge against him for years. The whole thing was very strange. Please be advised this isn’t a romance, it’s just a depressing drama.
