So full of drama
Zee is in hiding following an incident in her past but things have caught up with her and now she is in danger and on the run with her former Navy SEAL neighbour John
Because of the nature of the story I struggled to connect with John and Zee but at the same time I got to see their fundamental personalities, their skills and ingenuity which I loved. I also got to to witness what they would do for each other, even whilst denying their feelings and I could see the strength of their bond which made them characters who I totally got behind
I really enjoyed this book, it’s action packed and full of drama but in a way that also made me struggle with it a bit and I know that sounds really weird but I didn’t feel like I could fully get to know the characters before something else happened which did make it harder for me to bond with them
I am however really hoping that there is another book after this in the series because I have to know what happens next in the underlying story! There is such a cliffhanger that I’m now incredibly impatient which I think shows how much I enjoyed this book overall
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a story that is so packed full of drama and danger that you don’t have time to catch your breath before something else happens

I would like to thank Netgalley, Mills and Boon and Juno Rushdan for the E arc of this book, publication date 11th November 2021.
This was a major page turner for me, I couldn’t put it down. The plot was well paced, the situation was very believable and I wanted to know what happened next. This is the 2nd book in a series but can be read as a standalone.
Zen is hiding out in the Alaskan wilderness. She mostly keeps to herself and will only interact with John, her nearest neighbour. John was a SEAL and one night he helps save Zen from commandos who come to kill her, why? As Zen and John move across Alaska, into other parts of the USA, with killers on their heels, they reveal more about themselves and their attraction grows. Will they outwit the commandos, workout why they were sent and ultimately reach safety?
Would highly recommend this book and I look forward to the next in the series.

Beware the title of this book – it could be considered deceptive/deceiving. Even though the story:
1. Is set in Alaska;
2. It is coming up on Xmas time-wise in the story;
3. And there is an escape included.
And it is on point 3 that the title could be most considered deceptive. Escape here does certainly not mean a holiday -nor an escape from ‘normal’ life in a different location. It does indeed mean that the main characters in the story have to escape Alaska.
The bulk of the storyline involves a CIA Strike Team being ordered (black ops indeed) to kill another CIA strike team.
Z is a member of this 2nd team – a CIA operative on the run. Her Alaskan neighbour, J, gets involved and provides the romance.
So, we have adventure with a seriously skilled heroine – computers Plus fighting Plus guns and shooting. A conspiracy that means that a sequel could well be being plotted and that should be worth reading as the story has ‘legs’.

Alaskan Christmas Escape by Juno Rushdan.
Mills & Boon Heroes
Fugitive Heroes: Topaz Unit, Book 2.
An elite CIA kill squad has located hacker Zenobia Hanley’s Alaskan wilderness hideout. With commandos hot on Zee’s heels, she’s saved from capture by her neighbour John Lowry. Zee has kept her yearning for the SEAL, in check to shield him. But, despite her secrets, John’s determined to protect Zee regardless of the risks. Because there’s more at stake this Christmas than just their lives.
I enjoyed this book. Great story and characters. Zee and John were my favourite. 5*.

A good mix of romance and emotion with adrenaline filled action. The violence isn’t over the top in the sense of it flows with the plot and doesn’t seem overdone, it is also essential to the story and worked in well. For once our female lead, Zee, isn’t worried about breaking a nail and is out there being the strong - physically and emotionally - hero as well as partner for John.
The ending is quite lovely and we are set up for the next book in the series and invested in the characters created.

A highly enjoyable story of on the run Zee and her retired Navy Seal neighbour, John, who steps in to help out when Zee's vengeful ex and his CIA team track her down. The characters were well developed and I liked how Zee and John's relationship changed as the plot went on as you really did root for them to find a way to be happy. The ever present threat of Ryker and his team added lots of drama and tension and kept the plot moving and it held my attention. The story was engaging and well written with an exciting plot and characters you could become invested in from the off. The Alaskan wilderness setting of the opening chapters added so much drama to the story as any escape by Zee was always going to be full of obstacles due to the environment, and you are soon drawn in to the action. There was an interesting twist involving Zee and Ryker's past which added to the enjoyment of the story and I was compelled to keep reading as Zee and John looked to find a way to escape trouble and find their happy ending. This is the first book I have read by the author, and I will definitely be buying the next book in the series and perhaps some of their previous works.

This was a quick enjoyable read, enjoyed it more than the first book in the series. Lots of action and suspense, my only gripe is that it ended very suddenly. Looking forward to the next one
