In Cloud Town, two girls are struggling to get by while maintaining their friendship. Olive faces bullies for the crime of being tiny and shy, while Penelope battles her desire to skate with making ends meet at home. As long as they are together, they can survive.

Then Olive gets recruited to help fight Hurricanes, giant monsters that attack towns, because she can go Neon Genesis Evangelion using local mechas. Though she needs to do good, Olive chafes at this gap in their friendship as she has to take menial work to avoid being sent to foster care. What can survive in Cloud Town when death and economic disparity lie within every corner?

Due to the art, the narrative is a little hard to follow, but the style is unique and I love the character designs. We also get a love letter to mecha lore, and why friendship centers the good ones.

I was a little lost on the plot but I love these unique illustrations which remind me of Ricky and Morty. Would recommend to kids in 8th grade and up.

Story about best friends and giant robots. I really enjoyed the art, it was cute. Perfect for a middle grade comic. The story was a little wordy, but I still enjoyed it.

The download was extremely pixelated to the point of being unreadable on my Kindle Fire. I really wanted to read this! I don’t want the author to get a bad review because I can’t read it. NetGalley should preview the file to make sure it is legible. I am not permitted to give feedback without a star rating. If there was a place to click N/A or not applicable I would have clicked that.

Unfortunately, I’m not able to review this book because, as NetGalley has alerted me: “Downloading and/or reviewing is currently not possible for this title. This could mean the publisher has not yet provided the final content, or the content has been removed.”

Should the book later become available, I’d be happy to check it out.

I love the fantasy nature of this book. The Kindle download came through (mostly). A very attractive book.

I was a fan of McCloskey's Free Money series so I'm sure I'll like this. However, the review copy is blurry and unreadable. Five stars for the book, zero stars for the format. PDF please!
