I loooooved this book! I love any books set in the regency era and this one had a great take on it. Kitty Talbot is a really great main character and the story is fun, romantic and had me laughing out loud at times. IT was one of the most enjoyable romance/historical novels I've read in a long time, can't recommend enough

This was a really fun Regency Romance novel. Kitty is a wonderful character full of confidence and a sense of duty to keeping her sisters safe and cared for. When their parents die leaving debts Kitty realises she must make an advantageous marriage to secure all their futures. She manages to ingratiate herself into society but is quickly discovered by Lord Radcliffe to be a fortune hunter, to protect his brother from her schemes he agrees to help her gain entry to high society. I really enjoyed the chemisty between the two characters and while I knew what was going to happen I really enjoyed the adventures it took to get there.
Fans of Bridgerton and Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice would really enjoy this charming tale of love, society and class boundaries.

Charming. Witty. A great lead character. A wee bit predictable as it progresses but it's entirely welcome. I imagine it would make an excellent lighthearted TV drama. Thoroughly enjoyable.

I loved his book set in the Regency period in London. Its plucky heroine Kitty is on the hunt for a husband who will settle a large debt on her behalf to ward off the bailiffs and allow Kitty and her sisters to remain in their family home. Might wealthy heir Archie Radcliffe be that man? How will Kitty, who hails from a very different background, suddenly acquire the social etiquette of London’s elite? And what happens when Archie’s older brother James sees through Kitty’s scheming?
Two aspects made this novel such an enjoyable read for me. Firstly, the descriptions of Regency London that were so vivid, and secondly, the humorous dialogues between Kitty and James. The result is a highly readable, entertaining but also thought-provoking novel – what will an individual pushed to the edge do to keep those they treasure safe?
I would like to thank NetGalley and the publishers for the free e-book ARC I received that allowed me to produce this honest, unbiased review.

This is a very easy-going, delightful read and I am so pleased that I was given the opportunity to review it. I had definite Bridgerton vibes from the beginning, it is set in 1818 and could be seen as a Regency romance but it has a fresher and more modern feel to it.
Sophie Irwin gives us Kitty Talbot as the protagonist, her parents have died, leaving her and her sisters in real financial trouble. If Kitty cannot secure a wealthy husband in 12 weeks then they will all be ruined. Kitty and her sister Cecily travel to London with this sole purpose in mind. They very quickly meet Archie de Lacey and Kitty is sure she can secure a good match with him and save her family. However she had not bargained for his older brother Lord Radcliffe to show up and start asking questions.
A Lady’s Guide to Fortune Hunting is a book you can easily get caught up in, I loved the descriptions of Regency London, especially the balls and the fashion. Kitty is likable, her main attribute is how she wants to make sure her family is okay. You feel sorry for her at some points as it is clearly such a burden.
I would highly recommend this book as one to lose yourself in for a few hours.

Kitty Talbot has a problem. Her father has died leaving her and her sisters with a mountain of debt. She has managed by selling off various things, but now she has run out of things and the debt collectors will take the house in a couple of months.
She turns to a family friend to introduce her to London Society so that she can find a rich man to marry who has enough money to pay off the debts.
The first person in her sights is Archie De Lacey, whose sister went to school with Cecily, Kitty's younger sister who has accompanied her to London.
The match is thwarted by his older brother, Lord Radcliffe. Kitty promises to let Archie down gently if Lord Radcliffe will do her a favour in return. This begins a strange friendship between the two and Lord Radcliffe is bemused at her attempts to snag a rich husband.
This book reminded me of the likes of Bridgerton and the plots of a Jane Austen novel. Nevertherless it was enjoyable and an easy read.

I enjoyed this historical romance which is set in the Regency period. I found it reminiscent of Bridgerton (but not as steamy). I loved the descriptions of the fashion and the balls that were attended throughout the novel.
Kitty is a fantastic character. She is feisty and full of wit and determination to find a match and save her family. I also enjoyed the banter she has with Radcliffe.
While the story has a predictable outcome, I still found it delightful to read. I'm hoping there will be a sequel so we can spend some more time with these characters.

I admit Regency Romance isn’t my usual read, well not since my early twenties, but thanks to the likes of Janna McGregor and Bridgerton I’m glad to say I’ve been drawn back in. This really is an enjoyable romp with a modern twist, felt kind of a modern Austen to me. Kitty our heroine is very candid and calculating in her desire to catch a rich husband, which she needs to save herself and the fates of her sisters too. this fantastic read is chock full of relatable characters and has such a fast-paced storyline it’ll leave your head spinning and begging for more, I definitely look forward to so much more.

If you like Bridgerton you'll love this! It's perfect holiday reading, good fun and uplifting. Set in the Regency period, feisty Kitty knows she has to find a rich husband to secure hers and her family's future and has only 12 weeks to do so before the bailiffs arrive. Kitty is a witty heroine and although you may guess the ending it doesn't stop you desperately wanting to read on!

Not my usual genre, but I thoroughly enjoyed this witty , spirited read. The title says it all!
Kitty Talbot, eldest sister, is left with debts after her parents death. Jilted by her fiancé, she has no option but to travel to London to secure a husband of means.
I loved the wit and warmed towards Kitty as although seemingly mercenary and heartless, she always put family first..

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
What a marvellous Regency Romance this was, Don't get me wrong it was predictable in ways but this didn't stop me from enjoying the humour. The characters are endearing and just suitable for this. I would recommend it to Bridgerton fans.

Definitely the debut of the season. Think of a less racy Bridgerton with humour thrown in and that's exactly what you're in for with this book. Loved it from start to finish. Hope there's another in the pipeline as I'd definitely read it.

A Lady's Guide to Fortune-Hunting was an incredibly enjoyable read and this story of Kitty- a young woman forced to come to Regency London to find a rich husband, in order to save her sisters from debt and a life of servitude- will be loved by anyone who has enjoyed watching Bridgerton- indeed this felt like it could easily be a storyline for a new series!
Kitty is a great heroine, a young woman with agency and in a genuinely difficult situation that prompts her fortune-hunting behaviour, and Lord Radcliffe a satisfyingly terse, troubled and imposing hero. Though I'm not sure I'd say that this was a multi-layered narrative, there are some really nice observations about the unequal and hypocritical nature of the 'ton' in regency London and it's very satisfying to see Kitty shake things up. The writing was charming and witty and the enemies-to-lovers story-line gave me all the feels!
I wonder if there will be more to come from Sophie Irwin- will this be a series with each of the Talbot sisters having their own novel?
Thanks #netgalley and #harpercollins for the advanced reading copy. This was exactly the escapist read that I needed!

I flew through this gorgeous book and absolutely loved it. As a long-time Heyer fan, and someone who has read every single regency romance going I have to say I think
Irwin completely nailed it. A Lady’s Guide to Fortune Hunting is light, funny and romantic while also gently nudging the reader to consider the actual plight of women during this period.
It is difficult to write something genuinely fresh in this area of historical romance - which is not necessarily a problem, I’ll defend my love of a good trope to the death! - but in turning the fortune hunter into our heroine I think Irwin has done just that. A five star read for me and one I’ll be recommending to everyone.

Absolutely perfect for fans of Bridgerton, this is a light romance with a gentle humour. The characters are exactly what you would hope for and I really enjoyed the interactions, it would be a perfect beach read.

I love historical romances and this was no exception. I was invested in the characters from the beginning and loved the story throughout. It gave me bridgerton vibes to start with because of the setting and characters in the ton but it was so much more - better plot and more to the storylines. Such a good book for escapism!

I haven't read the Bridgerton books, but I really wanted to get into regency romance so I picked this up.
Suffice to say, I wasn't disappointed! This was fun, witty and I loved our main character's banter with the Lords. She isn't afraid to say what she thinks, and her incentive for finding a rich husband was hilarious. I really had a good time with this one. The writing was great, straightforward and the plot unfolded quite well.
I want to read more from this author, and I think regency romance is definitely something I want to read more of!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an e-arc!

Utterly delightful tale of Kitty - forced to seek a rich husband to cover her parents' debts - as she charms her way through London high society. Radcliffe is everything you want from a Regency hero - gruff, but with a heart of gold. I highly recommend it, and can't wait to read more from Sophie Irwin.

"She had work to do tonight, after all, and for once, it wasn't just to do with charming the gentlemen. The Lady Patronesses of Almack's were the highest ranking and most esteemed members of Regency society, and they each wielded extraordinary social power. An Almack's voucher from one of these ladies would be the ultimate seal of approval."
1818 Dorset and Miss Kitty Talbot finds herself jilted by her wealthy fiancé shortly after her father has died, leaving them with no income and many debts. Determined to take matters into her own hands she and sister Cecily travel to London to enter society under the guidance of their late mothers friend 'Aunt' Dorothy. Spirited and bright Kitty soon envagles herself into the wealth De Lacy family, her eyes set on their youngest son, Archie, until eldest brother Lord Radcliffe returns to their London home to protect the family's fortune. Will Kitty succeed in obtaining a proposal from a wealthy gentleman before her family's debts are called in or will London's Regency society best her with its unwritten rules and etiquette?
Instantly drawn into engaging Kitty's new world, the plot moves at the same, speedy pace as she does. Kitty is a fantastic protagonist who soon demonstrates she is focused but not mercenary, practical and kind. With shades of Bridgerton, Pride & Prejudice and The Vanished Bride, the focus is on the main characters, particularly Kitty and Radcliffe, as their adventures force them to get to know themselves, and each other, better. The descriptions of lavish London society through the eyes of Kitty and Cecily are escapist and the scathing portrayal of many of the wealthy, but egotistical and vapid gentlemen make for entertaining reading. There are hints of romance in this witty and engaging historical fiction debut.

Ive been into everything regency lately and looking for a book that would tick all the boxes. This book was it! Omg it is fabulous.
This is the story of Kitty and Cecily who set off for London to live with their aunt and go in search of a rich husband who will be able to pay off their debts. Of course things don't always go to plan and the same can be said in this story!
Highly recommend this story if like me you are in a bit of a slump after Bridgerton!
