A gorgeous cookbook filled with beautiful photographs of delicious recipes for the tomato lover. As a home cook and tomato gardener, I found these recipes are written very clearly and easy to follow instructions. I will recommend this book for purchase for the library collection.
First, I should say I’m a little biased because I love tomatoes. All kinds, all cooking methods, sweet and savory. The recipes feel so fresh and easy. There are recipes from all different cultures and parts of the world. The serving size, ingredients, and instructions are all listed and easy to follow. There are even pictures that look delicious! My husband isn’t as huge of a tomato aficionado as I am, and even he enjoyed the recipes I tried. This cookbook can be used all months of the year, not just tomato season. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.
Tomato Love is a very good cookbook to have when you're trying to find ways to use a lot of garden tomatoes. The romesco sauce, salsa, and sun-dried tomato scones look wonderful and I can't wait to try them, along with the Roasted tomato basil soup with pumpernickel croutons.
There are a lot of recipes using canned tomatoes, which makes me happy because I am reviewing this book in the winter. Last summer/fall, I canned my crop of garden tomatoes and I have plenty of home-canned organic tomatoes left to use.
I have only one criticism: There are only two recipes that I did not like--the barbecue sauce and the cocktail sauce. This is because they don't use fresh or canned tomatoes, but recommend using Heinz ketchup and Heinz chili sauce. That's too processed for me.
Overall, this is a great book of ideas for using your garden tomatoes.
I received a free copy of this book from the publishers via Netgalley. My review is voluntary.
Thank you to Storey Publishing and NetGalley for an ARC of this book. I am an unabashed lover of all things tomatoes! My dad used to grow them in our tiny backyard and I would go out with a salt shaker and just pick them off the vine and eat them. Nothing like a freshly picked tomato. Sadly, I did not inherit my dad's green thumb and have to rely on local growers to get my fix of tomatoes in the summer. I will drive long distances to get truly great tomatoes! I have some favorite recipes I make only during the summer months when I can get my hands on local grown tomatoes but this book has expanded my repertoire! I can't wait till the summer for that tomato bounty! I highly recommend this book if you are a tomato aficionado!
As one who gardens, I'm always on the lookout for new recipes to use up the bounty. This cookbook does just that. Some recipes are for fairly common things, while some are more adventurous. I enjoyed the recipes as well as the beautifully done photographs. I definitely found some new things to try once summertime tomatoes are ready!
This was a gorgeous book, I’ll definitely purchase it! Loved the simplicity of the recipes (great reminder that you don’t need a ton of ingredients to make a great meal) and really liked how each recipe had an image (plus the photography was well done). I’ve already made some of the recipes and everyone has enjoyed them!
Beautiful book! I loved it from the very beginning with the descriptions of different varieties, different tomato products and then all the amazing recipes that followed. I absolutely love when a cookbook has photos to show each recipe and the photos in this recipe book were stunning! I grow different varieties of tomatoes every summer and often have a surplus in the fall with no idea what to do with them. I now have a few recipes and ideas to use them up in creative and delicious ways!
Thank you for allowing me to review this beautiful book!
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I will be purchasing a copy for the library as well as a copy for myself because there are so many recipes I want to try. Super easy to use, has great pictures, and excellent recipes.
Thank you for approving me to read this one.
This starts with some practical information with regards to different types of tomatoes both fresh and store cupboard.
I like that it is set out with recipes for different meals from breakfast to mains, snacks and some other basics.
Like alot of people I lose inspiration as to what to make and fall into the pattern of making the same thing over and over again. This has given me some renewed inspiration and some meals I'm definitely going to trans know will enjoy. There are even recipes that my son will quite like.
Can't wait to use some of recipes on my meal plan!
So, of course the cover of the book grabbed my attention first! I love tomatoes and this is the first book I've ever seen which makes them the star of each recipe.it's more than just making a sauce. Cooking with fresh tomatoes vs pantry tomatoes is always something I've struggled with. What's the difference, well that's explained. Stunning photos and recipes I would never have thought of making. Contents page is short and to the point, why beak down every single recipe that's in the book. Best recipes this far has got to be the Mushroom, Kale & Tomato Strata. Swap out the Kale for Spinach as well!
With "Tomato Love" cookbook you can enjoy flavorful fresh tomato dishes all year around! 🍅🍅🍅

Thank you NetGalley and Storey Publishing for the honor of reviewing this awesome cookbook!
Tomatoes are among my favorite foods, and I was thrilled to have a pre-publication look at this cookbook devoted to them. Tomato Love is filled with inspiration for new ways to incorporate tomatoes into everyday cooking and make these flavorful fruits the star of your plate. I also appreciated Howard's overview of common tomato varieties and cooking tips before diving into the recipes - and that most are meat-free.
Favorites dishes include:
* Shakshuka with Extra Veg
* Mushroom, Kale, and Tomato Strata
* Sun-Dried Tomato and White Bean Dip
* Southwest Quinoa Salad
* Tomato Vinaigrette
And, the Ravioli Lasagna was an absolute revelation!
If you love tomatoes, Tomato Love is cookbook you'll return to again and again.
I received a digital pre-publication copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, and I'll be including it in an upcoming book blog post on upcoming releases for foodies. I will also be adding a hard copy to my permanent collection upon its first day of Summer release - and then dashing to my nearest farmers market.
Tomato Love, will teach you quality recipes for this very healthy item, the tomato.
A variety of choices to tempt and tickle your taste buds with.
Enjoy.
Another great book as a reference. A pleasure to read with valuable information within its pages. A book any cook would love. Thanks
This book isn't just a book about all the ways you can eat tomatoes, but offers all kinds of different recipes using this wonderful fruit. And in many ways you might not have considered. A great recipe book using one of my favorite ingredients.
Juicy and mouthwatering fresh tomatoes seem so far from reality on this -37C day. However, the author does mention a variety that is better than others any time of the year (Campari) as well as using them in other forms such as canned (preferably your own!), paste or sundried. She also compares varieties and gives prepping ideas (such as grating).
When reading food books to review, I think it best to prepare a few of the recipes first. My favourite was the fabulous Caramelized Onion and Tomato Jam (a real hit on a Christmas charcuterie board) but also really enjoyed the creamy Sun-Dried Tomato-White Bean Dip (same charcuterie board!) and tasty Oven Baked Cod. Roasted Tomato Basil Soup spells summer...looking forward to this version. The Baked Chicken Thighs looks excellent. So do the Tomato Vinaigrette and Sweet, Spicy, Smoky Barbecue Sauce.
My only wish is for more original and unique ideas. However, this is a good and inspirational book. We could all use some of that. Besides. Tomatoes do not need much embellishment to taste spectacularly.
My sincere thank you to Storey Publishing and NetGalley for the privilege of reading and cooking from this delicious book, even in the depths of winter.
Tomato Love features everything you could possibly want to cook with Tomatoes in one cookbook. I loved how I got to learn not only the different types of tomatoes but also how to cook each one of them. I am personally a very picky eater and it took me a while to be a tomato fan, but now that I am I used this cookbook to try some new recipes and honestly they were insanely delicious.
Some of my favorites include the Tomato Goat Cheese Tart, Pan Come Tomato, and Spaghetti with Pan Roasted Cauliflower. The photography in this book is also stunning. I can't wait to cook more with this book and if you are a a lover of tomatoes you have to pick it up.
At first reading of this book I felt cheated. I felt it was rather patronising to have recipes for Pan Con Tomato, Tomato Grlled Cheese and Tomato Grilled Cheese. However, as I reread the book i realised that with the right ingredients the simplicity makes the experience mindful.
There are some interesting recipes including Shakshuka with Extra veg, Instant Pot Choose Your Own Chilli chicken and Patlican Soslu.
I did learn that it is important to-use tinned whole tomatoes rather than chopped, the reason is contained in the book.
On reflection, this book would be excellent as a section in a larger book, but does not contain enough new material to merit any more than a 3 star review.
Thank you netgalley for the opportunity to review this advance copy.
If you love tomatoes, this book is for you. It will introduce to a few recipes that are not common to other cookbooks. Plus there are some you might recognize but made in a different way like “No-Cook Tomato Sauce”, which I’m excited to try. This book will give you some different recipes to try and shake up your routine.
Great cookbook for fans of the versatile red fruit that’s not a vegetable! 🍅
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me access an advance copy of this book in exchange for my feedback.
