What started off as a simple job as a nanny turns into something more complex and deeply disturbing. I did feel for Mrs Bird, Collette, and what her family does to protect her and I did wonder how it would end. When the reveal came I had a serious OMG reaction that I didn't see that coming. Brilliant, twisted, psychological read that had ne hooked from the start

BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'Nanny Needed' by Georgina Cross
Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Avon publishers and Georgina Cross.
Publication date 28th April 2022.
This is the second book that I have read by this author. I have also read 'The Stepdaughter' which I would highly recommend!!
I was originally drawn to this book by its eye catching cover and intriguing title and synopsis. The synopsis stated that this book is 'Perfect for fans of The Nanny, The Couple Next Door and The Family Upstairs'. I am a fan of all these books so am looking forward to seeing if it lives up to this claim. I am also a huge fan of Georgina and if this book is half as good as 'The Stepdaughter' it is bound to be a page turner!! I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).
This novel consists of 59 chapters which are short to medium in length so perfect to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This book is written in first person perspective with the main protagonist being Sarah. The benefits of books written in first person perspective are as long as they are well written it makes you feel that you are being spoken to by the protagonist and it can create more of a bond between yourselves and them. The way it was written made me feel like I was right next to Sarah throughout.
Wow!! WTAF?!? JUST WOW!!!! Where do I even begin? What an absolutely gripping, intense psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat, flying through the pages and full of suspense!! Filled with twists, turns, red herrings, lies, secrets, shocks and explosive twists you won't see coming!!! I have read hundreds of books and this has been the one that has shocked me the most this year and it has definitely hit my top 3 biggest twists of all time!!! I WAS absolutely hooked from beginning to end and just could not put it down. I loved the fact that it had a creepy gothic atmosphere throughout and OMG did the hairs on the end of my arms raise!! My heart was absolutely pounding throughout and I was on the edge of my seat. When the big reveal came my mind was absolutely blown away and this is definitely one of the few books that will stay with me for a very long time.
Do not even attempt to start this until you have cleared yiur schedules as you will not be able to put it down!!!
The characters were strong and realistic and I was completely invested in them from beginning to end. I need to be careful here that I don't say too much and give anything away so I'll keep it quite short. I really clicked with Sarah and my heart went out to her and Jonathan. They are the perfect couple just trying to make ends meet and when Sarah finds the perfect opportunity to give themselves a new start then how can they say no?? My heart absolutely broke at a certain point in this book. Sarah and Jonathan are such likeable and friendly characters which definitely helped me become completely absorbed in the storyline. Unfortunately I am not going to give any if my thoughts on the rest of the characters, I've been thinking and thinking but there doesn't seem to be a way for me to give my honest opinion of them without giving too much away. However, if you have read this, and you'll be mad not too, feel free to pop me a message and let me know what you thought of the characters and the storyline!!
Congratulations Georgina on an absolutely explosive page turner!!! Also a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS on writing a book that has shocked me the most this year!!! I read about 30 plus books a month so this is no easy feat but you managed it!!! This is exactly why you are one of my favourite authors!!! Here's to your next success!!! 🥂
Overall a mind blowing, suspense filled psychological page turning thriller with an explosive ending you WILL NEVER SEE COMING!!!
Genres covered include Suspense, Mystery, Psychological Fiction, Thriller, Gothic Fiction, Psychological Thriller and Moor Fiction
I would recommend this book to fans of any of the above as well as fans of 'The Nanny' , 'The Couple Next Door' and 'The Family Upstairs' and for fans of page turning books that leave you shocked.
361 pages.
This book is £2.99 to purchase on kindle via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

First of all I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for both the audio and ebook of this book in exchange for an honest review.
WOW. What a book.
This book is just what I needed. I have been in such a slump lately and this has well and truly got me out of it. I read/listened to this book in two sittings as I couldn't stop and I genuinely didn't want it to end.
I was unsure what I would make of this book as I had seen people's reviews saying you have to stretch your imagination and yes I agree in some parts you do but isn't that the joys of reading fiction?!
I also loved the characters in this book, I had such a love/hate relationship with Collette but she really did win my heart in the end. I love an author that can make you feel like that about characters. I will certainly be keeping my eyes out for more Gerorgina Cross.
If you're looking for a quick, twisty, creepy thriller then this is for you!
When Sarah is given an opportunity to earn a considerable amount of money to reduce her debts, nannying for the wealthy Bird family, she jumps at the opportunity. All is not as it appears and one crazy incident after another keeps happening. You are drawn into this crazy plot and will never be able to imagine what happens. I loved this book, my favourite read of 2022. I give it 6 stars.
Sarah sees an ad for a nanny to the wealthy Bird family. She and her fiancé, Jonathan, are working at a restaurant but barely making ends meet. So, Sarah decides to apply for the nanny job to work during the day and keep her waitressing job at night.
Sarah gets an interview and enters a lush apartment. She meets with Collette Bird, mother of 4-year-old, Patty. After some chatting, she is hired at an amazing salary. But, each day brings more questions for Sarah that leave her stunned. What has she gotten herself into?
This book is totally mind-boggling. Every page seems to bring more surprises and shocks. It’s so scary that I think that anyone will want to think twice before applying for a job like this. Don’t miss this book. It’s compellingly good!!
Copy provided by the NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I had just seen a lot of good things about this book all over the social media so I dove straight in to know what the fuss was all about.
Georgina Cross's writing is very good, kept me interested and the storyline as gripping. I am definitely going to recommend this book to anyone and everyone!
When Sarah sees an ad seeking a Nanny for a wealthy family, she decides to try her luck - she needs the extra money as she is completely under debts. When she meets the family and tells them she has no prior experience with kids but would love to try her hand at this role they agree, and all they ask in return is complete discretion about the family. Sarah agrees, signs papers vouching for the same - oh the roller coaster ride which began after this scenario in the book, just couldn't stop reading it.
Thank you Netgalley & Avon Books UK for approving the ARC, I devoured this one - it's been over 4 days I have finished this book but the story is just not getting out of my head!
This book is a page turner! I loved it.
Now don't get me wrong I thought I guessed the twist right from the off (i've read too many books like this to not see the subtle signs) but the twists and turns throughout had me guessing if I was right or way off the mark.
This book is a triumph and and a great read. I loved the characters, all have a hidden side to them. I wish we could have had more of Freddie, Malcolm and Pauline though just to add that bit more depth to their characters. But that is all personal taste.
I think I need to seek out some more Georgina Cross books.
Ok, let me tell you that this book had me hooked from the very beginning. I speed read this book - even though I could see the very predictable ending! I just needed to know how each character reacted.
It's a summer novel meant to be devoured quickly. It is not especially smart, since the ending is obvious and there are holes in the plot. But despite all of that, it is worth a few hours of fantasy.
I was hooked from the first page. An immersive well written story. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.
Wow! I was literally hooked into the story from start to finish! A fast paced thriller, unputdownable with twists and thrills along the way. Worthy five stars I shall be looking out for more by this author
Many thanks to Netgalley and Avon for the ARC
OK, first you need to go into this one a little open-minded as it is not your typical run-of-the-mill thriller. In fact it's quite an original spin on the nanny trope that is both fresh and utterly twisted! But, oh, what a read! And I loved every single minute of it.
This is my first book by Georgina Cross and I must say I was impressed...even if it is a tad far fetched. So what? It's fiction. It's supposed to be fun and entertaining. And, boy was it ever! And I do love a good nanny thriller. But where do I start to review this deliciously twisted tale?
Sarah Larsen is 26 years old and drowning in debt after caring for her now deceased Aunt Clara, who raised her after the death of her parents when she was five. Wanting a fresh start, Sarah left Virginia Beach and headed to the bright lights of New York, where dreams are made of (as the song goes). But living in NYC is a tough gig as it is so expensive. She meets and falls in love with Jonathan and the two bceome engaged and move in together to pool their expenses and help keep Sarah from bankruptcy. Jonathan is the perfect fiance, supportive and basically an all-round good guy. Currently getting by on tips waitressing, Sarah and Jonathan have grand plans for their future if only they could get out from this mountain of debt.
One day, Sarah comes across a flyer pinned to the noticeboard in the foyer of their apartment building advertising for a nanny in the Upper West Side.
"Nanny needed. Discretion is of the utmost importance. Special conditions apply."
That alone should have been a red flag but she applies for the position, is interviewed and offered the job. The salary alone is just what she needs to help get them out of debt and move towards their future together.
Arriving at the Upper West Side penthouse to start her employment, Sarah is keen to meet the child whom she is to nanny. Her employer, Collette Bird, greets her in a cloud of Chanel No.5 but with no sign of 4 year old Patty just yet. To say Collette is odd is a bit of an understatement. Eccentric? Loopy? Or just plain strange? Whatever it is, Sarah gets an odd vibe whenever she's in her presence that she can't quite explain. But she thinks no more about it after signing her employment contract, which she barely reads, for three months with a salary of $1200 a week and a condition that "discretion is the utmost importance". Red flag much.
After Collette herself, dealing mostly with her stepson Stephen and the housekeeper Pauline, Sarah believes this job to be a dream come true. But...if it sounds too good to be true, then it usually is.
The Birds are an extremely odd family with a lot of secrets and a circle of protection that surrounds Collette particularly. For she never ever leaves the apartment. And Sarah soon discovers there is far more to this nanny position than she had bargained for. But she has signed a contract by which she is bound for three months or she could face financial ruin with an unwelcome lawsuit. She should have read that fine print.
Just wow! NANNY NEEDED really is pure unadulterated fun and entertainment, even if you have to suspend belief at times. Who cares? It's fiction and it was such a fun read. It was certainly a bunch of crazy with some very odd occurrences and some strange people. There were times it was creepy particularly when the big reveal came as the narrative takes a very disturbing direction. Seriously, the Crazy Train has arrived and is ready for boarding!
It is such a crazy read that was such fun and had me turning the pages that I read NANNY NEEDED in the space of a few hours in a day. It was such an addictive read I couldn't put it down. I was seriously like a moth to a flame.
Overall, it was engrossing and heart pounding and a whole lot of crazy fun! The reveal was shockingly unexpected and well played. The ending, satisfying. I have to say it was one of the most fun reads I have had in a thriller. I enjoyed every moment of this deliciously disturbing tale.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Nanny Needed by Georgina Cross
I really enjoyed this novel, well written, characters we described and introduced into the story, great unexpected twist at the end, didn't see that coming
Main character Sarah and her fiancée Jonathan both work for the same restaurant as servers, they are struggling under a pile of debt and avoid calls from creditors, determined to get through it though and work as much as they can. Then Sarah finds an add posted for a Nanny, the wages look great and would help them out. She goes for the interview and gets the job, but.... she can't talk about the family at all and signs a contract. As Sarah gets to know the family she is working for, she realizes that some things are just off
I would recommend this novel, there were a couple of times mid novel where I felt it started to drag on but that didn't last long and towards the end of the novel I couldn't put it down! The ending is fabulous, didn't see that coming
This gripping compulsive story had me hooked from the very beginning. I couldnt figure out where it was leading and could never have imagined how it was going to end. The twists at the end were brilliant .
Many thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC. A book that I will definitely recommend
Oh wow I loved everything about this book! It was such a roller coaster of a ride. It had twists and turns galore with the suspense and tension building with each turn of the page. I didn't want to put it down so I didn't and devoured it in one sitting. Just fantastic!
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for my ARC.
I’d like to thank Avon Books UK and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Nanny Needed’ written by Georgina Cross in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Sarah Larsen and her fiancé Jonathan are barely making ends meet when she sees a poster in the lobby advertising for a Nanny for the Bird family at 101 West 78th Street. She phones, is invited for an interview, and to her delight is offered the position with a salary far exceeding what she earns at her present job, but on the understanding that she doesn’t tell anyone what it involves. On her first day Sarah senses there’s something strange about the family; has she made a terrible mistake?
I was intrigued by the description of this novel and although I’d label it as more of a family drama than thriller I couldn’t wait to read it. The beginning of the story caught my attention and the plot was interesting enough to keep me reading despite it being unbelievably far-fetched, and I didn’t like any of the characters who were definitely weird. I had to keep reading if only to see what would happen so I shouldn’t have been surprised when there was a massive twist towards the end that gave it an absolutely crazy conclusion. I’m glad I read this novel but it’s not one I’ll remember in the months to come.
Thanks to netgalley for the advanced ebook.
This one kept my interest with its twisty, if slightly unbelievable tale! But the ending left me a little unsatisfied.
What a great book with a twist in it. Sarah finds a poster with a nanny job, she’s in debt so it’s a perfect job to help her money issues. This is no ordinary nanny position though and after signing a NDA she’s trapped in the job.
It’s a fun read with great characters. The twist at the end really took me by surprise.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.
Unfortunately I had to DNF this . I could see the main twist coming from a mile off and upon reading the other twists and spoiler I'm glad that I didn't carry on. I didn't feel any pull to the characters or to carry on reading the story.
This is a great read.
It’s a bit of a hard one to review without giving away a major spoiler that you really need to discover for yourself.
Sarah applies for a job as a Nanny and thinks it’s the answer to all her money problems.
What she experiences as part of the job is very bizarre and the family she is working for clearly have issues.
Even when you know what’s happening, the story keeps you intrigued as you never really know what’s coming next.
This is an original story that I really enjoyed.
Thanks to Avon Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
