Hale Mary Seton is a manager of public figures who need their image rescued or, at the very least, maintained. Most of her clients are struggling – underachievers, misfits, or they simply don’t know how to stay out of trouble. One of her newest clients is a successful.hockey player and a fan favorite. But he doesn’t have an ounce of sense when it comes to managing his image or even his life. So, when he is accused of murder, Hale jumps in to prove his innocence. The question is, can she?

The Enforcer is the third book in the Hale Mary Mystery series, but the first one I’ve read. It definitely can be read as a stand-alone and I found it quite enjoyable. It is a good story, filled with a variety of characters, a touch of humor, and a nice pace. This is one series I will be on the lookout for and I hope the author has more books in the future.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book for review.

Two friends, one fledgling business, a wanna be client who won't take no.

Hale has some baggage with family dynamics, a failed sports career, loving the wrong guy. But she's trying to move on with the help of her BFF, Norma and older brother Ziggy.

Hale and Norma are building a sports management business - throw in a bit of off the books sluething and they are the perfect match for the Enforcer aka Ross the hockey star who won't take no for an answer.

The start of a series that could be very entertaining as Hale navigates adulthood and business.

This is the first book by Katrina Kyle in her Hale Mary series that i have read. I dare readers not to fall in love with the characters. The Enforcer is a perfect blend between Cozy Mystery and Harder Darker mysteries.

The author brings to love fun characters and a story that readers will be able to enjoy.
Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of The Enforcer.
I will be going back reading book 1 and 2 while I wait for the next book in this fun, exciting new series.

Unfortunately this book started off with me being very confused as I read the initial chapters Who is Hale and what kind of name is that? And what is their professions/job?
Chapter 7 gave me some explanation - Hail Mary is the final throw when all seems to rest on it for a successful outcome in sports jargon. So Hale, but again why? There was also an amount of confusion as to just how many siblings she had and whether or not they were male. I initially thought she was the last child and this was the hail mary for a girl - maybe it was, as there was quite a gap between her and the next oldest - but then there are younger siblings so.. and is there an older sister?
Maybe this is all discussed the earlier books in the series... It should have been discussed here as my mind at least, spent half my reading time wondering about these things!
I did rather like our 'enforcer' as he showed us that being big and burly and definitely the last stop in hockey, did not make him a big bad guy off the field. That they could have emotions and be loving too.
the storyline was very different and at times I was confused as to where the line was drawn between the work that Hale did and PR or... I guess Hale was in the 'Scandal' avoidance area, but not in the acquire sponsors or other means of money making off the field nor PR.
All of this was new to me and as I found the explanations in the book not clear (US sports followers probably understood it better) it detracted from the story. I am thus deducting a star for my confusion. A good author would have made all this clear in a couple of paragraphs.

The enforcer by Katrina Kyle.
Hale Mary Mysteries Book 3.
Hale Mary has always had a soft spot for lost causes. Perhaps because she’s always felt like one herself. Which is why her talent management agency’s client list is filled with misfits, miscreants, and underachievers.
This was a very good read. Good story and characters. 4*.

Hale Mary is sports agent with an eclectic group of friends and perhaps an even more eclectic group of clients. This was a fun book with a surprise twist at the end. An enjoyable read.

Hale Seton and her business partner Norma Diaz help athletes repair and jump-start their careers. When a desperate baseball player is accused of murder, the only way to help him is to find better suspects for the police.

But there's more going on than appears on the surface. A lot more.

This story is fairly dry and aloof from emotion, and the story is disjointed at times, but still interesting enough that I wanted to know what happened.

I worked at liking Hale, but she kept doing stupid things like drinking too much at a crucial point in a plan. She would completely believe someone, then doubt them for several chapters. It was like watching a tv show with 25 minutes worth of material, drawn out for almost two hours. I couldn't connect with any of the characters.

What made it truly unpleasant every step of the way, was the crude language and swearing throughout the book, mostly spoken by the primary characters (women). I fail to understand why the author considered the filth necessary. It has nothing to do with the story at all.

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this arc.

I've not read this author nor this series before reading The Enforcer. I based my request on the comparison to Stephanie Plum. While there were a couple of wisps of Stephanie, I felt it more like a Mike Lupica's characters mashup with the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

An easy-breezy sports mystery with mostly likeable and engaging characters. Mystery provided enough tension to keep the story moving forward, more so than most "cozy" mysteries, but nothing like "edge-of-your-seat". I enjoyed the characters even more than the story.... enough to add the earlier books of this series to my tsunami of a TBR pile.

Easy escapist fun read
