I was unable to get the audio file to work for this title sorry!
Good luck with reviews and its progress - I hope to try a print version soon!
Schade.
Clever and twisted in similar proportions! Not as I suspected and really had me intrigued from the first moment.
I loved the multiple narrators and how each character had their own chapter
Thought it was a great read ,
With a very twisty ending

Firstly I'm so annoyed the audiobook ended on chapter 37 so I had to look-up how it ended.
Otherwise, I really enjoyed this. It was fast paced and really had me wanting to read more, I was constantly trying to guess who done it.
The characters had depth and great personality, the narrators really brought the characters to life (great choice of voice actors).
Also the detail gone into the surrounding was brill. I really felt like I was there with them running through the nature reserve.
One thing I feel needs acknowledging is the authors including a deaf main character. Nell Pattison is deaf herself and includes this into the character of Emily. The detail gone into it is really fascinating, as you really get into how she views things and copes with situations which also added to the suspense of the novel.
I highly recommend this to any Thriller fan. 4.5* rounded to 5*
I will 100% be picking up more books by Nell Pattison.
A good read , told from the POV of the 7 characters of the book. A real whodunnit which kept you guessing throughout and a massive twist and cliffhanger at the end which I didn’t see coming !!
Unfortunately, the audiobook ended before the last few chapters of the book , fortunately I also had the digital copy so could finish it !! Each character has a different narrator which really bought the characters to life
Seven friends set out on a winters hike. By the times it’s over, one of them will be dead and one of them is responsible. I loved that the story is told through all their perspectives, which could have potentially got confusing but the character development was so strong that it wasn’t an issue. The chapters are short which adds to the pace of the book along with lots of twists and cliffhangers. I didn’t want to put it down, just one more chapter! The audiobook is as well narrated and an enjoyable listen!
I’m a fan of Nell Patison’s previous work, Silent House, so I was excited to read this book. I love that she’s includes a deaf character in all her works. It easily does teach and inform the reader.
Such an amazing thriller. Creepy, tense and suspenseful. I could not listen to this whilst out walking the dog as I got too nervous!
Audio book experience itself was actually really enjoyable, I love that it was narrated by a whole cast and each character had their own unique voice.
The story on the other hand is, i guess, a classic whodunit. But for me it lacked .. action? For the majority of the time we were running around the nature reserve and in the end I didn't actually catch the overall plot point?
Lots of secrets that somehow didn't quite make sense and the ending felt incomplete..
Perhaps an unpopular opinion, I've seen it praised a lot, so maybe it's just a me problem.
I enjoyed the beginning of this audio book and was intrigued by the different characters, however, it began to get a little 'samey' and not a lot happened so the middle part was difficult to keep listening to. There were lots of different characters and I thought having a different narrator for each of them was actually really helpful, I imagine reading it would be quite confusing though.
I kept listening though because I did want to know 'who dun it' and what would happen to them all...
#Hide by @NellPattinsonr is a standalone thriller (or the first in a new series) An absolute romp of a thriller – taking place in a nature reserve hence the title #hide. Unfortunately my #ARC audiobook ended abruptly at Chapter 37 – you’ll understand the frustration at this part of the story having to wait for publication to get the ending. This is the point in this story where the twists and turns are being revealed and sleep in aluding due to #justonemorechapter. This was one book I had no problems buying!
As with Nell’s other books #SilentSeries she represents the #deafcommunity and raises #deafawareness this time through #cochlearimplants and there is no #BSL involved – so a very different perspective.
Thank you #Netgalley and #HarperCollinsUKaudio for gifting me the #ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Hide by Nell Pattison Narrated by: David Thorpe, Sherry Baines, Alex Wingfield, Nick Biadon, Clare-Louise English, Billy Ashcroft, Beth Eyre. Each narrator was a character who told this story from their point of view, which made this book superb!
This new book by Nell is a psychological thriller involving seven friends, Alec, Kai, Emily, Morna, Ben, Lauren, and Dan, who on Boxing day decide to take a hike through a nature trail reserve. They are all nature enthusiasts this is a great way of becoming closer.
One of them winds up dead But, who?
I loved this audio book and it was Excellent from the start to the very end. This is a fast paced psychological thriller with lost of twists and turns throughout..
I recommend this audio book. I look forward to Nell Pattison's next book. I loved it
Big Thank you, Avon, and NetGalley for a copy of Hide by Nell Pattison.
This a character driven, claustrophobic, complex thriller set on a remote nature reserve in Winter. There are seven main characters who meet as a nature group. They appear diverse and unconnected except for the group but as the story progresses their connections emerge.
The characters are hard to empathise with and all have secrets from each other. The suspense is cleverly created using the characters' interactions, the setting and the weather. It takes a while to get into the story but once each character speaks and the tension between them grows, it's addictive listening.
The actors portraying the characters bring the story to life and this book works well in an audio format.
I received a copy of this audiobook from Harper Collins UK Audio (Avon ) via NetGalley
Seven friends. One killer. You can run, but you can’t hide…
A group of seven nature lovers (I would consider them more acquaintances than friends) gather at a nature preserve for a winter hike to observe startling murmurations. While the others are absorbed in the spectacle, one among them is killed. Everyone has something to hide and we quickly find out that everyone had a motive.
A well-written thriller with lots of twists that has been narrated very well.
Well, I am fairly sure my copy of the audiobook is missing the ending.
My copy ends with Emily outside the hut with Ben, and she has just discovered the pictures on his phone...
That CANNOT be the ending! If it is - the book really sucks!
I want the real ending!!!
I am only giving one star for now... It had potiential to be a 5-star right up until I realised I didn't have the ending.
I enjoyed this book and it had some tension. It was a little confusing at the beginning as there were so many characters to get my head around and to understand their backgrounds and place in the narrative. Once I got used to this, it was good and the pace was ok.
I did predict a couple of the plot twists, but that didn’t detract from the enjoyment of the book.
The last chapter was interesting and tied everything together leaving some room for another book.
A Boxing Day birdwatching trip turns to horror as a group of 7 go into the woods. There’s a gunshot and one of them dies. This multiple narrative audio book follows events from the perspective of each of those involved and bit by bit the listener learns of the secrets they hold.
I found it slow to start and the characters aren’t particularly likeable. But there’s a mystery to be solved; who’s the killer and what’s the motive? No one is quite as they seem and the tension builds as each reveals more of their story. It’s complex, rich in detail about the nature reserve and the hides for birdwatching. It builds slowly and the final twist is a cracker.
My thanks to the publisher for a review copy via Netgalley.
A cracking audiobook from Nell Pattinson. I really enjoyed the pacy and well written multi perspective narrative centred around a seemingly innocent boxing day jaunt around a nature reserve. The one thing I struggled with was the male characters’ names - Ben, Kai and Dan - I kept getting them confused and could have done with a longer name to distinguish between them. Excellent read.
Twisty. Intense and menacing. Hide tells the story of a disparate bird watching group as they are hunted down in the snow covered woods on Boxing Day (Dec26th) Told from multiple first person povs this is a story where nobody is what they seem and anyone could be a killer. Skilfully weaving together tangled family histories, sibling rival and misconceptions as the tension builds.
The audio book used several different narrators giving each character a distinctive voice and adding depth and layers to the story.
A departure from my genre comfort zone this one kept me guessing to the end.
(This audiobook missed the last 3 chapters 🥲 I waited until the book was out to finish it)
This was a good, tense thriller. The short and snappy chapters from the different perspectives made this a really fast read, I just wanted to keep reading.
