From the beginning, this book acknowledges how difficult training puppies and dogs can be. It's respectful to those that struggle from the first day right through to those that succeed immediately.

Each section begins with a comment or question about a real dog and its behaviour and actions, emphasising the point discussed. As such, it recognises the breadth of breeds and circumstances possible and the impact this can have on dog behaviour.

Spread throughout are facts about dogs that support the information given, such as the high number of receptors that dogs possess making them keen sniffers (p14). Some are really useful to be aware of, like the difference in dog barks and sounds (p50) whilst some offer helpful advice, like choosing a name (p52).

This is an ideal book for any dog owner to have on hand as a source of reliable, considered advice.

I really enjoyed this book and thought that it was a very good and informational book for any dog owner or dog lover.

This book is a fount of knowledge and wisdom! It contains information on dog senses, physiology, breeds, and behaviors. Some common questions are answered and training tips are offered.

Have you ever wondered what your is doing when they are sniffing things? This is answered with many other insightful questions using science and actual real life situations. This book is chock full of personal stories from dog lovers.. Lots of breeds are covered from their special traits to why they act the way they do or don't. Other topics are covered from what to do on a walk, how to stay safe, what is my dog telling me, how to understand their meaning of their barks. This is an easy and fast reading book with lots of pictures.

I have two dogs, Jack Russell siblings we found at a rescue after their previous owners went to a nursing home. They were nearly 4 years old and had been neglected but were smart, with wonderful personalities, filled with apprehension but very eager to please. I wish I'd had this book when we got them. Fortunately over the last few years I've gradually learned many of the things in this book, but how great would it have been to have this guidebook to answer all my questions right away in one single, simple, but very informative resource? Despite years of Googling for answers to many pet-related questions, I still found lots of great tips and answers to some of the questions that I haven't found answered elsewhere. In other words, whether you have a new dog or have had your dog for years this book is a great resource for caring pet parents who want to make life better for both themselves and their 4-legged family members.

This book is so informational and helpful! I loved the detail in every section. It is very great and I really enjoyed reading it.

This is an informative book for any dog owner, presented in a refreshingly casual and easy-to-read manner. It feels more like a conversation than a typical instruction manual.

This book is invaluable to novice and experienced dog owners alike. I'm finding it fascinating and it can only help in understanding and nurturing a better relationship with my four legged friends.

A good book for those of us who have dogs & want to understand why they behave in certain ways and what we can do to help them.
One of my dogs is reactive to other dogs and is fearful of any new situation or unfamiliar people, so I am always on the lookout for things that oils help me help her. This is an informative and interesting book, set out in an easy-access way and covering a number of things from puppies to older dogs. Great addition for any dog owner or anyone considering getting a dog.

I thoroughly enjoyed how every behavior was explained through a question that had been asked. This really helped put into perspective that these are behaviors and problems other people have had, and the advice for teaching was excellent. I fully plan on using some of the training techniques with my dogs!

A pleasing and simple book to help dog parents understand why our dogs do the things that they do and how they communicate basic emotions. The dog behavior and book is a must have for any dog owner. It is filled with so many questions and answers. It truly does a great job at answering all the questions. From puppies to senior dogs this book covers anything that you can think of. It will be a purchase our library certainly makes.

Lots of fab information in the pages of this book, packed in with cute photos are also tips and tricks of how to handle your furry friends. The book itself is very easy to read, with a good layout and some smashing advice to boot. I particularly like the question section, very handy and even though there were plenty I'd had over the years that'd be answered, I still found it refreshing to read.

A good dog book to read and I'd recommend giving this one a whirl, there were some bits I didn't agree with but that's normal for these types of books.

If you know me at all you know I am a huge lover of dogs, so I was very excited for the opportunity to read The Dog Behavior Answer Book: Practical Insights & Proven Solutions For Your Canine Questions. This book answers questions in story form which I found enjoyable. It was interesting to read about other peoples struggles with their dogs and how they deal with them. It's also the kind of book that you can read bits and pieces of it a little at a time. This makes it an easy read.

I didn't really fell like there was some great insight into training your dog or breaking bad behavior. You would have to know very little about canines to not know the answers to the questions that were included. Even though I didn't really learn anything I felt like it was an enjoyable read. This would be a good resource for a first time dog owner, or maybe a gift for a young person who loves animals.

Okay, so I have 3 dogs, all of them with completely different personalities. Two are outside dogs and one is a house dog.
