Oh my ! I actually loved this book. I was literally crying with laughter in parts. I love the relationships between Meddy and her Aunt's. Just such a funny and feel good book. I was sad to finish it.

I hadn't read the first book in this series and was wary that I would feel lost. I wasn't. I fell in love with all the characters. Meddy is brilliant and the love and patience she has with her aunts is amazing! The book will make you laugh and it will definitely cheer you up on a dark winters evening. I loved it and cannot recommend it enough

Dial A For Aunties was a tough act to follow but Sutanto has done it again with Four Aunties and a Wedding!
I didn't realise how much I'd missed the aunts and their broken english phrases, not to mention how easily and calmly they can resort to violence to protect the ones they love.

I was so excite dto ne given this arc to read I cannot even tell you and it did not disappoint. It is written so well - do you expect any less from Jesse Sutanto and the characters as with the previous book are so well developed.
The storyline is so funny that I laughed out loud on public transport. I loved it and Jesse Sutanto is rapidly becoming one of my favourite authors.

I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review—thanks so much to Netgalley for sending this to me!

Dial A For Aunties was my favourite book of 2021, and is now one of my favourite books of all time. I never expected a sequel, so the knowledge that we were getting another book about Meddy and her impossible, stubborn, loving, zany aunts absolutely blew my mind. I’m not afraid to admit that I’ve been stalking Netgalley literally since this book was announced, waiting for it to become available. And this book did not disappoint.

This book takes place shortly after the events of Dial A For Aunties, a comedy of errors that had me cackling to myself while I lay in the bathtub for about four hours, turning into a wrinkly prune, completely unable to stop reading even for long enough to get out of the bath. (To stay on theme, I read this one in the bath, too. Though there was less pruning this time around.) Determined to put the chaos of the first book behind her, Meddy just wants to get married to the love of her life, her incredible fiancé Nathan. Except unfortunately for Meddy, things just can’t go right, and she’s soon embroiled in a plot that is, if possible, even more wild than the first one.

I wasn’t sure how Jesse Sutanto could possibly top the events of Dial A For Aunties, which so brilliantly toed the line between amazing and ridiculous. That book definitely pushed the limits of what is plausible, and this one didn’t quite strike the same balance. I will admit that there were times when things went a bit too far for me. I still had a lot of fun reading it, but my eyebrows were thoroughly raised. The last book managed to somehow, just about, stay believable. This one… not so much, and it did take me out of the story a little bit. While I still had loads of fun laughing at the aunties’ antics, and once again Jesse Sutanto has crafted an addictive and unputdownable book, I couldn’t quite buy into everything that was going on, which did lessen my enjoyment slightly. That being said, the book does end up addressing some of the reasons why the events seem perhaps a bit TOO larger than life, and the explanation won me over, leaving me with a far more favourable impression after reading than I necessarily had at first. I definitely want to reread this one in the future and see how my experience changes with the extra context that the ending provides.

I did also notice that while reading this sequel, I was a bit more aware of certain traits of Meddy’s that carried over from the first book that became a bit more frustrating, namely her inability to stand up for herself. As a result, certain people in this book don’t get treated very well, not the least Meddy herself, and as someone who’s quickly growing so attached to these characters, I was frustrated on their behalf. However, I believe this series is going to continue and therefore there does still need to be room for more growth, and I think I can sniff out hints at future conflicts that I’m highly excited about… (Is Annie the new Deborah Rose? I do so enjoy seeing a mean mother-in-law put in her place…)

The main highlight of this book for me was that it tackles a subject that I rarely see but am obsessed with in fiction: best friend break-ups. Endless stories have been devoted to lovers breaking up, but rarely do we see what happens when a beautiful platonic relationship goes sour. There’s a friendship in this book that was beautiful, and I was truly impressed with Jesse Sutanto’s craftmanship here, because she managed to get me so invested in a friendship that largely takes place off-page, then shows us the fallout in a way that made my heart absolutely ache. It was so bittersweet and sad, and poignant and lovely, and really speaks to this author’s talent in that she can create such a bizarre and silly plot and yet also completely tug at my heartstrings with these amazing emotional touchstones. The Aunties series has so much love in every line of text and it’s these moments throughout the story that take my breath away.

To conclude, Four Aunties and a Wedding is another wonderful, funny, heartwarming and completely wild addition to the Aunties series. I am in love with Jesse Sutanto and I can’t wait to continue with this series.

I haven’t read the first book but I can’t wait to read it after this one. I think it can be read as a standalone overall but now that I finished, I really want to know more about these characters and how they got here in the first place.
It’s hilarious to the point of crying with laughter, it’s heartbreaking at times because I really felt Meddy’s distress throughout the wedding day and while I would’ve reacted totally different, I’m also hi five her for being cool with it all and protect her loved ones.
Those aunts are irreplaceable and I would love to have a family like that in real life.
Read it when it comes out next year and you won’t regret it!

Four Aunties and a Wedding by Jesse Sutanto is the sequel to the laugh out loud book, Dial A For Aunties. I was super excited when I was given the chance to read this book especially since its one of my most anticipated reads but unfortunately I didn't end up liking it that much.

This story follows Meddy, Nathan and the chaotic aunties a year later to the couple's wedding that is held at Oxford, England. I was hoping for more laugh out loud scenes but I only found 2-3 jokes that were really funny. The aunties are absolutely all over the place as they try to stop the so-called mafia from taking down the suspect.

The plot and the motives for the mafia was so clear and predictable right from the very start. I know exactly who they're targeting and why so the element of surprise is nonexistent for me. And my prediction is proven right after all.

I like that there were more scenes of Maddy and Nathan even though their wedding ended up as an absolute disaster. The bride was always missing, helping her ma and aunties up to their mischief and I feel so bad for Nathan. But he's so understanding and compassionate that it could all end well.

I was contemplating and going back and forth to rate this book, 3 stars would be too low but 4 stars is too high so I end up right in the middle. 3.5 stars. It was overall just an okay read.

Its nice to see these ladies back together again at Meddy's wedding with the same chaos alongside them, A great sequel that enhances the first book and keeps all the best components in the story.

Expect panic, drama and lots of laughs with this. Good fun.
