Jesse Sutanto has me in stitches all over again with the sequel to Dial A for Aunties set at Meddy's own wedding. I was laughing from the get go as Meddy and the Aunties get themselves tangled up in drama a second time, keeping secrets and causing chaos. Nathan really does have his work cut out for him!
I think this might have been even more chaotic than book 1 which is saying something. Again, don't go in expecting a believable plot but do expect to laugh out loud all the way through. Love this series, I hope there's a third one.

Meddy Chan and her aunties are back, and this time they have the wedding if the year to plan. Meddy's. But Meddy is unsure how her family will be received by fiancé Nick's posh English relatives. They're a little on the eccentric side, complete with matching komodo dragon fascinators. Add the mafia, murder and mayhem into the mix and Meddy might get more than she bargained for on her big day.
As with the previous book, it's the four aunties who shine through here. Each of them is distinct and hilarious in their own way, with a hierarchy among them, and internal squabbling, that makes them feel believable and incredibly endearing. However, that's where the realism stops as most of this plot just defies logic and all credibility. Although I could look past this for the first book in the series, this one just felt a bit too similar and silly for me. It's just way too over the top, light and fluffy, without much substance. I think the novelty of the aunties in the first book has worn off.
A fun time, but this felt very chaotic and lacked some of the shine of the first in the series.

I enjoyed the first book in this series so much but cannot believe how disappointing this installment was.
The level of absurdity was that off the scale that I started to find it boring. Nothing made sense because so much was going on. Meddy and Nathan hardly got any time in the actual story as Meddy wasn't even around for her own wedding.
The first book set it up so lovely with the quirky characters and this second one has made me think that any further installments I won't bother with.

Just as fun, outrageous and hilarious as the first, Four Aunties and a Wedding continues to follow the adventures of Meddy and her aunties getting up to their latest shenanigans but this time at Meddy's own wedding! A little over the top and cheesy it provides a thoroughly entertaining read that will have you laughing out loud whilst also providing some touching, heartfelt moments and exploring some of the more nuanced elements of diaspora culture.
In this instalment it is Meddy's own turn to be getting married and just wants a perfect today - but of course with the aunties involved nothing goes to plan! When the family they have hired to organise the wedding turn out to be a lot more than they seem it is up to the aunties to try and save Meddy and her special day.
The family dynamics in the book as just as good as the first (and probably my favourite thing about these books!!) I love all the aunties and their different personalities and how they all fit together. I also like the exploration of Meddy and her slightly complicated feelings towards her aunties and mum - she loves them a lot and wants to live up to their expectations (and they can often be quite overbearing) but at the same time wants to forge her own path which I think is something a lot of young people can relate to.
Another thing I really enjoyed in this book was the introduction of some other families and how their dynamics and attitudes to their culture both differ and are similar to Meddy's family. The author says in her note she wanted to explore how not every diaspora family has a universal experience and the clashes that can come from this and I think she did this really well.
I thought this book was somehow more more and less over the top than book 1 - the premise is slightly more farfetched but the events that happen are slightly less ridiculous haha. Without getting too spoilery I loved some of conflict in this book, I'm a sucker for crime families (and fake crime families lol) and this book delivered on that perfectly.
The only thing I'm not the biggest fan of in this series is the "romance" - it is not the main focus so it doesn't really bother me that much but it's just very meh, however I do feel that Meddy and her family dynamics more than make up for it.
Overall if you enjoyed book 1 you definitely don't want to miss out on the sequel - it's just as good if not better!(However I do think if you didn't enjoy book 1 probably give this one a miss as they are very similar in style.)

Meddy is due to get married to Nathan, they have put the past behind them. The past being that Meddy and her aunts murdered a guy and helped cover it up! Meddy wants her aunts and mother to enjoy her wedding so her family find her some wedding vendors who are like them a family-owned company. Things seem to be going well and all is prepared for the wedding until Meddy overhears one of the vendors talking about taking someone out at her wedding and they are part of the Mafia. Meddy's aunts and mother will do anything to ensure the wedding runs smoothly.
This is the sequel to Dial A For Aunties which I really enjoyed. This is such a fun read, the plot is quite over the top and not realistic at all but it is really enjoyable. The aunts are very funny and I laughed a lot whilst reading this. Whilst there is a lot of crazy over the top things that happen at the core this is about a family that will do anything for one another. The 'reveal ' at the end was something I had already guessed but I didn't feel that this took away from my enjoyment.
Overall I really enjoyed this one. I think I did enjoy the first book a little bit more but if you are looking for a fun read then I highly recommend this series. I'm not sure if there is going to be another book but I would love to see more of these characters.

After absolutely loving Dial A For Aunties last year, I couldn't resist requesting this one on Netgalley!
I loved being back with Meddy and her family for more chaos and cringe worthy moments (and Four Aunties And a Wedding has plenty!). This is the perfect continuation of the first book so if you loved the first, you'll definitely enjoy this one.
It's lighthearted fun at its best. Not my usual genre but I devoured it in a couple of days and can't wait to read more from the author. Thank you so much for the chance to read and review!

After enjoying 'Dial A for Aunties', I was excited to read more from Meddy and her band of wacky relatives. 'Four Aunties and a Wedding' certainly ups the silly factor as we enjoy the long awaited nuptials of Meddy and Nathan in England. The story opens with the four aunties hiring Staphanie and family to organise the wedding. Not only is Staphanie a wedding photographer with a gorgeous portfolio, but she comes with a whole Asian family of her own. Wedding organising uncles? There are three! But is everything as it seems with this new family?
Do not go into this book expecting something deeply serious. There are some really interesting moments which uncover the clash of cultures between Nathan and Meddy's families (which definitely highlight what an awesome guy Nathan is!), but the rest of the family is a full on twisty criminal caper. There are levels of disguises and misunderstandings Shakespeare would have been proud of with a healthy dose of the mafia (because of course!). Overall, this is a light and fun book, sometimes crossing over the border to a bit too silly. I did enjoy it overall and look forward to the next comic caper from Meddy and family! Three stars ***
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher who provided an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Just as hilarious and non-stop as Dial A for Aunties, Sutanto takes us on another rollercoaster of disasters, dilemmas and laughter. Another cracker for romcom fans.

An express ride of very confusing characters & events ,I actually ended up with a headache by the time I finished the Book . #NetGalley, #Goodreads, #FB, #Instagram,#Amazon.co.uk,#<img src="https://www.netgalley.com/badge/358a5cecda71b11036ec19d9f7bf5c96d13e2c55" width="80" height="80" alt="100 Book Reviews" title="100 Book Reviews"/>,#<img src="https://www.netgalley.com/badge/ef856e6ce35e6d2d729539aa1808a5fb4326a415" width="80" height="80" alt="Reviews Published" title="Reviews Published"/>,#<img src="https://www.netgalley.com/badge/aa60c7e77cc330186f26ea1f647542df8af8326a" width="80" height="80" alt="Professional Reader" title="Professional Reader"/>.

Here we join Meddy as she's settling down after the.... issues (murder!) she had to deal with in book 1. She's about to get married to Nathan but a relaxed straight-forward wedding isn't on the cards!
Her Mum and Aunts again are just amazing! They do their best to fit in but with some language issues and interesting outfits - they certainly make an impression!
I admit, it's an over-the-top book but I really enjoyed it. It was so funny and I would definitely recommend.

Four Aunties and a Wedding is the second book by Jesse Sutanto about a Meddy and her aunties. Probably best to read the books in order but it didn’t spoil my enjoyment of this novel, having not read the first book.
Meddy is getting married to Nathan in Oxford. At the wedding she is accompanied by her mother and Chinese-Indo aunties. As they are going to the U.K., to help them fit in, her mother and aunts have been learning the traditions and language from a teacher, who has led them slightly astray. Their language and attire results in many hilarious and awkward situations. Things get a bit chaotic at the wedding when the mafia get involved and the aunts decide to sort things out.
An absolutely ridiculous plot but the story is hilarious and heartwarming.

Four Aunties and a Wedding is out now in hardback and on kindle.
I love the first book in this series so was expecting plenty of laughs in this one, and it didn't let me down.
Strap yourself in for a crazy, entertaining ride.
Meddy is getting married to her college sweetheart Nathan, and as predicted if you read the first book, chaos ensues. The aunts are hilariously over the top as usual. Hideous wedding outfits, "British" accents, always centre of the attention. But what you love most is the family dynamic to look after one another.
The book is crazy and wacky and definitely over the top, but that's the point. It's guaranteed to put a smile on your face. And if nothing else, it reminds you that your own family isn't half bad!

The Aunties are back!
Meddy is marrying Nathan. Instead of having her Aunties and her mum cater for the wedding she wants to hire someone else and ensure they can enjoy every moment as guests. She decides on a destination wedding in Oxford, England which has the added bonus of not having her whole extended family attend. But with her meddling Aunties and Mum it certainly won't be a quiet day. Even though there’s no dead body hidden in the freezer this time, for better or worse, it’s certainly going to be a day she’s never going to forget…
4.5 ⭐️
This was just as funny as the first book and I laughed out loud many times. I absolutely love the Aunties and just when I thought we had seen the best if them more things happened. I loved the additional characters we for in this and after slumping in March this was a fantastic pick me up!

Four Aunties and a Wedding by Jesse Sutanto is the second book in the series that began with Dial A for Aunties – having loved that, I was pretty sure I was going to be in for another entertaining, crazy ride and I wasn’t disappointed. It proved to be another dose of light-hearted fun with plenty of laughs and I loved it.
Meddy and her over-the-top family are back and this time it is Meddy who is getting married, to the love of her life and college sweetheart Nathan, and has planned the destination wedding of her dreams in England. If you have read the previous book you know things rarely go to plan in this family – so when they discover that the wedding planners, seemingly perfect with very similar dynamics to Meddy’s family are in fact mafia who plan to take someone out during the wedding, Meddy gets her aunts involved in another madcap scheme to prevent it happening. And just as in the first book, chaos ensues!
Yes it’s over the top but that’s kind of the point – it is one of those books that is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. The aunties are hilarious, their antics ridiculous but very funny, from their over the top wedding outfits to their attempts to speak with “British”, and you have to love the family dynamics and their determination to look after their family at all costs! If you are looking for a book to make you smile, pick this up, buckle up and enjoy the ride!

One word = HILARIOUS !
The gang is back! Still for a wedding, but this time, it’s Meddy’s very own!
If you’ve not read “Dial A for Aunties”, have no fear as you’ll be able to catch up along with Meddy’s reminiscences throughout the book!
Meddy and Nathan are finally tying the knot, and obviously preparing for a big Chinese-Indo wedding isn’t to be treated lightly…
They think they’ve found the perfect vendors but it turns out that they were not who they claimed to be…
Wittily funny, full of unexpected events, sometimes absurd, this delightful breath of fresh air and its ever so endearing characters will make you laugh out loud !
Come fall in love with the Aunties! 💜

Charming, funny & totally outrageous!
Loved catching up with Meddie & her Aunties, the mischief they find themselves in won't fail to make you laugh.
It didn't reach the heady heights of the first but I still enjoy it!

Could this book be even more funny than its predecessor, Dial A For Aunties? I didn’t think it would be possible, but my laughing muscles would say otherwise! Chaos, drama and a lot of fun are guaranteed!

I loved this book, such a fantastic set of characters ( I haven’t read the first book, so will be getting this ASAP)
This book had it all This shows us family bonds mixed with murder plots, followed up with kindnapping 😂
There are plenty of not only, laugh out loud moments but also some endearing moments.

My first book, that I have read by this author, absolutely brilliant! Highly recommended, and I will definitely read others written by this author!

Giving this a generous 4 stars because I really enjoyed the experience and had fun reading it. I really wondered how Sutanto could keep this going after the last book's adventures and I think she did a great job continuing the love story, the story of the family and adding mystery and mishaps along the way.
She continues with her touching and cringe moments, hilarious sense of humour, and vibrant characters. I liked the note of the author from the beginning talking about how surprised she was when her family met her husband's family and how it highlights that all Asian families (and Asian diaspora) are different. I did think at times it was a bit on the nose within the story - especially knowing her personal experience.
Also I love the aunties so so much! But some of their behaviours were so cringe, and I think we can all relate to having been to celebrations where this stuff happens, whether it's our relatives or those across the aisle. I feel like the disdain of the in-laws was a bit much, but I understand it brought some conflict. That said, it doesn't feel like it gets resolved, which felt like a hanging thread. And also, some of the stuff they did was truly outrageous, which was fun to read about but really took it out of the realistic realm. I also kept questioning myself - how much did this wedding cost and that is now thrown away?
Finally, I loved the ending (no spoilers don't worry!) and hope there'll be a third book!
