This audiobook certainly held my attention from the very start.
Jerome is woken in the middle of the night by a gun pointed at him. He knows they mean business as this gun has a silencer attached. His wife Alicia is kidnapped and he is subjected the kidnappers demands to secure her release.
Although seeming to work with the gang Jerome is determined to secure Alicia’s release by any. Dan’s so he goes on a mission to find her and reveal the kidnappers.

This was a very easy listen. I was gripped by the storyline and the narrator.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to get an advance copy of the audiobook .

So much action, nail biting suspense. Fast paced and captivity.
Jerome and Alicia are in bed - woken up with guns and strange, threatening men. The men take Alicia, promising to get in touch with details.
Jerome must steal tens of millions of dollars from the company he works for - to be given to previous employees who were sexually assaulted.
Alicia is held in a dank room, terrified but safe. She knows Jerome will do whatever to rescue her.
Lots of action, moves quickly. I would have enjoyed a few more twists. The narrator did a great job with voices, inflection and keeping my attention.
Well written.

The hostage written by John Ryder is a fast paced action novel. Jumping straight in with the abduction of Alicia with strict instructions to her husband, Jerome that he needs to go to work and do as he's told, no following them, no police or hero actions as these would not be good for the hostage. The feisty Alicia does attempt to escape her small well equipped cell but ends up with an injury rather than freedom, so she has to wait for Jerome to save her. Her husband is an accountant for a large firm and when he finds out the hostage takers want him to steal $50million from them he sets to the task to save Alicia.

A good plot start, very action heavy which I like, some of it is a little comedic - the accountant trying to pickpocket is a little ridiculous but adds to the adventure. The pace is very quick and at times a little confusing as to the details he is employing but the general flow is good.
There are not many characters in the book, told mostly from Jerome's POV he is a mild mannered accountant who seems good at his job, with all the things he has to do to cover his tracks, it's amazing how many sports he has played and jobs he has done that have given him all the skills he requires! It is mildly patronising how useless the headstrong Alicia is, terrified of spiders and doesn't know her left from her right but how terribly gallant it is of Jerome to risk prison and his life for her safety but it makes a good action story.

Overall, a very listenable to action story. Plot is fast, although complicated in sections, the cast are a little stereotypical and the Narrator does a good job. 3*

Jerome and Alicia are perfect, sweetharts from high school and also working for the same company. One day they arw not perfect anymore, they are in an nightmare that is so crazy. Alicia is kidnapped adn Jerome is asked to steel from the company. But again this is not the end, Jerome is really determinated to find his better half. A lot of action, gripping listening and great conclusion. Hope you like it.
