The One Night takes place a year before Meghan Quinn's next release, The Reunion.

In this short and sweet (and slightly spicy) novella, we meet Cooper and Nora. Cooper hasn't dated much since his divorce, so when his parents offer to be his wingman and woman for the night, he reluctantly takes them to a local dive bar. The last person he expects to see there though is Nora, his ex-wife's best friend. The pair hit it off immediately and consequently, have a one-night stand.

While this is a novella, it's still filled with Quinn's signature humour and wit. Cooper and Nora were fantastic characters and I can't wait to reconnect with them in The Reunion. If The One Night is anything to go by, The Reunion is going to be a lot of fun.

Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for this honest review.

Short and sweet.
Poor Cooper. He can't catch a break. He's recently single who can't get back out there. He doesn't want to if he could.
His parents badgers him into going out with them.
I read the book and listened to the audio. Teddy Hamilton is Cooper and Laurie West is Nora.
I thought that this was a complete novella, but I now understand that there's a complete book coming out this Feb. I definitely will be here for that.
I really enjoy Meghan Quinn's writing. There's some funny lines but this isn't really a rom com.
Cooper has some real angst. He's the main protagonist. Teddy does a great job as Cooper.
Laurie West is Nora. She's a new to me narrator. I want to know more of what Nora is thinking and feeling. Their chemistry is very hot.

Prequel to an upcoming release, this one introduces Cooper, a recent divorce helping out his parents and and Nora, his ex-wife's friend and their "one night" together. The full novel will be released in January.

This is a short novella that is a Prequel to The Reunion which releases on 2/22/22.

I really enjoyed this story and even though we only get to meet a few of the characters from The Reunion I really liked them and I started reading my ARC of The Reunion right away.

I received an eARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 stars
In true Meghan Quinn fashion we get humor with a great story. This novella was the perfect tease to get you ready for The Reunion. I can’t wait for more of Cooper and Nora’s story.

The One Night serves as a prequel to The Reunion, which will release in Feb of 2022. Cooper and Nora and the focus here and meet up in a dive bar after Coopers parents decide to take him dating to improve his sorrowful and non existent love life.

Cooper and Nora we find out, already know each other. Cooper's ex wife is Nora's best friend, which is an angle I have popcorn on standby for. As the night goes on the conversation flows and their attraction is clear. There is a good level of Meghan humour throughout to keep any fan satisfied. Then add to the mix a steamy conclusion to the end of the book before it ends on kind of cliffhanger more of an unresolved story between Cooper and Nora. I for one really liked how this novella ended. It perfectly leads the reader into The Reunion, ready and willing to continue Nora and Cooper's story in the full length novel.

5 A Night Unlike Any Other Stars!!!

There’s so much to love about this book from Cooper and the relationship he has with his parents, so many laugh out loud moments… I won’t ruin them for you, to moments of friendship and passion and possible second chances.

This is a great introduction to this family leading up to The Reunion because we’ve got some groundwork laid down for what I’m sure is going to be a book that will hold me captive from beginning to end. This book is a quintessential example of Meghan Quinn’s writing and her ability to build a story that has me falling in love with the characters and wishing for more because I can’t get enough of them. One thing I know for sure is that Nora and Cooper are going to have a potentially emotionally explosive reunion in The Reunion!!

The One Night by Meghan Quinn is a fun holiday-themed novella that centers on the lead-up to a one night stand between a recently divorced man and his ex-wife’s best friend. And while it might just be a novella, it’s still packed full of what I love most about Meghan Quinn’s novels, namely laugh out loud humor and steamy romantic scenes.

The story follows Cooper Chance (Coop), a recently divorced man, whose parents are so determined to get him to move on and find a new love, that they dress up in their most festive Christmas attire and take their son barhopping. Their philosophy is that if their son won’t go looking for love, then they’ll act as his wingmen and bring love to him. Coop’s parents are hilarious, steal every scene they’re in, and I just adored them.

The bar they end up in brings Coop face-to-face with someone he wasn’t expecting to see, Nora McHale, the best friend of Coop’s ex-wife. Nora has come to the bar, not looking for love, but rather to just have a drink and relax alone after an exhausting day of work. But not even Nora can resist the charms of Coop’s parents and soon she finds herself chatting with Coop and enjoying it way more than she expected to. Neither Nora nor Coop can believe how well matched they seem to be, but both wonder if they would be crossing a line they shouldn’t if they act on their attraction.

I loved the chemistry between Nora and Coop. Their flirty banter was so cute and I really enjoyed watching them each see the other in a whole new light. I also thought Quinn did a wonderful job of combining their increasingly steamy attraction to one another with very realistic internal monologues of doubt about whether or not they’re doing the right thing, if a relationship between them could even feasibly be possible.

The one thing I didn’t like about The One Night is that it actually ends on a cliffhanger. I practically screamed when I got to the end because I wanted so much more of Nora and Coop. Thankfully I soon learned that The One Night is also a prequel to Quinn’s upcoming novel, The Reunion, which focuses on Coop’s parents and their fiftieth wedding anniversary party. So not only will I get to see what’s going on with Nora and Coop, but I’ll get to see more of Coop’s adorable parents. Win, win!

If you’re in the mood for a fun, flirty holiday-themed rom-com and don’t mind a little cliffhanger at the end, I highly recommend The One Night.

Meghan Quinn delivered a novella full of humor with some heart. I am excited to read The Reunion to get the rest of Cooper & Nora’s story.

One Night was a great preview of Cooper & Nora’s journey.

I voluntarily reviewed this book.

Very short and quick read, lots of steam and some interesting trails in these characters that made me want to know more about them

This is a prequel to The Reunion that is releasing early 2022. The One Night was a great introduction to the couple and it makes me interested to see what will be in store for the reader in the next book. There was a typical Meghan Quinn humor. Made me laugh out loud. A good start to something new.

Perfect little tease to the story of one of the siblings that appear in The Reunion by Meghan Quinn. I loved this backstory of the most responsible Chance brother. This family is one of my favorite fictional groups ever. And their story will make you fall in love with this family.

This novella was delightful- full of author Meghan Quinn's zany, hilarious humor. Note that this is a prequel to Quinn's upcoming February release called The Reunion and it certainly leaves you ready to read the rest of the story. Cooper's parents, Martin and Peggy, are hilarious and I hope we get more of them in The Reunion. A fun, quick read.

Perfect novella and set up for The Reunion. Loved Cooper and his parents! And his connection with Nora. Nora and Cooper have a connection from the past but they hang out to get to know each other. Can’t wait to see what Meghan Quinn gives us in The Reunion!

This is an amazing prequel to The Reunion releasing in Feb. 2022.

This novella is literally one night and it's perfect. It features Cooper, the middle child of the Chance family and his one night out when his parents come to visit him.

This novella is filled with the humor and family dynamics that Meghan is known for. It's well-rounded, even for a novella.

Definitely grabbed this one for a glimpse at what is in-store for us readers in the future.

Huh. I didn't know it was about to end the way it did. I mean I suspected something was off when I was 75% through and there was nothing in terms of couple development. But it snuck up on me real quick.

So this is like the prologue or the foundation of Cooper and Nora's story. Basically how they came to have history which then leads into The Reunion which is Meghans next release and the rest of Cooper and Nora's story. So readers be aware... this ends of a cliffy.. kinda.

Aw I laughed so hard at this little story. Coopers parents are the freaking cutest trying to help him combat his love life by essentially dragging him out and being his wingman/wingwomen. Coopers mortification had me rolling in laughter and I appreciated his honest response because let's be real... no grown adult is going to be happy with it.

Coopers a little broody but we don't yet know the full him to judge. It's said he's very one mind driven and can at times appear unapproachable but the side we get in this part of their story at least is a more vulnerable, funny and a little saucy and I'm super curious about that and what else he has to offer.

Nora is a confident, straight up honest and just appears very likeable. I enjoyed her breakdown of Cooper and his pity party. I love that she challenged him and listened equally and I especially liked that she didn't tear him down for how his parents were out with him. It was like she was seeing a stranger even though they were familiar because the side she saw was different to the man she knew him to be.

These two had great chemistry from the start. I mean I know they knew one another but honestly it should have been awkward and I love that it wasn't. The easy conversion that seamlessly transitions into flirty banter and budding sexual tension just hit right on every level and only served to make me want more. They just have so much potential.

I love that nothing was rushed in this short intro to these characters. Even in the small time of reading them I already feel like I know them and I'm excited to see where the next book takes me on this journey. For now I'll leave this here's but i will say this is a must for going into the next book so you really get a feel for the characters. It's also just a feel good moment that hyped me up ready for what's next. I have a feeling Nora is going to give him hell and I almost feel sorry for the wrath he's about to face.

Oh my-lanta!! Is the a extended prologue for a new book by Ms. Quinn??? Dear readers I am happy to say yes, yes it is!

This delightful surprise is about that one night, that one night that Cooper and Nora had an epic night together.

Their meetup is the cutest! Their banter and chemistry is fabulous. I fell hard for both of them.

I could understand the obstacles in Cooper and Nora's way and how that would affect everyone around them. But I also love that they decided to go forward with their evening together.

Just when you think this story is going to give you the happy ending that Ms. Quinn is known for, she is going to rock your world with a doozy of a cliffhanger! I cannot wait to get my hands on Family Reunion, I need to know what happens!!

Ooo this has made me very excited to read The Reunion now!
The one night is a novella that leads on to the main event The reunion. Cooper is divorced and feeling a little lost and stuck. He's trying to do something he enjoys with his life rather than being stuck in a job he finds boring. His parents want to help him get back on the dating scene and decide to take him to a bar and be his wingmen ro help him get back on the horse. I really enjoyed the events that unfolded and the end has me itching to pick up the main book and see what happens next. As usual Meghan brings humour and a bit of a serious note which keeps you interested. Cant wait for The Reunion

His parents have the talk with him...

Cooper's parents sit him down for the talk. The talk about letting himself go and needing to get back out there after his divorce. His parents are fun (and not adverse to using alcohol). Nora is his ex's best friend and it all feels kinda complicated. This is the short prequel to the siblings stories which comes out in a couple of months.
