After my initial rating of 2 stars I changed it to 3 stars because I did enjoy Coopers parents alot.
But otherwise I just couldn‘t get warm with the characters. For me they just didnt have that great of a chemistry and the story just didn‘t suck me in enough to want to read the continuation.
3⭐️
The One Night by Meghan Quinn is a fun and sexy novella introducing us to a few of the characters we'll get to know better in The Reunion. I really enjoyed getting a brief glimpse into Cooper and Nora's budding attraction - especially knowing that Nora is Cooper's ex-wife's best friend. They didn't really know each other all that well before, but they definitely know each other much, much better after the one night they spent together. But considering how Cooper left things......it will be interesting to see what happens down the line with them in The Reunion!
This book had me laughing with Coops parents as well as angst in such a short story. These two have so much chemistry and that steamy scene - wow! The way in ended left me wanting more and I am so excited for The Reunion!
Nora just wanted a quiet night to decompress after a day of bridezillas at her bakery but when she sees Peggy and Martin Chance she knows it won’t be a quite night after all. She has know the Chance’s for a while since her best friend Dealia was married to there son, Cooper but she hasn’t seen him since the divorce AND WHOLEY MOLEY .. where has he been ?? He is built with muscles on top of muscles and don’t get me started on his scruff !! So when she finds out Peggy and Martin are being Cooper’s wingmen for the night she knows she just has to step in !! And step in she does !!
Copper is just trying to hide right now BUT Nora is in his site and dahm does she look good !! Did she always look that sexy ?? Was he just blinded by Dealia ?? But he wants to find out more and more he finds out he really and truly likes !!
So why shouldn’t they go for it ?? They are both Single but there is just one small problem .. and ex wife and best friend .. Can they throw caution to the wind and just GO FOR IT ??
Soooo AMAZING !! Need MORE of these too !!
This novella left me laughing out loud in many parts! If you are looking for a quick little read look no further!! This novella is a set up for The Reunion. With that being said this one leaves you with an open ending! It will definitely make you want to go into the next book immediately!! It got me hooked that’s for sure!
Received a arc for a honest review.
This was a fun read! The humor is fantastic. Who would have thought your parents coming in and taking the role of wingman, would really work. This is a light hearted book, with more to come of course in the Reunion that is out next. There is a lot of possible drama in this book as small town, everyone knows everything and everyone... will the past truly be the past and can the present and future hold something new? or will old friendships hold strong? Loved it and looking forward to seeing how this one plays out.
So while this doesn’t say it is part of a series, it is a prequel to an upcoming February title of Quinn’s called The Reunion. This book was hilarious, not that I expect anything different from this author. It was short and sweet and sexy as a novella should be. The meet cute wasn’t exactly a “meet” since the two already knew each other, but it was still cute. And oh my gosh, Cooper’s parents are so cute and funny and lovable. I already can tell I will adore their matchmaking mischief in the next book. But I really am going to look forward to seeing how this little one night possible mistake of a hookup can lead to a HEA for Cooper and Nora. Between the name of the Dive bar and the name of the bakery, the author really knows how to make a story fun and interesting! Now, is it February yet? Because I need to know what happens next!
Thank-you NetGalley and Montlake for the chance to read this ahead of publication in exchange for an honest review.
I've been not so patiently waiting for the release of The Reunion seriously I can't wait!
So having a little tease like this is wonderful! But also I need The Reunion NOW!
The One Night is cute a short read that takes place before The Reunion it has us getting to know our two leads, it's great and I loved it! It gives us a little more info going into the story.
I loved Cooper's parents they were hilarious! Talk about match makers!
I really liked Cooper, he has the makings of a great Husbandoo but I can't be sure just yet.
Specially because of that ending. I'm sure he will redeem himself.
Nora was fun and likable. I liked that she didn't overthink as much as a lot of other characters would have. I can't wait to learn more about her!
Overall this novella was cute and fun you can always count on Meghan Quinn to bring on the laughs and the steam even in a novella! I cant wait to see what happens to these two in The Reunion!
I received the first few chapters of this book from NetGalley to review.
I will definitely be picking up this book to continue the story! This was a great start to a book and I'm excited to finish it. Meghan Quinn is always a go to author for me. 😊💕.
Ahh what a prequel!!
Nora was a firecracker! Just like how I like my heroines. Meghan Quinn did not disappoint there.
The quirky parents of course were hilarious and can’t wait to see more of them.
Cooper deserves his HEA and I hope he gets it!
Off to next chapter in their story.
The best of Meghan Quinn comes with a laugh track and a side of heart. The One Night Is a second chance of sorts, shrouded in a comedy of errors. Cooper and Nora turn heartbreak into humor. From their complicated history to their surprisingly simple chemistry, The One Night sneaks under the radar and sets up camp in your heart.
I ADORED this novella by @meghanquinn !!! Dare I say it’s my favorite book that I’ve read of hers??? Can I say that about a prequel novella??!! Most of you know how much I loved her Getting Lucky series, so this is a big statement!
💗The characters were incredible - I laughed out loud more times than I can count. Cooper’s parents are a RIOT! I loved everything about them.
💗If you can squeeze this kind of chemistry into a novella - you have a serious talent!! Cooper and Nora were perfection - I CANNOT WAIT for more of them!!
FYI:: This little cutie is a true prequel to her upcoming book, The Reunion (out 2/22/22), and it does leave you with a serious cliffhanger … I jumped immediately into The Reunion when I finished and am loving it so far!!
The One Night is a Prequel to the Reunion and we get a glimpse into Cooper's new life. And boy.. his parents are invested into the next chapter into his life. They had me cracking up! I almost fell off my couch!
We catch a tease and get one night with Cooper and Nora. Nora is so sweet - she is definitely sugar but she has the spice! There is the taboo hanging over their heads. And after The One Night - Cooper is ready to leave it all behind... or is he?
I cannot wait to get to know Cooper and his family in The Reunion!
Classic Meghan Quinn comedy in this book. I enjoyed this book and the way she wrote the parents as being his matchmaker. Unfortunately they chose the best friend is his ex wife who happens to be friends with the family. I enjoyed the story a lot. It was a nicely written story in line for the next book.
I received this ARC through #netgalley and I am voluntarily reviewing this book
The One Night is a *hilarious* novella that is a prequel to Meghan Quinn's upcoming 2022 release, The Reunion. Cooper Chase is hanging out with his parents one night when Mom and Dad decide that he's been moping long enough after his divorce a year ago, and take it upon themselves to be his wingmen. As if that wasn't embarrassing enough, at the small, dingy bar the trio wind up at, Cooper's ex-wife's best friend is the pretty brunette who catches his parents' eye.
Besides the history of Cooper and Nora's connection with his ex-wife, their families have also been friends for years, so they have known each other for a while. There is great chemistry between Cooper and Nora -- they hit it off immediately and both feel an ease in the conversation that surprises them. For the first time since before his marriage even ended, Cooper feels a spark. And Nora is equally as surprised that she feels so comfortable with Dealia's ex-husband.
Cooper and Nora spend a fantastic night together walking around Seattle and then have a super-steamy one-night stand. But when morning dawns, will one of them freak out and think that they've made a huge mistake?
Because this is a prequel novella, it ends on a whopper of a cliffhanger -- and I was mad! I need more of Nora and Chase! I can't wait to see how their story continues in MQ's The Reunion!
I received an advanced copy courtesy of NetGalley and voluntarily left a review.
Cooper’s parents have decided that enough time has passed since his divorce and it is time for him to start dating again. They decided the perfect way to facilitate is to dress up in their Christmas sweaters and head to the local bar where they can assess the woman there and come up with a match.
Nora is Cooper’s ex-wife’s best friend, and she is delighted to get a chance to catch up with his parents. When Cooper and Nora are left to their own devices the sparks fly but when morning comes will it bring happiness or heartbreak?
This novella introduced us to Cooper and Nora and gave us their back story. The interactions between Nora and Cooper were humorous and hot and leaves us wanting to know more about this couple and their future.
I love anything Meghan Quinn writes. She is my comfort read author and never disappoints me. This was no different and a great set up for her upcoming book the reunion
Well, well, well. Isn't this a quick little forbidden glimpse into The Reunion by Meghan Quinn.
This was hiliarious. Cooper's parents take him out to find a girl with them playing the role of Wingmen. And he runs into his ex-wife's best friend at the same bar. I need more. I can't wait to see where the rest of this story goes.
5 Star Review The One Night by Meghan Quinn
This is the prequel to The Reunion and if this is anything to go by we are in for one heck of a ride. From the first to the last chapter, I was hooked on Cooper Chance and Nora McHale’s story.
The One Night was well written with characters who you cannot help but fall for, flaws and all. Bumping into her best friend’s ex husband Cooper (who is bar hopping with his parents) is not what Nora was hoping for when she goes into a bar to unwind.
However all it takes is one night to change the course of a person’s life. A quick and intense flirtation quickly morphs into more and complication arise.
Whenever I pick up a new book by Meghan Quinn I know I am in for a wonderfully entertaining read with characters who I adored, particularly Cooper’s parents.
I found myself laughing out loud on occasion (not surprising since it is written by Ms.Quinn) and although this is a novella, it certainly packed a mighty punch.
Could this be the beginning of something special or will it crash and burn before it get a chance?
4.5 Stars for The One Night
This novella is the prequel to the upcoming book The Reunion and it’s a perfect introduction to recently divorced Cooper and his ex wife’s best friend Nora and as strange as that relationship is, it proves to be a hilarious, fun and entertaining.
Cooper and Nora have been set up by his parents who seem intent on making sure he gets out more and has some fun, I laughed so much as I watched the lengths they were prepared to go to but could a date with his ex wife’s best friend mean they have gone to far this time ……
The banter is witty, the chemistry is sizzling, there are plenty of laugh out loud moments in this quick read and even though this quick read does not give this couple their HEA it does set the story and us up for The Reunion. I’m really excited to see where Ms Quinn takes Cooper and Nora next .
