A new book by T M Logan is always a considerable treat, so I was delighted to be granted an ARC in review for producing the following honest and unbiased review.
Logan is adept at observing and describing twenty-first century life as lived by ordinary people who find themselves in extraordinary circumstances, and he achieves this feat once more with The Curfew. At the heart of the plot are Laura and Andy, parents to Connor and Harriet, who find themselves deeply worried about their son Connor and are unsure how far they can trust him. How far would they be prepared to protect him and the secure family life they have worked so hard for?
As with previous T M Logan novels, I found myself turning the pages not so much to follow the suspenseful plot (and there is a lot of suspense) but mainly to see what incisive character descriptions the author would offer next. The Curfew packs a real punch of a novel – I cannot wait to see what T M Logan writes next! Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the ARC and I hope this review does it justice.

Another fantastic page turner by one of my favourite authors.

Logan has done it again with a tension builder, cast of suspicious and unlikeable characters and a twist that will make your jaw drop.

I already cannot wait for his next book!

Teenagers, a party and a cover-up…..

It is nothing out of the ordinary for teenagers to throw a house party when their parents are away.

A well planned stunt, with near tragic consequences.

A cover-up, to lay the blame at the doorstep of a innocent party.

To what lengths would you go to protect your children? A party of five, who leave a house party, to continue their own. A gathering in a local wood. A revenge attack, that goes tragically wrong. A missing girl and the investigation that results.

A teenager framed, his little sister out to prove his innosence. A family torn apart, their youngest has vanished.

A tale of blame, tragedy and trolls. No one wants to believe that their child played a part in it. Will the guilty party be found? Or will the fallguy just lay down and take the blame

This book just flows, the main characters, and the situations that they find themselves in are believable. It is an insight into the youth of today, that some might not want to witness. A cautionary tale for modern day parents.

You might find yourself unable to put this book down. It really is that good.

Another brilliant domestic thriller by TM Logan. His books are all stunning, and this is really at him on top form. such relatable characters, I am sure we could all see a bit of all of ourselves in some of the main characters, protecting those we love and hoping we never have to decide where to draw the line on what is needed to be done to protect them...
I would highly recommend the curfew to all those new to Tim's books and those who have read his previous work.
Thanks to NetGalley for a Kindle copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Curfew. The Lies. The Truth. What would you do to protect your child.

This book had me gripped from the start right to the end. I was hooked. I was kept guessing till the very end. T.M Logan could be a new favourite author for me. Highly recommended.

I felt frustrated most of the time reading this book by how the parents handled the teenagers. Right from the start it seemed far to airy fairy for my liking. The plot did have a suggestion of interesting but the waffle took it swiftly away for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed T.M. Logan’s previous novel TRUST ME which was the first I had read of his work. THE CURFEW is to my mind even better. When Connor fails to meet his curfew, his parents are initially unaware that he didn’t return home at midnight. To be honest, given the lengths they go to later in the novel, it is a little surprising that it takes them so long to realise their son is missing but it is excusable. When he appears, and is implicated in the disappearance of a 16-year old girl in his class, Andy and Laura refuse to believe he could be involved.

Logan tells the story largely in the first person from Andy’s POV and Andy comes across as a loving and dedicated father. He is painted very realistically, feeling a distance growing between him and Connor as the latter reaches ‘the difficult teenage years’, struggling to recapture the closeness they shared when his son was younger. Shaken by the police’s apparent focus on his son, Andy tries to investigate independently, looking into the missing girl, the other teenagers who were there when she disappeared, and their families. It is frustrating, and entirely believable, that Andy stumbles from one encounter to another, proving that he is not a trained investigator, and potentially making things worse. The reader simultaneously winces, as Andy gets deeper into trouble, and understands that, in similar circumstances, we would act similarly.

The characters, with one exception, are ordinary people, flawed, three-dimensional people who are utterly believable. The exception is Harriet, “Harry”, the couple’s younger daughter, who is no less believable but is a precocious, 12-year old who could teach Sherlock Holmes a few tricks. Harry is a wonderful creation who epitomises the drive to help Connor as well as the confusion and hurt over the situation in which he finds himself.

THE CURFEW is a tense, claustrophobic domestic thriller. It is well-written and maintains the anxiety, the feeling of helplessness, of events piling up which point in a direction completely at odds with Andy’s and Laura’s belief in their son, a paradigm shift - could Connor by guilty of something horrible? How well do they really know their son? It is a breathless finish to a quick paced, intense novel.

I have read so many of the books written by T M Logan now. I love the fact this book is written about my home town. I found the characters realistic and the plot very likely. Teenagers are very unpredictable and when push comes to shove, they don’t think like adults.
A real page turner.

Another real life story which has you turning pages. What happens when 5 teenagers go into the woods to celebrate the end of exams & only 4 appear home the next day. The ensuing inquiry pitches family against family & brother against brother. What secrets are going to be uncovered and will the unfolding tragedy destroy everything in its path.
A gripping thriller which delves into the teenage use/abuse of drink & drugs & exposes what length parents will go to to protect their children. All of this with an ending you don’t see coming. A great read that will keep you awake till you finish it.

Wow!!! This a really brilliant thriller from T M Logan I could not put it down.
This was a real page turner for me it draws you in & you have to keep reading to find out how it will all end.
Andy & Laura have two children Connor who is sixteen & Harriet who is twelve.
It’s the end of exams for Connor & he as been allowed out to celebrate but has a curfew of midnight that his parents trust him to uphold.
All is not what it seems & it comes to light he did not arrive home.
He went to the woods with five friends but only four came home.
What lengths would you go to for the sake of your children ?
Plenty of curve balls in this one with twists & turns you won’t see coming.
Engrossing well plotted story with emotions running high throughout.
Great psychological thriller you won’t want to miss I loved it.

The Curfew is a BRILLIANT new thriller by TM Logan, cementing him as a total auto-buy author for me. He’s the master of putting relatable characters in terrifyingly plausible nightmare situations. In The Curfew he asks, do you know what your teenager is up to? And what would you do when put into an impossible situation, torn between telling the truth and protecting your child?

I genuinely couldn’t leave this book alone until I’d finished it, so it was read within 2 days, which is very unusual for me at the moment! Highly recommended from me, along with all of his other novels!

Thanks so much to Zaffre for gifting me a digital copy to review – loved it!

The Curfew by T.M. Logan.

This is my first book by this author and it won’t be my last. Such a gripping read that leaves you wondering how well you actually know your family.

If you have older children, you’ve probably been that parent who is waiting up for their child to come home before curfew. I know I have and my own mother definitely has. So this book really hits a nerve when you read it.

When Conor appears to have made curfew, but his parents then discover he actually hadn’t, as the reader you can’t help but think the worse. Fortunately they discover he is ok, though they weren’t expecting him to be held in a police station. When it becomes clear that Emily, another member of Conor’s friendship group has gone missing, then you go on another rollercoaster of emotions.

This book plays on your emotions with so many dead ends and red herrings, by the end I was desperate to find out what actually happened. And the ending doesn’t disappoint!

I loved Harriet, Conor’s twelve year old sister. She is the coolest, cleverest kid I’ve ever come across in a book. If I didn’t work in a school, I would doubt students like this exist, but they do. Their computer knowledge is outstanding.

If you are looking for a fast paced page turning thriller, I would highly recommend this book.

This was read as part of @neverending_netgalley ‘s March prompt. If you want to work through your Netgalley TBR, I would recommend this group.

Thanks to @netgalley & @zaffrebooks for the review copy. #AD

This isn't my first book from this author, and certainly won't be my last. Will be an author I look out for from now on.
This was a great book, that jumped straight into the action so to speak, and made me want to keep on reading even though my sleepy eyes were telling me otherwise!
Easy to relate to most of the characters - including the 'baddies' sadly, but hey ho - I'm only human - and a parent!
Fast paced which is how I like my books, with lots of twists and turns - great read!

I absolutely adore T M Logan's books and so couldn't wait to get my hands on his latest one. I'm glad to say he's done it again, what an amazing book.

The story starts with a family: Andy, Laura, their son, Connor and daughter Harriet. One night Connor is late back after a night out with friends and this sets off a turn of events that becomes ever more sinister as the plot continues.

I loved how you were launched right into the story straight away, no slow build up here! The characters were brilliantly portrayed and I continually felt for Andy and Laura, through their desperation in protecting their son, despite what he may have done. Connor was likeable and believable as a surly teenager with something to hide, and I loved Harriet with her geekiness and fierce loyalty to her brother.

I tore through this book, and was so completely immersed in the story, I literally did not want it to end. The plot and pace is unrelenting and, just when you think you've worked it out, the author throws in another jaw-dropping twist. I love the author's writing style and really felt I was there feeling all the emotions and turmoil along with the characters.

If you loved T M Logan's previous books, you'll devour this one too. If you haven't read one before, you certainly won't be disappointed if you start with this one. Highly highly recommended. Cannot wait for his next one.

Thanks to author, T M Logan, publishers Bonnier Books UK and Net Galley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Having read all of TM Logans books I was keen to get my hands on The Curfew. Some of his previous books are outstanding; 29 Seconds and The Catch for example. In my view, this new installation was unfortunately no way near as good. I found myself frustrated at some of the over-deliberation of main characters, which only seemed to draw things out. And some of the narrative, for me, just lacked realism, particularly early on in the storyline. That said it won't put me off TM Logan as he is generally a brilliant author and I'm hoping this one is just a one off for me.

A girl goes missing from the woods on the same night that Connor and his friends are celebrating finishing their exams. Connor has been given permission to go to the celebration by his parents on the understanding that he sticks to their curfew of midnight. When he doesn't, it sparks an interesting chain of events...

A terrifically good tale with a cast that feels real, the plot is tight and there are issues of moral responsibility, as well as toxic friendship, family values and obsession. The large serving of dysfunctional behaviour takes a sizeable part in the story. If psychological thrillers are your thing, don't miss out on Tim Logan's, The Curfew. Sure to be a winner!

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Bonnier Books UK, Zaffre via NetGalley and this review is my unbiased opinion.

Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Another brilliant read from this author.

A 16 year old girl who goes to school with Laura and Andy’s son Connor goes missing. Laura and Andy are convinced that Connor kept to his curfew and has nothing to do with her disappearance. Little do they know that he is hiding what actually happened that night and five families lives will never be the same again.

I’ve read all the author's books now and every time I finish a new one I’ll decide that “this is my favourite so far”, and it really is. The twists and unexpected turns in “The curfew” left me spiralling because I didn't expect that at all.

How far would a family member would go to protect his own children? I thought I had this one all sorted, but I was wrong. It's so beautifully done and the real life pressure on teenagers from society and social media plays a big part in here. And I’ll be honest, I'm not looking forward to those times for my kids, although it's fast approaching.

I cheered up on Andy to find the truth and his actions as a parent were an on point at all times. I would totally do and feel the same as he did.

Another marvellous story full of adrenaline rush and so many unpredictable twists.
4.5 stars
