I am a huge fan of Jane Casey's books, and Maeve Kerrigan is one of my favourite detectives.
This is number 10 in the series and once again, it is a cracker story!
I love the dynamic between Maeve and Josh, and this book really went more in depth. I desperately hope that at some point, they will get together
The cases handled in here had some very interesting twists and I recommend this to everyone

I really thought I would like this and it was ok but I prefer a good gritty crime novel and this seemed more a romantic thriller! Not to bad though #The Close by Jane Casey. #NetGalley

I am no doubt going to be in the minority here but I just didn't like this book at all!
I thought I would be reading a crime/police novel but ended up reading a romance, with cheesy lines such as 'her bruised lips from kissing'? I have read some of the previous books and while the tension between Derwent and Kerrigan was OK this was a whole new ball game, I thought I was reading a Mills and Boon at some of the words, especially towards the end......
Sorry not for me, and unfortunately will not be recommending

Thanks to Jane Casey, the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC.
The tenth instalment of the ‘Maeve Kerrigan’ series and another not to disappoint. Another brilliant suspenseful thriller from Jane, with expertly written twists and ‘oh wow’ moments. I particularly love such an established series as the background stories and relationships of characters really develops. I’m looking forward to the next book already.

This book was a fantastic read. The story running through the series of books about the growing friendship between Kerrigan and Derwent continues and was exquisitely written, I held my breath at times - I love their energy. And the story of this particular book was great too. I hadn’t worked out which direction it was going, and thoroughly enjoyed the twists and turns of it. Jane Casey captivated me years ago with the main characters, and their professional and personal stories never fail to thrill me. This story could be read as a stand alone, but will definitely be enjoyed by anyone who has invested their energy into Maeve and Josh.

This is the tenth book in the Maeve Kerrigan series by Jane Casey. I really enjoy this series and have been reading it from the start, hard to believe it is now at book ten. I really enjoy the characters and have got to know them well over the time which makes reading this series so much more enjoyable.
Jellicoe Close appears to be a nice place to live, a street where all the house look loved, the lawns manicured and the families all getting on. But not everything is as it appears and there are dark secrets lurking behind the nicely painted front doors as well as a vicious criminal who will stop at nothing.
Duplicitously DS Maeve Kerrigan and DI Josh Derwent are acting as a couple and move into the close to try and uncover the truth. The plan is to gain the evidence they require while keeping their personal feelings for each other under control. Little doe Maeve and Josh know but someone in Jellicoe Close is looking to commit murder.
This is an excellent addition to the series and yet again I was hooked from start to finish.
I would like to thank both Netgalley and Harper Collins UK for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Never mind about police resources (!) as DS Maeve Kerrigan and DI Josh Derwent pose as a couple living opposite a house in Jellicoe Close where where there were suspicions of mistreatment of vulnerable adults. Lots of time staring out of the window.
The book also turns into a murder mystery and luckily Maeve and Josh were on site.
For those unlucky readers Maeve and Josh have been very friendly in previous books, here they act professionally..I really enjoyed the couple of days when Josh went awol and Maeve's best friend arrived to assist!
What you get with Jane Casey is just a little more personal details of each character in the Close.
Obvious 5 stars.
Thanks to Net Galley and Harper Collins UK fir the chance to read and review.

The Close is the perfect balance between a crime novel and a romance.
At least three vulnerable adults have been residents for a time at 7 Jellicoe Close in the last six years, and no one seems to know where they are. It's up to DS Maeve Kerrigan and DI Josh Derwent to uncover the truth. Posing as a couple, they move into what appears to be a perfect neighborhood full of friendly people.
Soon the investigation turns into a murder investigation, and everything is not as it seems in The Close.
The novel is dynamic, full of lively protagonists, action, and smoldering passion between the two detectives.
Pleasant reading.
3,5/5

Jane Casey never disappoints and I thoroughly enjoyed the latest in the Maeve Kerrigan series. A twisty mystery that involves Maeve and her colleague Josh pretending to be a couple and going under cover. Just them and the inhabitants of the Close who are all hiding secrets. There is a sexual tension between Maeve and Josh that definitely adds to the mix and I can’t wait to see if this is continued in the future.
Beneath the idyllic exterior of the pretty Close with their perfect families are some pretty nasty characters and plenty of shocks to come. A welcome addition to the series, although it works as a stand-alone and I highly recommend it.
Thanks to HarperCollins and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The best book so far! This #10th entry in the much-loved Maeve Kerrigan series is a delight to read. In preparation for this new one coming out, I went back and binge read all 9 previous books and I’m so glad I did. The character growth and relationship between Maeve Kerrigan and Josh Derwent makes this series such fun to read. In this one, Kerrigan and Derwent go undercover posing as a couple. When I read that I just knew this one I had to read immediately. Derwent is my absolute favorite character! I am eagerly awaiting the next novel. I must have more Kerrigan and Derwent! 5 stars hands down.

I've been following Maeve and Josh since book one and it was the characters that had me coming back for more, even at times when the story didn't work for me. This book is more of a romance/procedural and it's a lovely mix. The focus is on the pair's connection but the investigation is strong and keeps the story flowing. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC.

I haven't previously read any other books in this series, but I found it no problem to pick up the background and it didn't affect my enjoyment of this book.
I thought the story was good, there were several issues for Maeve to investigate as there was not just one 'villain', and yet it was easy to keep the threads separate in my mind. The story was well written, the characters seemed believable, and I quite enjoyed the different tensions in the Close.
I would happily seek out more books in this series, or by this author.

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. One of my favourite authors and this did not disappoint. A fast paced thriller that had many twists and turns., I would highly recommend.

Fairly good mystery thriller but not my favourite.
Having read one Maeve Kerrigan novel before and enjoyed it, I tried this novel and discovered that I didn’t enjoy it as much. She goes undercover with her boss in a residential close and gets involved in the various shady activities going on there. I enjoyed the investigative side of the novel but didn’t go for the “will they/won’t they” side issue and the Desperate Housewives aspect of the story. My fault for my choice to read it. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Brilliant addition to these series! Could not put it down once I had started, definitely worth reading

After reading a standalone by Jane Casey, it is really nice to return to her Maeve Kerrigan series. The two different crime story lines are unrelated and feel a bit random, but the idea of being undercover in a suburban close is really fun.

In Book #10, DS Maeve Kerrigan and DI Josh Derwent go undercover as house/dog sitters to infiltrate a suburban neighborhood where a vulnerable adult has been abused and killed. The mystery is sold and forcing Maeve and Derwent to pretend to be a couple ramps up the long-simmering sexual tension between them and adds an extra dimension to the story. An enjoyable entry in this series.

This was great, I really enjoyed the undercover aspect and found that the writer had me immersed really early on. I’ll be looking out for more

In book# 10, Maeve Kerrigan is investigating the murder of a surgeon in a hospital car park, until she and her colleague Josh Derwent are ordered to go undercover as house and dog sitters in Jellicoe Close, in a traditional English village. They’re living in fake domestic bliss, something which is almost certain to create sexual tensions.
Though on the face of it Jellicoe Close appears to be idyllic, nestled in a pretty little country village, suburbia at its best, Maeve and Josh are here to investigate the suspicious death of a skeletal young man, who had numerous injuries covering his body. They believe that one of the houses in Jellicoe Close is being used to temporarily house vulnerable young adults who are at serious risk of abuse.
This is a tightly knit community, with well kept houses and perfectly manicured lawns, neighbours chatting over the fence, kids playing happily in the street, but of course it has its fair share of nosy neighbours and gossips, but it’s not going to be that easy to crack this case. People are wary and aren’t always prepared to reveal others secrets. And trust me, there are plenty of secrets to be uncovered!
This was such an engaging plot with characters that I’m sure we all recognise, so naturally I was swiftly turning the pages, keen to find out what happened next. Jane Casey writes particularly well, and seems to avoid the clichés that are often present in most police procedurals. Another winner for Ms Casey.

I hadn’t read any of the other books in the series but that didn't matter. Well written crime novel with a strong focus on the personal relationship of the two main characters. Plenty of twists and turns. I’d certainly look for others by the same author.
