Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to review a temporary digital ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.
This book is very useful. It offers actionable and realistic ideas for utilizing one's freezer to its fullest potential. After reading this book I had many helpful recipes that I wanted to try out and left feeling like I knew much more about how the freezer could be used to preserve and store fresh fruits and vegetables. This is a great read for any homesteader, home cook, or fan of frugal living.
With the state of our political climate in the United States, this is a .must have book. Everyone another generally be prepared for anything and prepping and saving food reduces grocery bills
An excellent resource with gorgeous pictures. I have a chest freezer and have used tips from this to save time and effort.
In the past I have tried various method to freeze fruits and vegetables and have had inconsistent success which limited the types I could. Plus I have always wanted to freeze through the year to take advantage of what was in season. Using the simple to understand directions I had greater success! Looking forward to continuing to freeze through the year!
I love gardening and I harvest a lot during a summer session but didn’t realize how much I could freeze or that I was doing something wrongs. I found this so helpful and informative for anyone who likes to save bulk items like fruits or vegetables correctly.
If you garden or buy in bulk this is a good book for you. A guide to freezing fruits and vegetables and recipes to use them with. There were several I didn’t know you could freeze. A guide to blanching to freeze, two ways about it. And a suggestion to have a freezer specifically for this, which is probably not optional for everyone. After the first part of the book about the basics of freezing, we’re given an alphabetical guide to the fruits and vegetables. Each one has a recipe or two for using the frozen item, or to make before freezing. Decent guide for beginners.
Unfortunately, the format of the ebook made it difficult to read. With the recipes being spaced in. an odd way. And the paragraphs too.
If you’re wanting inspiration for putting your freezer to better use, this is the perfect book. It is packed with gorgeous photography, ideas and super useful indoor action on arranging the freezer, how to freeze particular foods and so much more.
I wonderful accompaniment to the kitchen and a great gift for the home cook.

Book received for free through NetGalley
I paged through this cookbook many times over the last several months. Everything looked great: however, I somehow never got the chance to try anything. Reviewing as is for now as it’s been awhile. Thanks for the look in.
This book will help you freeze an abundance of produce for use throughout the year. I was particularly surprised by some of the vegetables included, such as cucumber and zucchini, which I wouldn't have thought would freeze successfully. The book is organized alphabetically by ingredient name, and Schmidt includes techniques and recipes for each fruit or vegetable. Plenty of color photography to help and inspire.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC digital edition.
Unfortunately, I was unable to read this in the time allotted.
Freeze Fresh: The Ultimate Guide to Preserving 55 Fruits and Vegetables for Maximum Flavor and Versatility is a reference/cookbook that belongs in every kitchen. With food prices skyrocketing, it’s especially important to eliminate waste and preserve the food that we have either grown or purchased.
This excellent book outlines the techniques of freezing fruits and vegetables so that they are usable in recipes. The information is well-written and easy to understand. There are 55 different fruits and vegetables featured, and the author explains how to freeze them successfully. Some readers will find that fruits and vegetables that they previously thought weren’t freezable (like cucumbers and lettuce), actually are. Schmidt also includes recipes for using the frozen products. The recipes are for dishes people will actually want to make; they are written in the traditional manner, and can be easily made by both beginning and advanced cooks. Recipes include appetizers, salads, soups, side dishes, jams and jellies, main dishes, and desserts. The information is timely and the techniques for freezing have been modernized to make it easier than past practices. There are also beautiful photographs of step-by-step instructions, as well as the fruits and vegetables and also the recipes.
No matter what vegetables and fruits readers favor, there is something here for everyone. This book is highly recommended and is not only a good reference, but also a great cookbook. It belongs on every cookbook shelf.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.
Wow, this is incredibly useful. Just a simple, straight-forward guide on how to freeze your homegrown produce, either on its own or blended/cooked/made up into some delicious concoction. Schmidt includes helpful recommendations on containers, freezer organization and maintenance advice, and a bit about the hows and whys of freezing as a preservation method. Super helpful guide.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. (via Netgalley)
This was a neat read. Informative and gave a few options for most items which is nice. Also has the added bonus of some recipes!
This book was very helpful. I have a vegetable garden and want to freeze as much of my produce as possible. I hate freezer burned food, so was glad to learn save vegetables so they don't get damaged in the freezer. Now I will be able to enjoy my vegetables all year round.
As a military wife who moves every 4 years, information on preserving the local fruit and vegetables has always been invaluable to me. FREEZE FRESH is a wonderful resource and guide on how to keep my family's diet healthy and varied, especially in the middle of winter. The information in the book is more current than what I had received from my local ag office. Cudos to Schmidt for insuring her readers would have the most up to date info.
A good book if this is the type of thing you want to do, or have bought extras. Produce items that a lot of people would likely get at some time of the year. Nice book.
