I read this book years ago and felt like the news of a sequel was the ideal time to re-read it! It's a classic and one of my all time favourites as Rachel starts to accept she has a drinking problem and seek professional help. Marian Keye's writing is fantastic and reading this again has me so excited for the sequel!

Such a brilliant book which I first read about twenty years ago. It was a joy to revisit in the anticipation of the upcoming Rachel’s Back, and slip unnoticed into the Walsh family, again, reminiscing about all the characters and their back stories, and what is to come ( because I know and they don’t!)
A great deep insight into drug addiction, truth, honesty and facing fears and faults. A great view into Humanity and the power and strength of family love, despair and strength in unity.
As a committed fan Marion Keyes, I removed this book and cannot wait to see how Rachel and all the Walshes grow, and develop in the ‘sequel’
thanks to #NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ahead of the new book,

Empathetic And Credible…
The twenty fifth anniversary copy of this bestseller is as relevant today as it ever has been. Told with empathy and with a credible protagonist, laced with wry humour in the face of much adversity, it packs a poignant punch.

I read and loved this book when it was first published, and it has remained a firm favourite ever since. Delighted that a sequel is in the offing and have pre-ordered.. Can't wait.

It’s brilliant to revisit Rachel’s holiday on the 25 year anniversary, particularly with the sequel being released in a couple of months.

It’s a frank and unflinching look at addiction and the recovery that begins in rehab. As in all her books, the author’s writing style is witty and engaging and compelling. Rachel is a character you root for and relate to. It was brilliant to have an excerpt of the next book in the back too, if really whet my appetite for the next book. Roll on February.

Thank you to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to review thr 25th Anniversary edition of the book in exchange for a honest review.

Rachel’s Holiday by Marian Keyes Just as good 25 years later, the original cover version of this story saw me through some difficult coach journeys to some difficult situations, so reading the 25th anniversary edition was like visiting with an old friend from back in the day, remembering the hard times and realising how far I have come, and really hoping that when we get the sequel Again Rachel, I cant wait to see what Rachel is up to now, I adore her as she isn’t someone I like all the time, and that makes her more real and more like someone I would be friends with for over 25 years!! Those are the friends you love and occasionally hate, even if its just as they have a pair of cute shoes that would be too big for you,

Well it’s been so long since I first read this I’m ashamed I’d totally forgotten everything except the barest details but I really wanted to refresh my memory before the sequel comes out. This is a really strong story about addiction and the impact it has on the sufferer and their families. The different patients at the Cloisters were well depicted as was the daily life there. It was fantastic to see the world through Rachel’s eyes and the judgements she made and the way her opinions evolved over time. Although this was published 25 years ago it’s got a very relevant feel still and I can’t wait to read how life has been for Rachel in the intervening years in fact I think I need to reread the other Walsh family books before February!

I read this a long time ago, but remembered just how much I loved it then. Rereading Marian Keyes novels bought back all my memories of it, all the range of emotions I experienced, about the depiction of addiction, the toll that it takes, the character of Rachel, and her family's response. Despite it being about such a serious issue, Keyes will have you laughing as well as having you in tears. In New York, Rachel does not recognise she has a problem with drugs, she only dabbles in recreational drugs, the trouble is that she overdoses. Keyes memorably charts Rachel's pain and her path to coming to terms with the fact that she has been blinkered when it comes to her relationship with drugs as she enters rehab at Cloisters on her return to Ireland, funded by her family, until she finally begins to address her problems and connect with who she really is. There is a strong sense of authenticity in this novel, in the character of the unreliable Rachel, and the picture of drug addiction, yet the author makes it so much fun, it is such an entertaining and humorous read. A great reread! Many thanks to the publisher for the book.

I loved this book 25 years ago and I love it now :) I can’t wait for the sequel to this book, I’m sure it will be as good as if not better than the first one.
