The Dirty Truth is a wonderfully written enemies-to-lovers, slow burn romance. I have read a few books by Winter Renshaw previously, but I have to say that this was one of my favourites. I loved Elle, but oh boy...this story was all about West Maxwell for me. Holy hotness.
Thanks Netgalley for a arc copy of this book for a honest review
Another Winter Renshaw book that did not disappoint me. The Dirty Truth gave me all the feels.. I fell in love with Maxwell my new book boyfriend and 5 star read.

A sweet, heartwarming story of Elle Napier, a journalist that works for Made Man, a national men's magazine run by West Maxwell. West's employees are well aware of his cold demeanor and hard exterior. After a staff meeting (and an unrealistic demand that Elle rewrite her column for the month), she gives West the middle finger by writing a column about the man behind Made Man and quits. Elle has always seeked purpose in life, especially after an unfortunate aneurysm incident that left her without a heartbeat for 3 minutes. West is dealing with his own issues at home, mainly facing the challenges of raising his 14 year-old niece Scarlett. The synopsis of The Dirty Truth didn't do the book justice. I fell in love with the characters immediately and found myself rooting for sweet Elle and West, a man with many many layers. I highly recommend this book!
I’ve read a couple of Winter’s books now and I always enjoy them however this one was missing a few things for me. While the writing was great and I loved the duel perspective, I wanted more. This is more of a fiction with a romance than a romance book as the romance doesn’t kick in until about 70% and you don’t get to see them a lot as a couple. I understand it was slow burn but she didn’t even think about having feelings for him until the 70% mark. Most of the book is spent with West’s niece and Elle and while I liked those scenes, I would have liked to see West have more interactions with them.
The steam factor wasn’t the same either when compared to other books from the author I have read. I did really love how grumpy he was and that there was for most of the book some unrequited feelings but again, I would have preferred the book to be slightly longer to see more of the couple together once they finally got together.
First, my job. I love being a journalist, but I hate my megawatt magnate boss, West Maxwell. When he demands I rewrite an article on short notice, I turn the tables on him with a scathing new column and quit in a blaze of glory. When I started reading I couldn't put it down. Winter Renshaw is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can't wait for the next
I really loved this book. The premise of a woman quitting her job because of her jerk boss is common, but not the fact that she has a near-death experience that makes her want to live her best life. West Maxwell is amazing but also very hard to crack. Elle and Scarlett remind me of me and my daughter, too. Five stars!
The Dirty Truth is a slow burn romance that had me devouring this book to until the last page. I literally cried, got mad as all hell and laughed throughout this book. Elle has been through so much and after a tragic experience she begins to look at her life in a new perspective and what she needs and doesn't need in her life, her job being the main source. West Maxwell, is an arrogant handsome bachelor who doesn't have time for nonsense and who cannot for the life of him manage his fourteen year old niece. These two together are a great duo. Elle doesn't bow down to West and West gives her a chance to do something different with her time. This book is emotional and tugged at my heart. Such a great read and I can't wait for more to come by Winter.
The Dirty Truth was a great book by Winter Renshaw. I have read a few of Winter's novels and this one did not disappoint. I really enjoyed West and Elle's chemistry and the plot kept me wanting more. I would definitely recommend this book to any romance reader wanting a great enemy to lovers trope. Thanks to the publisher for giving me an ARC.
WOW, absolutely wow. I am still coming down from this book high from reading Elle and West's story. It is so well written and the characters all pull you in to their lives but it has deep emotions that brought me along with their journey and made me crave more. I was so sad when it was over as I wanted more of their story as it is that good.
West Maxwell is a name that brings fear amongst his employees and respect in the business world or print. When he speaks everyone listens. Lately though West's life has been thrown into a whirlwind of change and he is spiraling out of his control.
Elle is finally back to work from her medical leave and she just can't seem to get it together. Nothing is running smoothly for her and she is frankly a mess both emotionally and physically. When she is face to face with West Maxwell she too is in shock that he not only speaks to her but has requested the one thing that will send her over the edge and it might be the only thing that saves her in the end.
West and Elle are so good together and add Scarlett and it is a total win for one of the best stories I have read in a long while. As I said, I wanted more and loved every page I read. The characters are well thought out and there is enough back story to make them a person as well as gives us a glimpse into who they really are. With West his secrets are given to us one piece at a time which is how Elle puts the puzzle that is West together. He is more than a print king, he is a man and has a whole other side to him.
I highly recommend this book. Beyond 5 stars for me.
This was a fantastic read. I thoroughly enjoy Winter Renshaw's stories and The Dirty Truth is no exception. It was a well-written book with an intriguing storyline. The author took a character and humanized him into a hero. The Dirty Truth was a thought-provoking and entertaining read.
In this book we meet Elle a journalist who recently suffered a near death experience which has cause her to have a different take in life. She is a journalist who has a very popular column called the Dirty Truth for a very successful magazine.
Elle has the Boss from hell called West Maxwell, whom after calling her our during a meeting demands she re-writes a whole new column for next month’s issue. He gives her until 8am the next morning but when he reads the new column the Dirty Truth of West Maxwell, he wants to confront her the only problem is that along new column is her resignation letter.
West is an extremely controlling man who has been marked by his past, those events have affected his ability to develop relationships with others but mostly with his troubled 14-year-old niece Scarlet.
Scarlet meets Elle by coincidence they both take a liking to each other which leads to West asking Elle to be a companion/mentor to scarlet and help her adapt to her new life.
From there on not only do we see the relationship between Scarlet and Elle flourished but we also see West becoming a different man. He is less controlling and slowly very slowly begins to open himself up.
The author does a great job detailing the journey and development of the characters, it’s worth reading.
I received this book for an honest review.
If you're looking for an exciting and engaging story, The Naked Truth by Winter Renshaw is the book for you.
After a close encounter with death, Elle needs big changes to move forward.
She loves her job at Made Men newspaper, but her hatred for her boss, West Maxwell outweighs that love.
When he asks her to write an impactful article, Elle writes the naked truth about West Maxwell himself.
Well, of course you can imagine that this didn't sit well with her boss at all, but before it gets to the trenches, Elle quits.
And it's from that radical decision by Elle that a slow and engaging story begins, first of friendship and then of something more.
"A life without Elle is no life for me."
Winter Renshaw has a clear and fluid way of writing, I devoured the book in no time.
The characterization of the main characters is consistent and straightforward.
Elle, a tenacious girl, doesn't let anyone walk all over her. She is feisty, spontaneous, and sincere. Who else could have written The Naked truth column but her!!!?
West is a piece of work. Hers was an evolution from the beginning to the end of the book. For the first part of the novel he comes across as a gruff boss, stern with himself and life, but as he goes on, Elle's proximity knocks down the armor he had built and he shows himself for the sweet and understanding man he is.
The Naked Truth is a self-contained novel, an enemies to lovers with a hint of spice.
What can I say? I am a Winter Renshaw groupie! I see her name on the cover, and I buy the book. I don’t need to know what it’s about; I know it will be a winner. So, when you read, “I didn’t see God when I died,” as the first words in Winter’s new book, you have to question where is she going with this? This book is not the usual Winter Renshaw.
You see, her main female character is a magazine writer named Elle Napier, who survived a brain aneurysm. She has just returned to work writing a dating advice column in the popular Man Made magazine when her latest article is ridiculed in an executive meeting. Faced with a 24-hour turnaround to replace the column, Elle resigns but not before she hands in a new column to West Maxwell, the article's subject of that article and owner of the magazine.
Elle decides she is no longer happy writing such dribble and aims to discover the Elle she is meant to be. Along this journey, she meets Scarlett, the teenage niece of West Maxwell. Since he is having trouble with the girl, he tries to hire Elle to befriend Scarlett to help acclimatize her to New York. Elle refuses payment but will be a “friend” to Scarlett instead.
The book follows Elle’s journey to self-discovery. She, in turn, brings West along a similar route to his quest for “greatness,” uncovering layer after layer of what makes the man tick. It’s an entertaining story with great characters, multiple storylines, and of course, romance. It’s not the traditional Winter Renshaw I adore. It’s fresh, engaging, and captivating. Buy it when it is. You will not be disappointed.
I was sent an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I thoroughly loved reading the sensational, awesome, and amazing story by the phenomenal author, Winter Renshaw. Elle's arrogant, handsome boss, West Maxwell tells her she has to rewrite her article for the next morning's edition, so Elle decides to write the truth about her boss and hands in her resignation letter. West doesn't want Elle to resign, but he cannot talk her. out. of it. When Elle meets West's niece, Scarlett, and West needs someone to mentor Scarlett, Elle. volunteers. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written with captivating characters, and a riveting must read love story.
I just reviewed The Dirty Truth by Winter Renshaw. #TheDirtyTruth #NetGalley
[NetGalley URL].
This book was so so good. Enemies to lovers with an emotionally riveting plot and characters. Couldn’t put it down and highly recommend this book!!
Just like all Winter Renshaw books, this one did not disappoint. I loved the enemies (not really, but close enough) to lovers aspect. All brought together through Scarlett. More sweet than steamy. Worth the read.
I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
I love a brooding man and a kind women who loves deeply the most hardened of hearts.
West has been admiring Elle not only as a magazine writer but also as a person however he does not know how to show it.
Elle, after having a brush with death, quits working for West after a meeting gone wrong but their paths cross again in the form of Scarlet, Wests niece.
I was pulling for these too and it was definitely a HEA story.
(Love the Epilogue as well. Great glimpse into their future)
Okay y'all, I've never read a novel by Winter Renshaw so I wasn't really sure of what to expect but daaaang I'm mad at myself for not reading any of her previous works. The Dirty Truth immediately grabbed my attention and over the course of two days, I found every opportunity to pick it up and read it. I really enjoyed West and Elle and I especially enjoyed them when they shared a page...especially at the beginning. Her spunky attitude and his seemingly ice cold demeanor made their confrontations really fun to read. And then, of course, as they evolved from confrontational to friends to partners I enjoyed them even more. Additionally, I appreciated the 'brush with death' plot point and the changes that that caused.
All in all The Dirty Truth was a really fun read and while I cannot believe this is my first Winter Renshaw, I can promise you that I will definitely be delving into her backlist. (And I can't wait to do it).
Another wonderful read from Winter Renshaw! With strong character development, you will fall in love with Elle and West as their story unfolds. Throw in an angsty teenager for some added spunk and you have a great story. Don’t miss this one!
"I didn't see God when I died"
"I don't know what I'm going to write, but I do know one thing: West Maxwell is the worst"
"My first taste of freedom may have started on a. bitter note, but the second bite will be sweet - I'll make sure of that"
I absolutely loved this book!!
It was exactly what I needed, at the right time I needed it.
A great romance that started with all the best tropes: working together, enemies to lovers...
And then developed into: forced proximity and some fun banter-time between a mysterious, gorgeous love interest and an amazing main character who suddenly wants more from her life.
Dealing with important issues such as the relevance of aneurysm in a person's life, or parental abuse and abandon, this book created a sweet atmosphere around the freedom of speech and how much we should value sincerity and truth above everything fake society has to offer.
I loved how the feeling started from him and how resolute and obstinate she is in changing her life for the better.
Death gives you perspective and I loved how the author decided to use this with Elle.
West is a beautiful jerk and the fact that he went into a bit of a "I-hate-everyone-but-you" behaviour made me fall for him even more.
Scarlett is a complicated character for being a fourteen-year-old but then again, after everything she's been through in this short about of time, who wouldn't be?
The language and the writing style made it all easier to read the plot so addictive I couldn't put it down!
Can't wait for it to be published!
"Perhaps the tin man has a heart after all."
"Perspective is everything"
"My father always told me the harder you are on the outside, the softer you are on the inside ... And you, West, are the hardest person I've ever met"
